I know a lot of us in here don't rate him, but that's a helluva list of clubs who are interested...

I'm not a huge fan, same as Gordon who had a good bit of interest. The thing with Rogers is more the allocation of resources than him as a player. His most natural position is where Bruno plays and unless we are planning to sell Bruno or begin phasing him out of the team next season, it does make sense to spend so much on him. He can play off the left too but would feel a little bit of a waste and also a bit premature to be moving away from Cunha when there are bigger holes in the squad to address.

but what if him and Cunha are fighting for the same spot? we've nearly always got some quality in-form for that role (left outside cutting in)

I mean if we have the budget to sign the deeper CMs and a LB, then sure! Though I'm not sure we'll be in such a position.

Mount and Rashford plus money for Watkins and Rogers.

There's a chance Villa take it after Rashford did well there, and he'll be looking for a Champions League team if Barca don't want him.
This isn't that crazy sounding if you take out Watkins. Mount and Rashford are pretty clean fits for the wider #10 role Buendia/McGinn (Mount) and the pacey wing forward Bailey/Rashford himself and Malen have been earmarked for (Rashford). They both get CL football.

-------------------------------Sesko(Zirkzee/NewST)
Cunha/Rogers----Bruno/Rogers-----Mbeumo/Amad
-------------Mainoo(CM)-----------DM(Ederson)---------------

-Cunha and Rogers competing for one spot with the other probably the first option to come on as the LW, #10 or #9
-Amad getting bench minutes every game and starting some at RW. Mbeumo can always be the backup striker to get more time if Amad breaks out like we thought he would this past season
-Some cheaper striker who can finish a chance and be an aerial threat, we can play Mbeumo against higher lines and Cunha as a false 9 as alternatives so a big non-Maguire option against teams sitting deep or end of games basically.

If Gabriel is earmarked for a spot in that LW/10 area, we'd have:
-Bruno, 31
-Cunha, 27
-Rogers, 23
-Gabriel, 15

which looks like a nice clear long-term plan for those areas.

The negative would be that he's not a top class playmaker as a #10, and we might be able to find a more rapid LW like a Barcola. Basically same sort of thing that keeps Cunha from being a truly great fit except for certain bespoke formations.

I understand you guys want to get rid of deadwood, but the idea we'd take Mount or Rashford at his wage demands, is utterly laughable

C'mon.

Erm.. you bought Watkins and left him out of your squad ha

Amazes me anyone wants Rogers more than Rashford.

I couldn’t imaging anything more frustrating than Cunha and Rogers as our LW options.

I still love Marcus.

I would have also lost the will to live trying to play off Hojlund at the same time as my idiot manager asking me to play LWB

I think that too, similar to cunha on left and read insiders see him as bruno replacement...think cunha offers more in that role. I rate him but not for the price, not for what we already have and need. Good player but doesnt add anything for us

There’s just somet about Rogers I don’t rate. Without watching him regularly, he just seems to make poor decisions and can be a little frustrating. Lacks that consistent game changing ability. If United were after an attacking mid I’d probably lean towards Gibbs-White over Rogers.

Not sure how often he’ll feature in the WC too with Bellingham, Eze, Rashford and maybe even Gordon favoured. Will have to see

He's not a LW for me, at least not the type that is needed.

We need a Doku or Doue/Kava type. We have enough of the rest in the team right now.

Dorgu is starting to come along nicely and offers something Cunha doesn't, he also looks a bigger threat than Cunha for an entire 90 mins, Cunha sometimes goes quiet and does nothing for long periods. It's better to have Dorgu and Cunha offering two completely different skill sets, than Rogers and Cunha offering the same skillset.

I think Rogers had had a better season than Bellingham, and seemed to be favoured over him by Tuchel in some of the competitive games.

I think he's a quality player, and that's why he's got the interest in him. Obviously, there are issues the club needs to address - especially midfield and left back, but the current options in the final third aren't adequate to compete across the number of games.

We've been spoilt with Bruno hardly missing a game. Cunha has had the odd fitness issue. Mount is rarely fit. Rashford isn't coming back. We're an injury or two away from very limited options.

I'd take PL proven players if possible, wherever, other than the odd properly world class player.

Tuchel seems to really like him so he'll probably play quite a bit. Do agree on him having something about that just doesn't scream he's elite despite the good numbers.

Don't get me wrong he's a very good player and for 80m in a market where the bog standard winger is as much then he'll probably be a good buy for someone just don't think it'll be us.

Thats bad news for us, one less team that might buy Rashford.
Not if it meant Villa buy Rashford it’s not, Rogers going to Bayern means a PL rival not getting stronger whilst us getting Rashford off the books is perfect.

But it’s the cost really, it would be another probably 80m (not counting salary etc). We simply can’t buy everyone in the same window at that price

This is probably the strangest summer for the caf muppets i have ever been and seen. Of most the players we seen link, a lot are seen as not what we need or of required qualities one ways or another. Could not comprehend

I like that Rogers can drive up the pitch, as long as he would be allowed to, it could bring our attack to some kind of fluidity. I think he is better than Gordon, who I didnt want, but I wouldn't call him elite.

He doesnt have to be though if he is the catalyst to changing our anemic attack. We need to move the ball a heck of a lot quicker, and I see Rogers pretty well suited to help in that regard. Might be a good signing for us, depending on the fee. He is an 70-80 mil player in today's market imo, but I suspect it will be more.

I hope he goes to Bayern as I do rate him and I think he would transform Arsenal's attack.

Weirdly though, I don't think we should sign him as he's too similar to Cunha in the sense that he likes to drift around the pitch. If we were to sign a left winger, I would prefer a pacey trickster. I wish we snapped up Kvaratskhelia when he was at Napoli.

The market - especially buying from within the PL is absolutely inflated when Rogers is in the 70-80m category (& I agree with you that, that is what it will take as a minimum for Villa to sell). Rumors are WHU are trying to value Fernandes at £80m as well. Crazy stuff.

Interesting that Bayern increasingly seem to scout and buy in England over the recent years. You'd think they'd find better value for money elsewhere. Would Villa maybe give them a slight discount in order to not strengthen direct rivals? Kane surely would have cost more for any English rival when they bought him from Spurs.

Fernandes will get 80 as well.....maybe 90. These are not really elite players and seem to be still in the unsure category in terms of how much they will bring to their new clubs. I dont know how you make those transfer decisions nowadays.

I think Fernandes is actually the least risky in terms of that transfer fee.

Yeah those prices are absolutely insane especially when buying from other PL clubs.

You really believe Mateus Fernandes' transfer will reach £90m?

Can't see that being a situation.

We'd take anyone's money if the bid is good enough.

Indeed, and obviously there needs to be priorities. It's a tough one, because (in my view) he looks the part and would be a good investment, but arguably not to the detriment to other areas.

The issue is, the squad depth just isn't there.

At least one attacking player is required. We're very light, and the extra games add up. The risk is we're into teh market at a lower level and signing more Zirkzee's who we're lumbered with because they can't cut it in the PL.

Getting in teh CL is obviously a great achievement noting where we were, but a huge part of that was teh fact that we had less games than other teams. As such, we're at risk of missing out next year, if we don't recruit properly.

Big summer incoming and some big decisions to be taken. I think we're horribly short upfront and out wide.

We need to avoid him like a plague. From his style, he is more of a number 10. We already have Bruno for that role. If we use him in place of Cunha, then what happens to him, who is a better player. If we intend to use him as a competition for Cunha, then it also does not make sense, because you do not bring 80M bench options. On top of all that, a team must have variety in attack, they are both very similar players, we need a winger who hugs the touchline, with pace to burn and beat players on both outside and inside, both Cunha and MR, both tend to drift in all the time.

Overall, this is one signing, which seems absolutely unnecessary. I would rather keep the powder dry and use it on Hall and use Dorgu as a competition for Cunha.

Agree with that. But for 30m or less we should be able to find a striker and for the same a LW if we’re prepared to go outside the PL

Much prefer the Antonio Nusa type of lw to Morgan Rogers. He's much too similar to Cunha in style of play, we need a different type of attacker.

Would be happy if he ended up at Arsenal, him and Eze are basically the same player.

Good timing, that goal he scored for Denmark earlier was an absolute banger

That's my concern - such a hard league to come to. Last year, Mbuemo and Cunha came at a premium and you can see why.

If you go for real potential, clubs in Europe want a fortune anyway.
