Maya Le Tissier | our new club captain

Every time out Maya reminds me more and more of Leah Williamson, especially when she's on the ball -- but I think she makes fewer errors than Leah.
 
Majestic in her play and a key part in the best defence in the country. 3 of 4 are English and the national coaching staff are surely aware.
 
I read on the BBC live text commentary that the first thing Maya did at the final whistle, after initial congrats to teammates, was to run over to the hoardings to check on a woman because one of Maya's clearances had hit the woman in the face. She stayed and had a chat with her for a bit, along with Casparij, I think, before returning to join in the huddle and celebrations.

I didn't see any of this on the tv coverage, but a classy move.

Edit: I'm obviously referring to the 0-2 away at City.

Count me among those who are baffled by Sarina's insistence on seeing MLT as an outside back. I understand national teams sometimes using players outside their normal positions if that player is not needed in her normal position but can contribute somewhere else. But now England are without both starting CBs and I can't for the life of me understand why you wouldn't slot MLT into Leah Williamson's role.

In a way, not much to discuss - I think everyone apart from Wiegman sees her as a quality CB and is baffled as to why she is not played there. And by everyone, I mean any Man Utd fan I have spoken to about this, and other clubs fans on Reddit - so not comprehensive, but to not find someone on Reddit disagreeing is rare!
 
Maya's natural position is vacant, but you know it will be Charles, Wubben-Moy, Greenwood or Carter who gets the nod. It's how it goes. She'll also be third choice right-back. Makes me sick.

That’s the bit that really sticks in the craw. Wiegman insists MLT’s best (meaning only) position is fullback and yet she refuses to play her there even when Bronze is out. I can only think that Maya must have slept with her husband or wronged her in a former life.
 
Just finished watching the Lionesses destroy a helpless China team. MLT got the start and played out the match, paired with Esme Morgan in the first half and Lotte Wubben-Moy in the second, and she looked terrific throughout. I hope and trust that Serena Wiegman has now (finally) seen the light -- and I think Leah Williamson is going to have to fight to get her position back once she is healthy again.

She won't, she'll be straight back in but Maya has a chance to partner her
