Messi in Miami

If they qualify, I feel they'll face PSG and they are going to destroy them. Don't see this Inter beating Palmeiras, yet who knows

PD: Mascherano must find an alternative for Suarez, he has no knees, he is trully suffering out there

He said that he has to have injections in his knees just to play football with his kids.

Miami are considerably worse than they were last season, and they were terrible in defence. Now they're terrible everywhere. Rojas, Gressel, Campana, Taylor, Gomez, Farias all left.

Last seasons Miami might have lost badly to PSG. Now it'll be a bloodbath

He'll never lose that shoulder drop. He'll be 60 and still able to skin a full back with it. 38 in a few days and in the last seconds of the game, he was still ghosted past their defender in the box with it.

He'll end like Batistuta if he does not stop

It''s not even as though he's slow, either. He's still quick over 5-6 yards, and even when he's running with the ball he can carry it 10-15 yards with a burst without a problem of dealing with players around him. Would not be surprised if Argentina win the WC again. He's got it in him.

It's going to be that bad. This is him playing pumped full of steroid injections, and he still looks terrible.

Sorrry to hear that. That explains why he plays so few games these days. Doubt he'll have a great WC then.

Watched the first half and it was a painful watch. There were times when Porto where free on a breakaway and they'd just turn back. Didn't think Miami would turn it around though. Such a weird tournament, honestly feels like an exhibition match at times.

Timeless feet. He could be subbed in at 60 years old for a free kick and he'd score it exactly the same.

I do love it when a player does that stupid “lie on the floor” routine for a freekick and someone smashes it top bins anyway. Great freekick from the greatest ever.

Has it ever worked since it became popular?

The depends. By having a player always lay down on every freekick scenario, the free kick takers no longer attempt the kick under the wall, so, in that sense it's overwhelmingly successful.

If by worked you mean someone lays down and blocks a shot under the wall, then rarely, but again, for reasons above. It just isn't attempted much now. I'd imagine the moment people stop laying down for free kicks, it'll come back again.

His brain is still seconds faster than anyone on the planet. I'm convinced that if he played for any top team in the world he'd still have a shot at a Ballon D'or season.
This is hyperbole (because that damn award makes sane people say dumb stuff) but completely possible that he would be among the top 3/5 players in the league.

He wouldn't and no top team would put a punt on him.

His brain might still be faster and his technique peerless, but his body doesn't follow and has long shown that Messi can't play at the highest level anymore.

People should come to terms with the fact that one of the greatest players to ever live is on his way out. Enjoy the flashes of brilliance while you still can.

Yeah even as a Messi fan, he is clearly way past his prime. Which is normal. He's turning 38 soon. The WC in Qatar was his final swansong.

Very good FK obviously, but he's had a clear decline even from his 2023 self in Miami for me.

To be honest, I've been kind of impressed with Miami during the 2nd halves. They've managed to control the game vs 2 superior opposition.

A lucky tie, a great win and an almost win wasn't on anyone's mind.
Yet feels a tad sad that they couldn't hold it in this last match, it would be beyond a miracle if the match against PSG doesn't get extremely ugly.

I would ban lying down on free kicks. It's a disgrace to the game to see a man lying down on the pitch like he's hoping to get laid.

Agreed, plus nobody ever take them on their offer. 0% lay rate.

But his body can’t do it anymore, it’s irrelevant how quick he can think if the ball has already been taken off him by a younger faster player.

Nope. He's finished. Has been for a while now. He already looked off the pace in the CL for PSG too.

Maybe he can still do it in the lower intensity of international football or one off games for Argentina when surrounded by the right teammates.

He'll drag any top level CL team down now. Father time is undefeated. Some of the Messi meatriding is absolutely crazy and even puts the Ronaldo fanboys to shame.

Messi tried to punch Vitinha in the face and he missed him. Instead of getting the red card, he avoids getting one.

This is peak Cristiano Ronaldo 12 yo Twitter fan behaviour, what's the point man...?

Was this before or after Vitinha said he was the greatest?

Shame on the GOAT.

Dude you are getting more childish and silly with every post. For real relax a bit with the victimazation of your hero.

Bro, your countryman tried to punch Vitinha and he got away with it. It was dirty and it should be called out.

Trying to randomly sucker punch people is bad and the player should get a straight red card. That's the message.
