Hope he recovers well. Guessing he will be back closer to Xmas

Mitten said he should be back early in the season.

If he is back to his best and doesn't have fitness issues then he would be a massive help for us.

Man I hope he gets fit and stays fit. Mainly for himself, such a rough injury to get back issues like he's had. Also, just a quality player and so underrated. If fit and gets back to his best, he's instantly a key player and leader in the squad and one of the best CBs in the world. He showed it for a few months last season before his injury. Hard to expect much from him before new years, but hopefully he gets back to playing. Would be such a bonus.

I mean i feel like the odds of being back healthy after such a lengthy absence is pretty small.
Yeah I think it’s ripe for so many other little injuries as his body isn’t at fighting fitness. But I don’t think they’ll rush him back and monitor him super heavily

He has never shown such levels here, he has been good at best, “ one of the best cbs in the world” … let’s not.

Being one of the best in the league makes you one of the best in the world. At his best, I firmly believe he can be that. Unfortunately with the injuries, who knows if he'll get there ever again.

So unfortunate to have such a fat dad which has caused the major problems to his back. Prayers and thoughts.

How do you mean sorry, you don't think he'll come back? Or he won't have his sharpness for a while?
Just that you don't have an absence of this length that just started supposedly small and has now gone on for this long and just come back and be perfectly healthy and normal. At this point I hardly even think we should be counting on him to come back as part of our plans

Rush him back? When was last time he even played at this point how could we possibly "rush" him back ha

I don’t think he’s “ one of the best “ , he won’t reach such levels , he’s a good centre back but nothing to go crazy about…

Would definitely keep him though , that’s for sure but “ world class” he is definitely not.

Let’s hope he has an injury free season and then we can see for ourselves.

You could ‘rush him back’ by having his back be fully fit and then throwing him back into the game without him making sure all of his mechanics are strong

Yeah I suppose, I'm not an expert on specific injuries.

I'm not so worried about the length of time because so much of that time was seemingly the club wanting to avoid surgery.

I agree that there never seems to be any guarantee how someone comes back from surgery but I'm optimistic.

Future captain if he can stay fit and lead like he did when fit last year. Still fairly young too so hopefully can find health in his prime years.

We can't afford to rush him back if we want a chance of him being able to pick up where he left off

I agree, we should take our time with him. I’ve also advocated for rotating players with a similar injury record to keep them healthy for the season.

If Luke Shaw can play 38 games last season then so can De Ligt, given the medical team and understand his limits and give him the time/rest he needs. Hopefully he comes back sooner rather than later as we will definitely need him.

Promising deadlifts from a player recovery from a back injury.

Please be fit again!
Unfortunately, a dead lift is straight, basic mechanical motion, unlike sudden, explosive twists and unpredictable turns of sport, let alone top level, busting a gut, last moment action in a standard PL game.

It’s good to see him going through mobility and core drills, but that’s nothing like the real stuff and doesn’t tell us much about where he’s at in relation to venturing into training games.

So what actually happened to him? I swear he just went MIA and only later they said a vague back injury?

I love to see him lifting those heavy weights, but isn't it too risky doing that while he is still recovering from back surgery?

Just want him to take it easy and fully recover from the surgery first than trying to prove him self too soon.

Fingers crossed for the guy. His first season at United was fine injury wise. He had problems in his last season at Bayern I think, but nothing serious before that. So the back thing was kind of out of the blue, and certainly not part of a problematic pattern. While I wouldn't call him an elite defender, he's certainly very good. Him getting fitness back would be a real bonus, not just for this season, but by making things easier in the next transfer window too.
