Fred and McT both look shattered. Garner still looks 1 more loan away from being ready.

Maybe not such a bad idea bringing someone like this in. Maybe his experience as a defensive midfielder will mean that he can play next to Pogba or Van de Beek in a double pivot, and make up for their lack of defensive capabilities with his tackling, positional discipline and awareness.

It's a horrible idea. He's nowhere near the level required to improve our team. We are at a difficult stage now in the development of our squad. To get the maximum benefit from the market we need to invest in top class players in thier positions. We don't need squad players who can do a job - we have loads of them, we need specialists to force people who are doing a job, out of their position/onto the bench.

Someone like Rice or Ndidi or equivalent (in terms of ability), someone we expect to take first team spots.

Never watched him play. Reading that he is the Uruguayan McTominay. Would have hoped for an upgrade on him, not a sideways move.

But, as I have never watched the guy, it's better to wait for him to arrive and then evaluate.

If there’s any truth in this then I assume this would also be Oles line of thinking. I was asking in other threads who else is there out there to rotate or drop Fred. even though lots of fans don’t like him the fact is he is actually majorly important to us if we want to keep the same system. I’m convinced If we buy a sitter instead of Fred we will go flat. If you’re waiting for McT or Rice to get the ball forward to Bruno fast enough for us to capitalise to the same extent I think a lot of you will be very disappointed. I don’t see many box to box to players who can defend and chip in goals and assists. I guess this is why we have the biggest scouting network money can buy or something. Let’s hope he’s more of a awb improving signing than a VDB or Telles….

Honestly this wouldn’t surprise me all that much given the similarity of the two players and I actually think it’s the right call unless we want to rip it up and buy two players and start again

With Matic pretty much past it and Pogba being Pogba, we're sorely lacking depth in deep midfield. Not seen anything of this guy to judge, but for 20m it's worth a gamble providing we still spend further. Caf scouts creamed over Darmian and Schneiderlin before we signed them, and went apesh*t over Cavani... I'm not going to worry about it too much. Highly likely to be bull anyway, silly season is nearly upon us.

I agree, I would prefer a starting quality CDM. However it looks like we're going for Sancho and a CB as our primary targets. Therefore bringing in someone like Arambarri would make sense as Matic is well off it nowadays. I don't see Fred staying beyond the end of next season, so I don't think this would impact on us going for a specialist CDM the season after.

Thanks for the scouting update. How were you able to travel to Getafe to watch all of his games to scout him this season during the lockdown? Did you have some special permission to travel because you work for Utd?

You must have seen him a lot, to know he's 100% not good enough.

Did you not see me there when you were on your scouting trips? It's a big stadium, i guess our paths didn't cross.
