Morocco need their own thread - suprise semifinalist last time, expectations much higher now

Made Brazil look like Sunday League for the first half hour but difficult to keep that up for 90mins in the heat plus Ancelotti made half time subs to neutralise

Bouaddi with a breakout performance - only 18yo!

Lacking a proper striker - lovely ball Diaz & finish from Saibari though
 
They're very good.

I wonder why Ouhnahi hasn't really done it at club level? Looks a class player for Morocco

Really thought he was going to kick on after the last World Cup. Good player with very strong technique even if he holds the ball a bit too much, but he’s not really made a mark in club football, quite surprisingly.
 
I think they genuinely have a strong midfield, defence and GK. It’s inn attack where they lack a bit but if they can get some momentum going they will get to the last 8. Very strong generation.

Bouaddi getting rightly hyped, but Aynaoui is also pretty good. Was their best midfielder during the AFCON and might catch a few eyes this tournament too.

He was immense, great to see it live. He had some sideways passes where he could have instead gone direct for a forward but man. What a performance.

Carlo is gonna work some magic for Brazil especially after this imo. The three at the back was so wrong that no way he does it again
 
Mamdani (an Arsenal fan, so may not have the best judgement) picked Morocco to win the tournament. They looked very good tonight.

Bouaddi is one to watch. Tall and athletic, he looks like a natural deep midfielder. Could get a big move this summer. Has that Fellaini/Zirkzee big hair vibe.

Saibari looks like a proper talent and one to keep an eye on with his rumored transfer to Bayern. Kane replacement ?

One of those players who steps up a level when he puts on the national shirt, Morocco have a few like that - with England players it's often the other way around

They conceded an own goal and a worldie. Still comfortably won the game after a frantic first half.

They're a good team if not as strong as 2022.

They certainly looked a good team against Brazil and have one of the best young players of the tournament. Be interesting to see how they do against Japan or the Netherlands (the quality of their opponent seems a bit unfair really)

True that but they did look a bit ropey without Bouaddi in midfield. Haiti had free run of the middle of the park at times in the second half but showed none of the quality from the first half in the end.
 
They will comfortably beat the Netherlands or Japan. They are top 5 FIFA ranking gor a reason.

Yeah, they won't comfortably beat us at all. They don't even comfortable beat Scotlan or Haiti. Much rather face them than Brazil who seem to be getting better with each match.

I think it will be an even match with us being slight favorites.

Whatever the outcome, Rotterdam and Amsterdam will probably be a complete mess after the game :lol:

Ye coach went for rotation with qualification already secured - possibly he underestimated Haiti too and he was nearly regretting it but they turned it around 2nd half
 
So any Moroccans or followers who can shed some light on who will be favorites? I feel we should be slight favorites, but with how open we are in transition, I'm not too sure.

Holland is a -175 favorite, sounds about right.

Netherlands favourites with the bookies at 5/4, Morocco 23/10

I think it should be closer than that so have stuck a few quid on Morocco - probably instantly jinxing them to failure

Feels a bit 50-50 to me. We have better players, but they seem more, I dunno, fighty or passionate as a team.
 
They actually tried to win the game today, gotta appreciate the bravery they came to this with

Didn't realise he was just 28. He's often injured and seems to want to retire early, so I often forget he's our player or at least don't consider him seriously for our future plans.
 
I got home from work to see the 75th minute onward. To me is seemed, Morocco was the "Dutch Team." I mean, possession, switching positions, and driving forward. I'm normally a Holland fan, but I immediately, well, after hearing from the commentators how many players are transnational, and seeing with my own eyes the result, became a supporter of the Moroccan Team.

Im assuming his retirements comments weren't serious - usually plays on the right for us but looks better on the left for Morocco, can't expect another injury free season from Shaw so we'll need him
 
Didn't manage to stay up for the match, looks like Morocco deserved to win from the highlights - several big saves from Verbruggen

On paper Canada looks like an easier game than this, but we shall see
 
They've a real chance of making the semi finals again, really good side.
 
That pen save by Bono was amazing and hilarious at the same time
 
Really is worth considering Maz against certain teams as a defensive LB. Don't expect much going forward, but he could keep certain strong players like Salah (not any more obvs) and Saka maybe... anyone with a very good inverted right-forward, he seems to cope comfortably when they come inside onto his strong foot. Play him as a #3 like Morocco do, he's doing a fine job this tourney.

Was one of the strangest penalty saves I can remember. He just seemed to walk to it.
