Micky Van De Ven

No thanks. His form and behaviour has put me right off. Don't want someone who downs tools

Whatever we think, Amorim and the board did their best to get rid of idiots who do that. Why would we go back and get someone in who goes against the type of squad we want to build

He's injury prone and vastly overrated along with many spurs players

The only 2 I would take is Porro and the young lad Bergvall (albeit its not the position we need, but if we had space for him I would take him)

I think he's outright bad at actually defending, especially anywhere near his penalty area.

However I'm also completely unsurprised big teams are interested in him, as his pace and ability on the ball make him an obvious profile fit for any team playing a high defensive line. And he can also play/cover at fullback.

Less interested in the player himself than the idea of actually being able to play that sort of defensive line, which our current CBs would struggle with.

De Ligt and Martinez cannot be relied upon for a full season with their injuries. I don't rate Yoro and Heaven is still raw. We probably do need a centre-back. Not sure Van De Ven is the one, but if he's relatively cheap if Spurs do go down it's not the worst business.

Undoubtedly an incredibly powerful runner but I feel like his pace masks a lot. Add it that his explosiveness makes him susceptible to hamstring injuries and not sure it's worth it.

Big, runs fast, dives into last ditch tackles and goes on a mazy run once or twice a season. Bang average at actually defending.

No thanks.

Really depends on the price - seeing how much Spurs paid for him (34.5m + 8.5m add ons) unless they get relegated and he has a clause, they're going to try get like 70-80m out of him. I don't think he would be an upgrade on Martinez either. Van de Ven statistically doesn't really stand out and even the eye test shows he's got fundamental issues when it comes to defending. In the prem there are better alternatives: Senesi on a free would be a much better option, Jan Paul van Hecke is better, Morato from Forest. Even outside the prem: Lukeba is way better and would be the same price point

Very different player to Martinez, almost apples and oranges.

Martinez is a player we need to replace, VDV has would be similar is a way that he has some exceptional strengths, but massive glaring weaknesses. I don’t think he’s the right player, and he would be £60-70m even if relegated.

Huge no.

His attitude on Spurs run has been rotten. Compare that with someone like Martinez who gives his absolute all in every game and I don't want to see it.

We've just removed the "questionable characters", let's not get one back.

Also, I think he's a certainty for Liverpool.

No thanks. He's one of those players that can impress fans because he's always making last ditch saving tackle, but they never question why he has to do that in the first place.

We're well set for CB for at least one more season, so we can take our time to find a player in that position. No need to rush for someone substandard just because they're available now.

We are not well set at CB its a bigger disaster waiting to happen with more taxing schedule next season , what we have is Collection of two youngsters with 3 injury Prone Average CB's who have seen us conceding more than 50 goals last season and on course for the same this season .

He would be a good LB for someone but he's an average CB that uses his pace to cover for his overall deficiencies.

Can't be arsed with playing a backline of all centrebacks like Arsenal do. Makes for atrocious football.

Not a big fan of van de Ven but if Spurs go down and we can get him for cheap then I can get on board with it.

Goals conceded is about more than your CBS. And 5 CBs and 2 FBs who can deputise is absolutely fine given our ambitions. Our priority is midfield, simple as that.

I hope a lot of the transfer links are noise being generated from agents, van de Wen has got to be one of the most overrated CBs in the Premier League.

He relies on his speed to get him out of so many mistakes he makes and puts in tackles that are incredibly dangerous, but get lauded by comms/pundits despite having the potential to seriously injure opponents. He also has one of van Dijk's traits, to put any defensive error on somebody else and take no responsibility himself.

It's a NO for me.

Remove his pace,he is an average defender.

From the outside looking in, he seem to have a personality that we have been trying to avoid.I would rather Senesi or Forest's Murillo.

Imagine how many red cards he’d get here where all of his potential leg breakers are actually officiated correctly. For bonus points, he might actually break legs in our colours and shame the club. Next we’ll be linked to his striker equivalent, Liam Delap.

I'd rather Van Hecke.

Much better player.
Disagree as we’ve seen with a variety of Brighton players protected by the system in which they play in, Van De Ven has looked half decent in a turgid spurs side. Van Hecke in a high line in a UCL level game with his speed next to Maguire would be ripped asunder on top of that Van De Ven is a year younger.

I don’t trust any Van men since Donny. The absolute fanny.

Maguire would be the problem in that made up scenario.

Van Hecke is a better and more intelligent player overall, better defender, technically a much better footballer and more awareness and variety in his use of the ball. Plus he's pretty good at breaking forward and linking up higher up the pitch when needed.

VDV has a bit more pace, that's really it.
