Cheers for an interesting piece, Crash. ;)

Our own (as in fellow Red) Daniel Harding conducted an absolutely outstanding performance of Et Exspecto... here in Stockholm a week ago. Here's Haitink:

Alles endet, was entstehet.
Alles, alles rings vergehet,
Denn die Zeit flieht, und die Sonne
Sieht, daß alles rings vergehet,
Denken, Reden, Schmerz, und Wonne;
Und die wir zu Enkeln hatten
Schwanden wie bei Tag die Schatten,
Wie ein Dunst im Windeshauch.

Menschen waren wir ja auch,
Froh und traurig, so wie ihr,
Und nun sind wir leblos hier,
Sind nur Erde, wie ihr sehet.
Alles ended, was entstehet.
Alles, alles rings vergehet.

Cheers Nani! :D Sorry I'm so slow.

Here's Pirogov's heartbreaking death of Boris (from 3:00 (here) on out in any recording of Boris I always, always cry) --

In contrast, thinking about cheering-up, I tried to find the Reizen recording of Poputnaya Pesnya, but no joy, so here is Hvorostovsky in a very clean & orderly version :angel: -- but still fun!

Posting one of my fave Exsultate, jubilate not just because I love Bartoli, but look what an idiot wrote in the comments

häßliche Stimme, dümmliches Aussehen. Furchtbar.

Piss off.

Do not ever care what people say, not ever. Look at what that shitehouse posted. And then listen.

Zion hört die Wächter singen,
Das Herz tut ihr vor Freuden springen,
Sie wachet und steht eilend auf.
Ihr Freund kommt vom Himmel prächtig,
Von Gnaden stark, von Wahrheit mächtig;
Ihr Licht wird hell, ihr Stern geht auf.

Us and Them: The Symphony Pink Floyd is a bit of a miss. Some interesting arrangements, but original stuff is quite superior. Us and Them is probably my favourite on the album.

This one's just plain awesome!

Bach: Harpsichord (Piano in this case) Concerto No. 7 in G minor, II. Andante

Freiwilliges Versinken - Schubert; Mayrhofer - Fischer-Dieskau/Moore

Wohin, o Helios? Wohin? In kühlen Fluten
Will ich den Flammenleib versenken,
Gewiß im Innern, neue Gluten
Der Erde Feuerreich zu schenken.

Ich nehme nicht, ich pflege nur zu geben;
Und wie verschwenderisch mein Leben,
Umhüllt mein Scheiden gold'ne Pracht,
Ich scheide herrlich, naht die Nacht.

Wie blaß der Mond, wie matt die Sterne!
Solang ich kräftig mich bewege;
Erst wenn ich auf die Berge meine Krone lege,
Gewinnen sie an Mut und Kraft in weiter Ferne.

More Zimerman, one of my fave recordings of the Emperor Concerto.
Yes, it's extremely 'showy', but in just the right way, like George Best or when we won the European Cup in '99. Pure brilliant joy!

Beethoven - 5th Piano Concerto 'Emperor' (Zimerman, Bernstein, Wiener Philharmoniker)

ETA: Just realised Pirate is a Bayern supporter. :wenger: So sorry to bring up '99.
Now you post something that encapsulates your feelings that fateful day? :lol:
