Micky Van De Ven

So I've heard. Crazy thing is, he'd end up replacing Van de Ven and wil probably be a better player for them. For me, we have Heaven, who, to me, looks like a great prospect. Having experience as the other option is ideal.
I like Senesi but seems we’ve set our stall out with age threshold (25, 26 as an exception)… we want to comfortably have time (2-3 years in) to consider if we renew their contract or sell while still have some value.

VDV is a good player - I just dont feel he is what we need. We have 5 good central defenders, we don't need another good central defender. We need a GREAT central defender if we are going to buy one. And certainly not at the price he will cost us.
Is he better than Maguire, Martinez, deLigt, Yoro and Heaven. Maybe just - but we are not spending £50-60 million (if Spurs go down he might go for that amount) on a central defender who isn't almost guaranteed to strengthen us
Two of them can’t stay fit and one is 33.

Who is that great central defender that's gettable, oh and won't affect prioritising our midfield rebuild too

Absolutely not. He's an awful defender. Don't get how people actually rate him.
He got embarrassed against Atletico, but the GK saved him from the headlines.

Romero is the only defender at Spurs that cuts it at a top 6 team. Unfortunately he's a bit mad.

He's awful as centre back but as left back, he could work perfectly playing with Licha as our LCB.

Even in modern football, team tend to use CB as full backs and City won their treble playing CB as full backs. His physicality, athleticism and great pace would be great benefit for any team that wants to play high line and be a dominant team. It depends how the manager wants to use him. As a left back with those treats, he would compliment Licha on the left side.

This lad is out of contract.

Too much is made of this ‘age threshold’, we will buy older players, but the days of buying a 30 year old midfielder for £70m on £350pw are gone.

If we wanted a CB who can play LB too, we should have signed Jorrel Hato or Piero Hincapie. I don't see Van De Ven as a good LB as them.

Didn’t know that, could be something that would change board stance but still seems he goes to Spurs (as long as not relegated)

I didn't say there is such a defender available - I am simply saing we can't spend £50-60 million on a defender who isn't a lot better than what we already have.

Good point, although United have far more limited resources, and they were at a far higher level than we are currently when they bought him. We need a LB, I think it’s best to go after a left back.
Yeah I would prefer to sign a proper LB than this guy, ideally Hall but no chance Newcastle sell so maybe try and sign Diouf from West Ham who has potential.
