Messi in Miami

Oh give it a rest. You should thank Messi and co for bringing some attention to that dying terrible league.

Love Messi and Inter Miami. Still the winner in my eyes ❤️
Awww that's adorable. Messi will always be the winner in your heart!

The level of the MLS is ridiculously low. I watched the game in Atlanta (that made the series 1-1) and the one yesterday, and there's potbelly old dudes I see having a kickabout at the Trinity pitch in Hulme every other day, that would be star players in the MLS.

I just saw the last goal, the intensity and spaces players have are laughable (and it’s a fecking play off match)

In fairness here the space is because the players all stopped rather than playing to the whistle. Comical I agree but it’s not indicative of the general level of play.

I’m sure it’s not indicative but it’s a play off match and a crucial moment! You don’t stop the play just like that hoping for a whistle

Similar kind of loss to the CL games Barcelona lost after 2015? It's hard to win games with players not covering distance, even if they're amazing on the ball. You need everything to go for you.

The level of the MLS is shite. I don't normally like to trash leagues, but every time I watch a game, it's ridiculous how bad the level is.

I expect a lot more from the US than this.

That defense of Miami always has a thing to say in the worst time, they have to sort it out.
Cool header, good game by him, not enough for Miami to survive

Anyway, cool random vid, there is a comentary by pundit prior to the game that he already he had hitted 12 times the post at that moment and the typical tendency of Barca not resting him, ever.

Not an insane assist but a nice one. Sublime finish by Martinez.

No more football for Messi for 2.5 months.

Messi has to rest and do the best pre-season he has ever done to be sharp for next season. This season it really showed he is not fit at all.

I mean at the lvl he's playing he's doing alright. Had about a goal and an assist pr. game and helped Inter Miami to their 1st place finish.

He was unfit and poor at the copas though. But they won anyway. But as the poster above says, he's 37. Despite all the advances in sport science a lot of great players dont really have their careers prolonged that much.

The issue it's recovering form injuries, he is 37 and that it's not easy. Yet of course a proper "pre season" training always helps, to be more sharp.

Plus, let's be real, he always belonged to the I "train with the ball", relax, save energy and my main training it's "playing every fecking game I can" camp.

Of course like Diego he would do his Rambo shyte if it's needed to recover faster because of some issue or whatever, but he never was a full blown over the top trainer. Of course more calm and serious regarding his off pitch activities, his diet, but in the pitch, everyday? always more not letting himself go off road, than fully comitted.
It's quite a trademark for the majority of Brazilians and Argie genius, phenoms or cracks type of players to do it in such style and from time to time go full over the top training for certain goal or recovery. Diego was like that and even worse, but even players like Kun and Tevez too take everyday training with their particular more easy gping (sometimes bordering lazy) approach.

Im just reposting this as the video in former tweet was deleted.

I was reminded by a post by @Zehner In the Maradona thread that it is unreal Messi managed so many goals while also factoring in how many of pieces of play he had that didn't end up in a goal or an assist.

Cool vid

PD: We all know that Andres and Xavi weren't the best at finishing, worse other lesser names, but some of Lucho's missings are quite baffling.
It's incredible how many times some of his bests mate failed many easy chances and Barcelona ended loosing some very important matches, I sometimes think that having him made some of his best mates relaxed too much maybe? dunno.
On the other hand the connection and ability from Cesc to nail almost every single pass he received was trully great, a pity that Barca didn't quite worked out that duo.

Sometimes you have to wonder whether the Ronaldo fanboys were right about Messi being the "FIFA boy".

This is scandalous and undermines the prestige of the award. In a way, I like it because it's the biggest proof of the lack of credibility of these awards.

Can any Messi fan here explain why he's in this list?

Isnt the Fifa best votes cast by players and managers? But that aside he shouldn't be on the list.

The answer to all this was ALWAYS to never ever take individual awards in a team sport seriously.

It's indeed ridiculous that he's on any such list at this point in his career, but you're far too salty for what it is. It's nonsense but nobody should give a feck.

I don't think it's some mental conspiracy. Some people will rate technical ability over physicality or quality of opponents etc and he's still the most technically gifted player in the world.

I wouldn't personally have him in the list because I think it should be down to the complete package of a player. I can see how it's happened though.

He's chilling in the MLS with his mates. Might as well nominate retired technicians then.

MLS/Saudi league veterans shouldn't be anywhere near these lists.

It's crazy how some people will defend Messi no matter what. The mental gymnastics to justify his undeserved inclusion is crazy.

I said I wouldn't include him in my list. I'm not sure anyone's inclusion is worth getting upset about. He's not going to win it and no one will care about the guy who does. The Ballon d'Or is the one people care about and even then the uproar when Vinicius Jr didn't win was cringey. These awards and the obsession around who wins them have always been a bit of a joke. Made worse by the fanatical fans on each side of the Messi/Ronaldo fence.

 Literally every post after yours has laughed at the inclusion as well as the idea that individual awards are worth any more than the words on this screen, but you've still managed to find a way to get angry about this. Well done.

He shouldn't be on the list, but the idea it's this giant conspiracy against CR7(like all the lunatics on Twitter are saying so) is just beyond absurd.

To be honest, I'd like it to be a giant conspiracy against Ronaldo.

So would I actually. Just constantly inventing awards to give to him and nominating him for things he isn’t even eligible for. It would be quite fun.

This is what I don't get. What is it about Ronaldo that means there is some giant conspiracy against him? It's not as if he's a political firebrand or otherwise some 'threat' to the 'system' (which sportspeople can sometimes be). He's a petulant man-child with too much botox. Why would the powers that be 'conspire' against someone that inconsequential?
