Another case of why you should never ever buy players from Bayern, particularly those that on paper they should be happy to keep?
Yeah. They well run club and they never move a player without some reason. It is our third bad transfer from them.

What are the rumors?

When he first got injured, there was a guy on Reddit who was claiming that his injury is far worse than believed and that the club don’t want to say anything too soon about it. The guy said it was going to end his season, but the club are concerned it could also be a career ender. I’ve mentioned it on here before, when his date for return kept getting pushed back and there was radio silence on the issue, but now it’s looking like that person may have been telling the truth.

Damn, that would be a catastrophe for the lad (worst case, that is). Fingers crossed it’s not anywhere near there.

Gundogan had huge problems with his back in his early days at Dortmund. He managed to get the right action taken and could go on to play again. Hopefully we can find the right help for Matthijs as well. Could be a huge boost for next season

He's also been dealing with issues in his personal life and maybe the club decided to give him some extra time off to deal with them.

I don’t think it’s anything we knew about. We sold him, because he was on huge wages and didn’t quite fit into our style, as he wasn’t fast enough or good enough at playing it out from the back. It was performance related.

This is silly thinking.

They've sold Lewandowski or Kroos before, should we not have been in for them? We almost got Kroos, but then Moyes got sacked and van Gaal took over.. rest is history. Add Mazraoui, Gravenberch, Mandzukic and probably some more I forgot.

It's not like the Bayern Munich are some otherwordly, titans who don't make mistakes in the transfer window. Bayern fans made a petition against the board selling De Ligt with 60k signatures wanting to keep him. He's been really good for us too, so don't act like it was a waste of a transfer.

The reason Bayern don't sell top players often is because they're a gigantic club and one of the best in the world. Usually players don't want to leave a club like that unless you want a new challenge. Most of the time, when a player wants to leave a club like that, is because he isn't a starter/lack of playtime, or having been told you're not gonna be part of a manager's plans.

It‘s simple: Bayern wanted to have someone better on the ball, the fans recognized De Ligt’s mentality and defensive qualities.

I think we were lucky to get him cheaply, just now it sucks he has a serious injury.

Back. Carrick said a month ago that he might not play again this season basically, they just don't know. One day it'll just calm down and he'll be fine. Hard to say with back things.
I dont think we really care about him playing, this season, but considering how bad this injury has been and all the mystery behind back injuries - WILL HE PLAY EVER? Or at least, will he ever be able to be United level again? :(

With the world cup and the extent of his injury being unknown, don't think he will be playing any more club football this season.

He has a back injury

To keep him off this long is really serious or hard to treat. He might not come back the same player again. He might even have to decide to stop playing if it's his back and he can't play without pain for the next few years. This could be another Jones type situation. I really hope not, I think he's such a good player.

Thank god. I’ve seen a wild array of rumours ranging from career ending injury up to sex change.

Up until that injury which feels like forever ago, he was in our top 3 consistent performers this season.

I assume he won't play again this season, but it would be great if he did.
I don't want to see him play again this season, there's no real need given we will finish in a CL spot barring a complete collapse and the fact that we won't be attempting to win anything

He’s going to be getting fit for the World Cup, regardless of us, I would assume.

That's very obviously not De Ligt.

Think it's safe to assume at this point that Mathilde's living her best life away from football.
