Miscellaneous Reserve/Youth News

Just watched the U18 v Blackburn, they were the crudest team I've seen in a long time. Every time they went into the tackle it seemed with the intention just putting our lads on the floor. Having watched Sammy McilRoy play it was disappointing to see his grandson play for this mob.

Yeah agreed - there was a guy who made 6-7 fouls without getting a yellow card.

Mediterranean International Cup begins tomorrow for our U12s. Their opening game against American side Strikers FC will be streamed here: https://www.esportplus.tv/events/69ca6e6e88b2428c46dbee56/

Their other two group games are on Thursday but I don't believe they will be broadcast. Fixture & squad info can be found here: https://live.micfootball.com/

7-1 win over Strikers FC. Initially struggled in really difficult weather conditions but grew into the game & dominated. Goals from Nico Cadeau x3, Thierry Pusey x3 & Cian McCormick.

Really good game to watch, looks like a very talented team too. Nico was very impressive.

Just reading the list of FA Agent fees and under our section, there is Harry Amass, Lacey, Wheatley, Vitek all in updated contracts bit, meaning we've changed their contracts, so maybe we've given them extensions which have been unannounced.

U12s won their second group game 5-0 against Japanese side Wakatake. Goals from Nico Sevcenka, Mo Zakariyaev, Thierry Pusey, Junior Fontoh & Felix Francis.

7-1 win over EF Gironès-Sàbat to to end the group stage. Goals from Fontoh x2, Francis x2, McCormick, Belski & Sevcenka.

Believe United will play Strikers FC tomorrow in the round of 16. A different Strikers group to the one we already played.

I think the last time I watched some matches from this tournament, United's best player was Max Mallem, who left for City just a few months afterwards.

Don't have a single player in England u16. This is kinda weird.

1-0 win over Strikers thanks to an OG after excellent work from Thierry Pusey. United will face French side Gardia Club in the QFs at 16:00, with a potential semi-final against Real Madrid on the cards.

3-0 win over Gardia Club. Leo Brookes, Felix Francis & Nico Cadeau with the goals.

U14s are in France for the Tournoi Sans Frontière, with their opening game against Lyon at 18:30. All the tournament's games will be shown via the link below, although the streams are a bit dodgy at the moment.

Are you sure Layton halal exists? Not a single Google hit from what I can see.

United lost 7-1 to Real Madrid in the Semi-Final this morning. United's goal didn't come until Madrid were already 7-0 up; Nico Cadeau with the consolation.

It was a pretty brutal watch tbh. Madrid were quick and sharp. United looked tired and sloppy across the pitch. Perhaps Madrid being more used to the heat, or yesterday's exertions catching up with them? But they were generally second to every ball.

1-0 loss to Auxerre. Game of few chances, their goal coming from a free-kick.

Numbers 3,7, 9.. not really good enough.
Ellis Mills looks great though, very tenacious and creative. Salisu and midfielders good too.

14s drew 1-1 with Lens in their final group game, Mo Ibragimov with the goal. They finish 2nd in their group & now progress to a second group, this time of 3 teams.

Also, I think our #8 is Reece Millward & not Ellis Mills as I thought before.

Lille & Bayern will be our opponents. Bayern game kicks off in 10 minutes.

1-0 loss to Bayern. United were reduced to 10 towards the end of the match after Ibragimov was given a straight red for a late challenge on the keeper.

14s drew 0-0 with Lille. Played really well and hit the bar in the 2nd half but unfortunately are now out. Will play a couple of placement matches now.

0-0 draw with Lyon (0-3 on pens). United played well again & had the chances to win the game, with two attempts being cleared off the line.

Final game is against Toulouse tomorrow morning.

0-0 draw followed by another loss on pens. United keeper Zico Honor took United’s first pen, scored & then went on to save 2 pens but unfortunately wasn’t enough.

U15s drew 0-0 with Midtjylland, then lost on penalties but for whatever reason ended up being given the win. They then beat Aalborg 4-1 (Marsden-Umebuani x2, Okeke, Dore) to end the tournament in 9th.

U14s finished the tournament in 12th but with the joint best defensive record, conceding just 3 goals in 7 matches.

Saw some really positive things. The technical level of the squad was excellent, they just struggled a bit against bigger & likely older sides. Reece Millward, Sam Laurie & Mo Ibragimov were the standouts for me.

U12s:
Ayobami Fagbenle 4
Ellis Mills 2
Pharell Silvester 2
Cole Marsden-Umebuani 2

The above post is from a couple of years back.

I've seen Mills, Silvester, and Marsden-Umebuani all mentioned on here in the recent youth tournaments, but can't see anything else in the last year of the top scorer Ayobami Fagbenle.

Is he out injured, or did Man City nick him as well?!
