'The man don't give a fook!'

Two ~~controversial Horowitz recordings which many people loathe, but I adore. I love the no-holds-barred emotions and the absolute attack! attack! attack!

Liszt-Busoni-Horowitz - Mephisto Waltz No. 1 (Horowitz)

Horowitz plays Wagner-Liszt Isolde's Liebestod

Had to add this

Liszt-Horowitz - Hungarian Rhapsody No. 15 'Rakoczi march' (Horowitz)

Dvořák's pretty cool.

Again some Vivaldi. Finest part of the whole Four Seasons.

Just checked what I've been posting here, and it seems that I am mostly attracted to melodies in compositions. That's ok.

Had a similar experience to Mockney with this one driving on the way to Chester. I did actually start crying though, and I'm curious as to how Vaughan Williams wrote this.

That, to me, is the sound of spiritual euphoria. It's a feeling you can get on a very, very high dose of a psychedelic, or after years of meditation. I don't know how on earth he was so in touch with that feeling so as to be able to express it through music. 2:30 through to 3:50 is absolutely :houllier:.

We went to a Mozart concert in Vienna last year and I've been trying to find one of the pieces of music they did ever since, with no joy. It had a woman playing a small mouth instrument- doodle oodle ooh, doodle oodle ooh, doodle oodle oodle ooh, ded ded der ded ded der ded ded der ded ded der....Dunno if she was playing a piccolo. Louds of bowing and all that shit, as they do at these things. Excuse my bad phonetics @Waltraute

Been listening to some chamber music the past few nights. Switched to orchestrals tonight. Not bad for a first pick! Imagine seeing/hearing the ballet when it was launched

Nani Nana - so perfect!
Wonderful suggestions, holyland red! :)

Here's Hans Hotter singing Mondnacht (Schumann/Eichendorff); acc. Gerald Moore --

A good night to everyone!
We'll win tomorrow!

ETA --

Es war, als hätt der Himmel
Die Erde still geküßt,
Daß sie im Blütenschimmer
Von ihm nun träumen müßt.

Die Luft ging durch die Felder,
Die Ähren wogten sacht,
Es rauschten leis die Wälder,
So sternklar war die Nacht.

Und meine Seele spannte
Weit ihre Flügel aus,
Flog durch die stillen Lande,
Als flöge sie nach Haus.

I still come back to this song often 10 years later. Thanks @Waltraute! I just started studying again so this thread is very useful. As good as he is, I can't keep reloading Erik Satie.

I've been listening to loads of Handel.

Also I was hoping this thread was more than one or two people posting a new clip every now and then, several years ago.

On Stravinsky, I woke up yesterday to Radio3 playing The Firebird, at just before the Infernal dance. One of the few times I didn't just roll back to sleep. Missing Waltraute.
