Mikel Arteta | Lego Pep watch

If City win the title this season then surely Arteta will just pack up and leave.

I think Guardiola leaves this season if they do get over the line but I don't think City are what they were. Arsenal's depth is better than two seasons ago but Arteta will at some point need to let the handbrake off like the Sunderland second half.

MIght not be witty or funny, but not sure if you've watched Utd or Everton the last couple of years, the reality is certainly there.
Yeah, so we know shite football when we see it, and Mikel Pulis’s Arsenal play absolute shit on a stick football! We’ll see if your fan base continue to tolerate it if you go on to bottle another league.

Why would he do that? More than likely he gets at least 2nd place this season, and as you say, Pep probably does not have many years left. The opportunity to eventually win the league will just increase when it happens.

They’re absolutely not. They’re still quite good, but City of 3 or 4 seasons ago would have absolutely battered us and the c**ts Liverpool by 5 or 6. Arsenal are going to win the league quite comfortably, I reckon. It’ll be incredibly dull and attritional but whilst I think City will be second, I can’t see them being able to apply enough pressure for a bottling. Suspect it’ll be like last season where the title is as good as won by January.

I don't think United or Everton fans believe that we play scintilating football though, we all acknowledge we are shite.

I trust two things in my life, my gut and Arsenal doing an Arsenal towards the end of the season. It hasn't failed me yet and it will never do.

If the cringe dude at the wheel will let the handbrake off, they might have a chance, but in the last few seasons he has been their worst enemy and I don't see that changing.

I remember that like it was yesterday
Not enough to know it didn't happen. There was a 1-0 win in 2016 when Mourinho had already been sacked. Mourinho didn't win at the Emirates during his second spell (in fact I think he only won at the Emirates while with United).

Couple of weeks ago I told my Arsenal friends they wouldn't win this as city would go on a yearly 10 game run and got laughed at. They are not as giddy this time around.

We shall just agree to disagree.

I mean you’re on a United forum so what do you expect?

Reactions like i hoped to get with my post.

Good, I'm glad we've established that at least.

Disagree on what? You genuinely believe Arsenal play nice football?

I don't think it's free flowing and as attacking as peak City or Liverpool, but i think it's well overblown that we play poor football, yeah.

Our problem is that it seems to come in batches, 2nd half vs Atletico, first half vs Burnley, 2nd half vs Sunderland.

Genuinely, what do you mean by nice football?

I don't understand the current discourse on Arsenal's brand of football.

Guardiola's Tikitaka was demonized because they pass the opponents to death. Even tagged as boring.

Arsenal currently deploys the highest defensive line in the league, which means we play our football mostly in the oppositions half.

Arsenal has the most touches in the opposition box. If the other team doesn't like it, they are welcome to attack.

You are mad at Arsenal just like the Tikitaka era for Arsenal's efficiency and oppositions deficiency.

Arteta doesn't like high variance, jeopardy football and all of Arsenal fans love it.

I completely get rival fans who think Arsenal's style of play is dull. Lots of Arsenal fans do, too. Entertainment is subjective; plenty of people think Pep's football is boring. But yeah I agree, our football isn't poor at all. The way some are going on about our style of play has become a bit detached from reality.

Our problem is that it seems to come in batches, 2nd half vs Atletico, first half vs Burnley, 2nd half vs Sunderland.
I think our biggest problem is that we have 6 forwards out injured at the moment and so we were forced to select Mikel Merino in his 18th game as CF for us, a position he had never played before signing for the club.

They’re closer to winning league title under Arteta than they have been for about 20 years aside for one second place finish 10 years ago. I think as long as they’re pushing for a title win they’ll stick with him, regardless of the fact their football isn’t very attractive on the eye.

Yeah not fussed about the result, I’m just referring to the boring, boring Chelsea chants

Regarding arsenal keeping arteta or not. They aren't madrid, city, psg or bayern. They cannot have pretty much any top coach they want. As long as he finishes top 4 they should keep him imo. It is not easy to stay competitive. United prove this.

Why do so many players come back from internationals with injuries. It seems really disproportionate.

Is this a pre-emptive excuse for some whining from Arteta or something? I fail to see the relevance to the thread.

Presumably because Arsenal’s first choice LCB and LB got injured on international duty. And Mikel Arteta manages Arsenal.

I mean, it wasn’t that hard to see the relevance, surely.

Well if the Arteta is a whining cnut thread is now your general thread about Arsenal then I suppose you've let us win, how very Arsenal of you!

Nowadays career threatening injuries happened frequently for players not only in international duties but generally even during training at the club.

Training methods, congested calender, game intensity in games especially in PL there is no easy matches.

Need to make things better for players. Referees also should protect players more from rash challenges.

This will become the mantra for their failure to win a big prize again this season.

Lego-Peps nearly men will surely bottle it again this season and we know his reasons already….

It's crazy to think that injuries and the ability to get your main players fit and available most weeks actually contributes massively to performances and results.

How is it not relevant to the manager? It would drive me nuts as a manager.
You have some players on the verge of coming back and you lose half you defense.

I dont understand why it happens so often. I guess it's a different environment....eagerness to shine maybe, pressure...I dont know. But these internationals, and rather meaningless ones often, are quite destructive. They need to bunch these internationals together somehow.

No, I think we have just about enough right now to cover that, but if this continues, it will have an effect.

I am sorry to say that I think if city play to their level they will win the league. I would back guardiola to win against anyone when he has an equal or stronger team in a league race. Imo madrid may have won only two leagues since pep took over city if they were competing with him (17 & 24). That is how good guardiola and city are imo. Also maybe it's harsh to call arsenal bottlers in 24. They had 89 pts and that normally wins the league

Pep, as great as he is, isn't even the scariest thing about Man City now for me.

It's that big T100 they have up front on course for smashing 30 goals, given an even greater sense of inevitability than Salah last season who could 'only' manage 29.
