Messi in Miami

The most devastatingly effective move, by any player, in my time watching football. A lot of the time it’s so subtle you can only really see it in slow motion.

He only does it because his legs are too short to pull off a elastico.

So what's up with Messi not returning to Barcelona ?

Some have said that La Liga was blocking it, others that Laporta didn't want it, does anyone knows all the moving parts of why it may never happen ?

What? Messi is returning to Barca? Surely that ship has sailed.

i am not deeply into the subject, but from what I've read it seems to be propaganda/fake news in the run up to the presidential elections. Xavi (who is close with Victor Font) and probably is not the biggest friend of Laporta atm mentioned the Messi stuff in an interview.

Nah. Laporta clearly used Messi as a card to win the election and later turn his back on him. This does mean it was a good or bad choice, but that's the main reason why Messi was so affected when he left Barca, clearly he thougth everything was on track.

Yeah I saw Xavi talking about it...no new negotiations then ? All they had to do to avoid losing Messi back in the day was to sell a couple of their star players. (I think)

It looks like Messi does not want to play in europe anymore anyways.

Messi and Trump
Not sure that Lionel Messi refusing to go to the White House when he was invited by Biden to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom and then not only accepting Trump's invitation but standing there and applauding Trump's typically garbled diatribe about bombing Iran is the best look for him.

I guess you could say that this was a team invitation as opposed to an individual thing like the freedom medal, but still.....

If he had 300 goals, he would still be the best. The fact he has 900 is absolutely insane.

I agree, but would he be seen as such in this current period?...I have my doubts

Probably not. You already see a lot of disrespect on socials for the likes of Iniesta, Hazard and Drogba for their perceived lack of stats, but the fact that he was so good AND managed to get the stats boggles the mind.

Sadly I think he won't...

PD: BTW as great his stats are, fellas like Pele, DI Stefano, Puskas, Zico.. also were prolific as fvck, at times with better ratios. Not to diminish Messi's achievments, just that people tend to forget these fellas extraordinary numbers

One of the few times I’ve watched an Inter Miami game and as a whole his team are pretty bad, especially at the back

They gift goals all the time. It's said Keylor Navas might go there, that should be a GREAT keeper for once

Not in defense, but it's said that Inter Miami has obtain a loan on Matias Acevedo, a kid from racing that looks really promising, that's a good move for them. not so sure for the kid, but it's always good to share time with Messi too.

They actually bought the MLS goalkeeper of the last season - Canadian's national team keeper - but he until now does not really show that for Miami...

Didn't know, my bad, what a dick move if they went for Keylor too, unless the Canadian is really young

There current back up keeper is really good and a good agile shot stopper, they need cbs more than anything. He’s early to mid 20s and got a start since St Clair was out.

They made some odd signings and went away from the system that brought them the MLS Cup.

St Clair wasn't really needed. Berterame has been awful so far, but maybe he kicks on as the season progresses. Should have signed runners out wide and more legs in midfield, and just used Messi as the false 9 instead of behind a striker. Maybe they get better, but not sure their signings really optimize the strengths of the squad.

Alba has been a giant miss down that left flank. And even though Busquets' legs had gone, he's still been missed too.

Another free kick goal.

Only 1 fk goal away from Juninho

I guess he can a little, but I don't expect him to even put some effort
I don't think I have ever heard him utter a word of English.

It's just curious, him living in the US and all, but that's a major attraction of my Miami.

Messi's goal. I didn't write the hyperbolic title of the tweet.
