Some people just like to see the world burn (;)) and since the Messi vs Ronaldo thread is such a "fun" one I figured why not ask the CAF who they feel is the GOAT in basketball?

Jordan now, lebron had a chance with a strong end to his career.
Thats sort of my feeling right now. I feel it is Jordan right now but if LBJ was to win 2 or 3 more titles along with all of his individual records the case is compelling.

I think Lebron might possibly be the most talented basketball player ever but Jordan is the greatest.

More of a Larry Bird guy myself tbh:yawn: Love his confidence and cockiness.

LeBron scores about the same and assists more so clearly he's better :wenger:

Joking aside, it's definitely Jordan as of now. LeBron has enough time to make it into a contest, don't think he'll ever do it though.

If had a better win/loss record in the finals he would be the clear winner because he is the most talented IMO and has the longevity 35years old and still averaged 27 PPG last season which is incredible.

At the same time Jordans record in the finals speaks for itself truly remarkable.

MJ.

This is from 2018, so if LeBron added anything to his stats, apologies. (It won’t change the outcome)

Scoring Titles – Jordan – 10, LeBron -1

Jordan’s Bulls defeated seven 60+ win teams (a record for a dynasty team in a decade) and 20 teams that had between 50-59 wins.

27 of the 37 playoff opponents Jordan faced had over 50 wins, while 18 of LeBron’s opponents (out of 37) had under 50 wins.

All-Defense First Team – Jordan 9 times, James 5 times

Steals Titles – Jordan three time winner, James zero times

Jordan also won the 1988 Defensive Player of the Year

Playoff game-winners/tie-ers with 24 seconds or less
– Jordan 9/18 (50%)
– LeBron 8/23 (35%)

Playoff game-winners/tie-ers with 25 seconds or less
– Jordan 10/19 (53%)
– LeBron 8/23 (35%)

Finals game-winners/tie-ers with 25 seconds or less
– Jordan 4/8 (50%)
– LeBron 0/6 (0%)

Jordan - 6 finals, 6 titles, 6 finals MVPs
LeBron - 8 finals, 3 titles, 3 finals MVPs

Jordan - 5 season MVPs
LeBron - 4 season MVPs

Jordan
Chamberlain
James

I think are the clear top 3. Then you can make an argument for any of the following

Kareem
Magic
Bird

And then the next tier down would include

Duncan
Hakeem
Bryant
Garnett
Shaw
Barkley
Malone
Robertson
Erving
I agree with this for sure. For me it would be as of right now unless LBJ somehow wins 3 more rings.
1.Jordan
2.LBJ
3.Wilt
4.Larry Bird/Magic
5.Larry Bird/Magic (I cant decide who is 4 or 5 between those two:nervous:)

Also worth adding Shaq to that second Tier arguably the most dominant player ever. Had he actually taken care of his body I wonder how many more rings he could of got.

No, this has been set in stone for a while. Chris Broussard said it well recently, Lebron can never surpass Michael Jordan as a player but in terms of player power, impact and being a boss in the NBA, he has.

Jordan fanboys will of course say Jordan but he was always carried by his Xavi and Iniesta whereas Lebron has gone to different teams and won games by himself. Lebron has also won tournaments with that national team. Jordan often disappears on the big stage.

MJ - by a distance. Nothing against LeBron but Jordan was something else.

Has Steph Curry got any chance of being in this conversation or is he more of a Beckham style once in a generation player with a very specific skill?

Curry's great but LeBron's a different gravy entirely.

I don't think that he gets into Top 10, for me @Eboue's list his spot on. People will argue between the Top 3 , though some will argue that Kareem is in the Top 3 but I don't know who drops from Chamberlain and James.
