What could go wrong with issuing a long term deal for a pacy player who just turned 30?

Bloody hell!
His best days are behind him.
Golden boot winner again last year and PFA PotY. I swear we say the same thing about Salah every year and yet when we are building the EFL teams he's the first name in.

For me, his arrival was the final piece in the jigsaw for Liverpool's title triumph (washes mouth out with soap). Hate to admit it, but he's class. Way better play, to my mind, than Rush or Fowler (maybe not than Owen however)

I was more worried they'd cash in and find the next Salah to be honest. He's top class, but he's not going to get better than he is now.

£350k/week... meh, 6 months of good performances at United and we would be dishing out £400k/week for 5 years

I guess we could only afford to pay one of Mane or Salah the big bucks. Glad we're not losing him for free.

I think that Mane moving away left Salah in a very strong negotiating position, losing both in 1 year would have been a disaster. But between 350 and 400k a week for a 30 year old is like something Utd would do, maybe the wheel is turning again and they will turn into us.

It’s obvious what has happened here.

Liverpool don’t want to lose Salah on a free, so they have agreed this contract of 350k a week. Its most likely to have clause in the contract next summer if a club offers 50m, then he can go. Which most likely will be activated. ( wouldn’t be surprised if Barcelona have already agreed this)

This way they keep the rest of the squad happy and tell everyone it’s not broke any wage structure.

I thought such clauses weren’t legal in British football

Only regressing from now. His peak was 12 months ago. However knowing them, it wouldn’t surprise me if they sold him to Madrid in 12 months time for £60 million and this is another piece of brilliant boardroom business

I'm a newbie. And even I, upon hearing the news, thought immediately of how wrong Choccy was.

The following predictive text paragraph is dedicated to our beloved Choccy:

Choccy is a composite of 22. We will have a few minutes of sleep and a half hour to walk through a few decades. The main road of the house is a little bit like a blade. Grtuupklmnbvcc

Seen some Liverpool fans upset the club caved and aren't happy with Salah and his sgent. Can anyone explain the reasoning?

I'll take a stab at it, sure.

The idea that a Liverpool player could be motivated by greed alone - just like every other top-tier footballer on the planet - is absurd to fans of their club.

I know it's been a tough season for Pool but I'm still surprised they're considering a move to Spain. Then again Scouseland is hardly Mallorca.

Liverpool will be lumped with him due to that fat contract they gave him, though not a bad player to be lumped with, mind. He's still capable of looking class.
