This reminds of a clip i saw where a Barca player told a similar story, i can remember his name he wasn't one the biggest stars. But he said in training they would train shooting outside the box. He said Messi scored 98 out of 100 attempts(i imagine this wasn't in one traning session). And said he's just a freak. They tried telling der stegen to pull himself together but Messi would just hit the corner of the net almost every single time.
