2nd division is probably more physical then the first but he was not near Jong Ajax, if he stayed at Ajax he wouldve probably played for the A2 or U18s, maybe a few games for the U19s but he was probably 2 seasons away from Jong Ajax.
Grazie!

Yeah, I know. Just thought that the Dutch 2nd division isn’t nowhere near as physical as, say, English lower leagues.
Oh no, even if it was, Ajax don't promote players that far ahead of their age usually. If he was an u19, he would probably still have a hard time getting into that Jong Ajax squad unless he was very highly rated. As always there are exceptions to the rule.

The only one who's been promoted that quickly is Matthijs de Ligt, think he was 15 when he made his debut for Jong Ajax.

True. Thought of Bazoer and other exceptional talents. But as been said, Baars seems to lack the physicality. Tall boy though, there's always time for bulking up, there's plenty of other, more important things to build on at that age.

The only picture he posted says: Follow my new account: @MMillen_ (that's changed now I think) and unfollow this one.
Yes, that "new one" doesn't exist and his bio in that one says U15 Ajax player, compared to "Player of Manchester United" in the correct one. Much more followers, too. United's U16 gk Jacob Carney being one of them.

How they gonna play every of them after January then? Promote Boonen to the U23s then start with front 4 of Baars,Gomes,Chong,Burkart? Wouldn't be surprised if we ship a host of U23s out on loan on January.

Like others mentioned earlier in the thread, the rumors that Ajax had problems with attitude is BS.. I think it was his agents that made life difficult for Ajax. Hard to believe that a player who had attitude issues was made captain at the start of the season and then suddenly they notice problems with his attitude?

I haven't read the article but if there are quotes from Baars' father then it is on MEN as well. Check out there.

Manchester United overcame competition from Chelsea and Arsenal to sign Dutch talent Millen Baars from Ajax.

Baars, 16, has followed fellow Netherlands teenager Tahith Chong to United and will be eligible to play for Kieran McKenna's United Under-18s in January.

Ajax appointed Baars captain of the B1 side but he decided to leave the club and the avatar on his Instagram page appears to show him clad in United training gear.

"We have had talks with Ajax that were between Millen and the club," his father told Noordhollands Dagblad. "But it was certainly nothing shocking, he was even appointed captain this season of the B1.

"Ajax is a great club with a very good youth, but they can unfortunately not cope so very well. You saw in the past with other youth players who now play at other clubs. But Millen was ready for a different challenge.

"He played nine seasons in Amsterdam and he has always had the dream to play football in England."

"There was interest from Italy, Portugal and England, but when he was at Chelsea and United to look, he knew he wanted to play in Manchester. He did not even see Arsenal, his choice was made."

It is understood Baars is awaiting international clearance but has already featured for United's U16s.

United have previously signed Timothy Fosu-Mensah and 2011 FA Youth Cup winner Gyliano van Velzen from Ajax. Daley Blind was signed in a £13.8million deal from the Amsterdam club in 2014.

The club's academy drive has escalated over the last year, with DJ Buffonge, Tahith Chong, Lee O'Connor, Nishan Burkart and Joshua Bohui all arriving.

Academy head Nicky Butt said earlier this year the club would make a number of academy signings.

"We’re short on a few numbers in the different age groups and it’s something we need to address," Butt said last season. "Something we are addressing and something we will hopefully get over the line in the next few weeks, in time for next season.

"It’s the same as any other club. We all want to attract the best young players in Europe, at whatever age, and we’re exactly the same. We want to attract the best players we can from all over Europe and bring them into what we feel is already a great set-up."

Even if he had already gotten his clearance, Baars still wouldn't be able to play in the U18s because he needs to be registered.

Van Velzen - now there's a blast from the past. Playing in the division below Eridivese apparently.

I'm not writing him off, far from... but just got me thinking when he missed another sitter today, that he's not really looking great so far in his United career. Can't really see his strenghts to be honest. What do you guys think?
