The one thing you can say about him if having him always available and never injured would be a big boost to the squad.

If proper transfer funds went on midfield and Rashford/Hojlund paid for this guy, I wouldn’t be that disappointed.

There is a lot of be said for robust players in this era. No point signing someone “exciting” who only plays half the games.

I feel like Rogers is the player you essentially thought you were getting with Mount rather than a long term LW prospect.

I liked him when he was at West Brom and was disappointed when City got him. He has progressed well since then and become a more rounded player.

I like his eye for the spectacular and in his last couple of games he has produced individual skills that show creativity some modern players lack for me. Spontaneous and inventive.

Good player just not a priority position where we have good players already.

He’s been overplayed and has played almost every game the whole season.

I can understand if he’s maybe only giving 90% in a game if you play every game for 90 minutes, but he still seems very athletic at a young age too. 80m is a lot, so it’s probably not happening. But player-wise we need someone quality and stable like him for a long season. If he plays less and is rotated, he probably performs more. Also covers the front 3.

You never know if it will continue, but I also think it is very important for how he will develop. Bruno Fernandes at his age had just finished his first season after returning from Sporting. His ability to stay clear od injuries have been so important for his development. Mount, at 23, had just won the CL, I think, and was player of the year at Chelsea. Not developed since. Same for a player like Mo Salah. Or even Lewandowski, Ronaldo and Salah.

If Morgan Rogers can continue to take 4 000 min + every season he will develop alot. There is alot there to work with.

Fyi the starting eleven only needs one more midfield player...
Yes think this is an important point people missing regarding rebuild...we need numbers but only one guaranteed to start in midfield...regarding rogers though, people saying we need proper winger...hes very similar to cunha so makes no sense...i think cunhas comfortably the better player too

Well, the priority for us right now is improving the starting eleven, especially in midfield, where we need three players.

Villa have secured champions league, so Rogers is going to cost a bomb. Splashing out £80m plus for bench players is not what we should be doing right now, when the starting eleven needs work.

Not sure what you are going on about loans. In case you have not noticed, Sancho has been out on loan in the last two seasons. Malacia has been out on loan, Zirkzee was wanted on loan by Serie A clubs, but we wanted to keep him until the summer. Ugarte was wanted by Turkish clubs in January, but again, we chose to keep him due to lack of numbers in CM.
I’m stating that players like Sancho would rather go out on loan than fight for their place and back their ability to be a success at United, too many players recruited in last decade are simply football mercenaries or brittle mentally!

Didn't he just sign a new contract last year? I don't see how Aston Villa will sell him as they probably are not desperate for money after securing Champions League and won Europe League. Rogers is likely to stay due to his price tag is too high.

Yeah, the fans would revolt.

Yeah if those two paid for his transfer and like you say still got at least two quality midfielders I'm on board

Arsenal and. Chelsea need a presence on the left, let them have it out over him.

Please Chelsea, buy this guy he's absolutely worth 2 Gittens or 2 Garnachos. 100m is a bargain !
Arsenal can't compete with the Club World Cup of the Clubs Champions of the World of the USA.

Why don't you want to sign him then?

We need to recruit a top class LW, LF. Ndiaye would bring something else and would be cheaper, but no smoke there, Rogers is too similar to Cunha there. Although Rogers would be a good fit, high octane player who can score plenty of goals.

So the BBC who are about as gospel as it comes to transfer news have said that we’re not willing to overpay for Elliott Anderson at £100 million when we’re desperate for midfielders yet we’re apparently willing to overpay for Morgan Rogers at £80 million in a position we already have Cunha and Dorgu in ? I call bollocks on that report.

Where did BBC say that again?

He does.

He's pre-emptively saving face if he chooses Chelsea.
If Alonso is committed to the same system he had at Leverkusen, it would in theory suit Rogers nicely:

---------Joao Pedro--------
--Rogers-------Palmer---
LWB--Enzo-Caicedo--RWB
--Hato--Colwill--James/Chalobah/Fofana

They still need signings as I don't really think they have the right wingbacks though Neto and Cucarella are decent players and maybe they can do B+ versions of Frimpong's speed and Grimaldo's work coming inside, though it sorta feels like they both would need to be on the left side. Also maybe Enzo is gone and say Wharton or another signing is the Xhaka type passer with Caicedo a better version of Andrich as his partner breaking up play and flying around and defending.

But yeah, he could play a narrow left-sided attacking wing/10 kinda role and Palmer and Pedro would in theory be decent fits as a trio.

If you think £ 80 million for Rogers is overpaying, then I wonder how long it is since you followed football transfers.

You don't even need to look at transfers in the entire league to defend that fee or more. You can simply look at your own club's transfers the last 5-6 years.

We are not willing to overpay or drawn into a transfer battle over Anderson.

I’ve followed football transfers for over 35 years and £80 million for Rogers who plays in a position we have Bruno and Cunha already in and who are both better players so would mean he’d be a squad player is overpaying, Rogers is a good player but if we’re not willing to get drawn into overpaying or a transfer battle for Anderson when midfield is by far our biggest priority then we won’t be for Rogers which is why I called the article bollocks as we don’t have the money to spend £80 million on squad players.

We’re not giving you 100m. Hawk him elsewhere

I mean we didn't even pay that for Cunha or Mbeumo who are more established and better players.

No chance we'd throw around £80 million for Rogers.

...Jason Wilcox can do one. He's lucky to be associated with Manchester United. And he knows it.

He was the one who personally pushed for Zirkzee. Says it all.

The sooner he fecks off, the better.

It's made up.

It was reported at the time that Ashworth liked Zirkzee but there is a bunch of mouth breathers on social media who are pushing the anti-Wilcox narrative for clicks when we've gone from bottom half to top three on his watch so its ridiculous but welcome to 2026
