Mikel Arteta | Lego Pep watch

I see everyone is taking it well, but hey cheer up we're getting slapped in the final, right?

You’re doing football a favor in my opinion. Beating the biggest cheaters in history to the league and now hopefully knocking off another regime team in the final. If you beat any of these teams in the final you have the right to be called best in Europe

Wait why are Bayern the bad guys?

It's gonna be really tough but if we can ride the positive momentum of the convincing Fulham win, City dropping points and last night and use that to get past West Ham, Burnley and Palace to finally win the league again then you just never know. Anything can happen in a one off game.

It's one of those for me where he and the club deserve credit for managing to stick together for so long and build with signings that are largely 'hits' with little to no misses in there, and even when you've signed someone and then sold them it's usually been a decent sale like Ramsdale. At the same time, when you spend that much money and have a wage bill which has generally been around top 3 for the past three seasons, you're generally doing what should be expected of yourselves.

I'm not sure that's true. This is from 23/24 for instance.

From 24/25 Deloitte money league, we are
9th in Europe on wages, and 4th in England.

Wait why are Bayern the bad guys?

Arsenal are. Played a r*pist every week in their midfield. Funny how he was charged as soon as his contract ended.

I hope PSG absolutely hammer Arsenal in the final.

9th in Europe on wages, and still just 5th in England.

Fair enough, I used capology but that is guesstimates based on reporting of wages etc.

I've already given my thoughts on Arteta on here and I don't like defending him but if it's that simple why don't other clubs just do what we've done? Just hire a manager, ignore the external noise, give him loads of money and then wait. I haven't checked the exact amounts but I'm sure the other top English clubs have spent a comparable amount to us in the last 6 years. I'd be very surprised if we're somehow blowing everyone out of the water, I didn't realise we were that rich now

I imagine because United are a different commercial beast compared to Arsenal and probable potential risk of having any dips is too strong. I did say in my post that Arteta and the club deserve credit for the way they've managed to spend that money as you aren't guaranteed success from doing it, but it obviously plays a factor in it.

According to transfermarkt you're 2nd in terms of net spend transfer wise for the past 5 years and 10 years with three teams over 700m in the 5 years (United, Arsenal, Chelsea), and four teams over 1bn in the 10 years (United, Arsenal, City, Chelsea).

He will obviously deserve lots of credit if they end the season with one or two trophies. Both a PL or a CL would be a huge change in Arsenal's fortunes recently, and the fans rightly won't care about all the noise around style of play or anything like that.

I think the context around their current lead in the PL and CL final spot is worth remembering though. In the league the competition is the weakest it's been for a long time with practically every other team having an off year. They actually did manage to bottle the lead to City, but thankfully for them they did it early enough for City to re-bottle it. And in the CL the draw has been really kind to them. Leverkusen, Sporting and Atletico makes for one of the easier final runs in recent years.

Ultimately they still have to capitalize on these circumstances, and it looks like they'll do it in the league. A CL final is more like a 50/50. They won't get easily beaten by either PSG or Bayern. In any case, it doesn't happen without Arteta doing a good job with management, and the sporting directors having done a good job building a squad.

The irony of your post, when PSG are owned by Qatar, a nation that makes it illegal to be gay or transgender and continue to arrest/prosecute people in this group.

Hakimi is also accused of rape and will stand trial for it soon

And yet, still that seems more palatable than Arteta winning trophies…
I'd give everything to see him lose the PL and CL on the finish line. Everything. I'm not being dramatic here, but I would donate a kidney to see his face when he realizes that this will be yet another trophyless season.

How much is a kidney worth on the black market these days? If we end up winning nothing I'll take it

I would rather see a proper club win the league and the CL than the cheating, sports washing clubs of Man City and PSG.

Hopefully Bayern win the CL though.

Credit where it's due tbh. He's invented the pressing manager role.

Arteta is a perpetual loser. He never cut it at the highest level as a player and it’s obvious, that he’s bitter about it. And when he became a coach, he wanted to show the world how great he is. And he failed. So he started to cheat at every given opportunity. It’s the core principal to what they are doing. And thus, he might win. But deep down he knows, that it’s meaningless and he will never belong at the highest level.
Nothing but a shameless and bitter fraud. I have never before despised a manager as much as him.

It's all means to an end - if they win the double this year, Arteta will be knighted.
By the Spanish king?
In a world where City and Pool have been winning I don't mind Arsenal winning the league and they deserve to be in the final, whether they have enough to win is another matter. Arteta has done a great job at Arsenal imo. If he wins the league or champions league it will be well deserved and done via building a very good team. Regardless of the style of football.

We really need to get our act together though. Pool can overtake our title count, City will probably challenge for europe again at some point (no doubting their owners would be aiming to get them to win more champs league titles than us). We need to start competing/winning the big titles soon.
Well said. We need to get back to winning big trophies again. We need elite managers.

Yes, I can get behind this!

Get off of the fence and tell us how you feel about him.

I used to feel this way about Mourinho so I get it. It'll be a nightmare for you if we end up playing each other in the final.

On the one hand, beating him and seeing him sad is going to make the win even better. But imagine losing and watching him celebrate obnoxiously. I don't know if I could take it

I fully expect us to lose against Arsenal. There’s nothing we’re better at than losing against negative teams. Doesn’t matter how we play, how good or bad we are. I don’t trust games like that.

True failure.

Murphy and Jordan were on TalkSport this morning praising that his behaviour has improved this season and I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

As much as I hate these revolting toerags, the refs piss me off more. The dark arts are only made possible because the refs are too pussy/braindead to do anything about it.

Arteta was basically on the pitch yesterday, blocking throw-ins and nothing happens.

Gabriel gives Simeone's son a nipple cripple when he's through on goal and nothing happens.

Gabriel kicks an attacker and then goes down as if someone rammed a javelin up his arse and the ref falls for it, not giving the stone wall penalty that Atletico should have gotten 3 seconds later.

The only good thing is it was funny seeing this shit happen to Simeone, who is the scrote that refined these dark arts.

The final will be football vs. shit-on-a-stick. Last time this happened, Spain beat England so hoping football wins again here.

I'm not even sure where to start. This is a crazy take
