Didn’t see a thread on him, spectacular goal for a centre back to score, and he ran through the United team one time too.

Not flawless, but a brilliant performance in the Europa League final against United got them into the CL in the first place with that goal line clearance. Surely heading to higher places than Tottenham eventually?

(hopefully jinx him for the weekend)

Hopefully he pulled a hammy doing that.
He is fecking rapid, bale-esque at top speed. What a goal that is.

He's an absolute horse athletically, maybe the fastest and most powerful CB around. If you want a CB to patrol a high line and dominate races on balls over the top and into the channels, he's your guy.

I'm not really sold on the rest of his game. Not terrible or anything but I don't see anything special in his passing ability and his reading of the game and defending in smaller spaces doesn't stand out.

He's just Erling Haaland playing at centre back

Would be a dream LCB signing.

Would cost anyone who wants him an absolute bomb though.

Should have passed it tbf ;)

This, he is the fastest and most powerful CB around for me, was the fastest player in the league last season I believe. But watch Chelsea's goal vs them the other day, he is not great on the ball under the press, his passing is so so, his positioning is sometimes a bit suspect but you dont really notice it due to how rapid the guy is. Was a bit of a rough diamond when he arrived at Spurs, he has improved mind, and if he keeps improving those aspects of his game he will be a sensational CB. I guess for Spurs they are lucky they have a smooth operator next to him in Romero, you wont find too many CB's better on the ball than him.

VDV was perfect for that suicidal high line of Postecoglu, they really noticed when he was out injured.

He would have been the perfect player to replace Walker at City for Pep's system.

He had a similar run against United last season where he assisted the first goal in their 3-0 win. He has these power run moments but can be very suspect defensively at times. Good player though.

Physicality isn't everything in football, but it is a lot. When you're as strong and fast as Van De Ven that's a hell of a starting point.

Wouldn't mind us going for him down the line assuming our 3 at the back sticks around.

He's a brilliant player, pretty much exactly what you want in a modern CB.

He cost them 50m, your looking at a world record transfer for a defender to get him.

Can he play wingback?

Can he play wingback?
Yes, he plays wingback in our national team. Think he will eventually replace Van Dijk center left though (soon if you ask me).

He's injury prone though. Very much so.

Never understood why people don't just chop someone down in that situation now. Amazing run though. He's a physical freak.

He is like a winger playing at Cb.

Physical freak but not the best defender or passer. Have to tailor a system to get the best out of him.

I think he would do better in a 3 at the back where you give him license to burst and other 2 cb then tuck in.

Always reluctant to give too much praise when not one defender was able to put even a half hearted challenge in. The defender facing him just ran past him. Joke defending.

Was a good goal but far too school ground for me.

I remember the goal he scored against us. Haven't forgotten him since. Our scouts definitely need to keep an eye on him.

I don't know much about his overall game. Is he good enough for what we are trying to build?

The praise I tend to see about this guy is about everything other than defending

One opposition player attempted a tackle. All he had to do was run fast. Easy finish. What's all the fuss about?

The Dutch are really stacked with CBs for the World Cup (big fan of Van Hecke). He needs to be starting the tournament for them as had bit part in the last Euros.

Insane pace and reasonably strong as well, but otherwise not anything special as a centre back.

He did the same run against us last season, hopefully we put a tactic in place that if he tries that Saturday, we take the ball from him and counter within the space he leaves behind.
