Nice attempt but a clear wind up.

Jose was shit. His sacking was the happiest moment of the season.

Mourinho would have got us through vs Barca, maybe in 2010. The man who was managing us a couple of months ago is a mere shadow of the Mourinho from the previous decade.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
He beat Juve away and kept a clean sheet against them.

He also finished 2nd - above Liverpool - with a squad that we've now decided is utterly awful and is the excuse that Ole can't be judged as a coach.

That said, he wouldn't have got us through against Barca.

When did we keep a clean sheet against Juve this season?

Anyway, funny thing is, ive been impressed with Oles tactics for most games.
We started of well against Barca and if we score coupled with not fckin up individually for their two goals, it would have been interesting.

His recent subs have been underwhelming though.

Ridiculous thread, Mourinho would not have gotten us to the point where we played Barca, and wouldnot be anywhere near challenging for 3rd/4th spot in the league.... everybody agrees we need 4-6 players in the summer to make us competitive with City/Pool yet they are surprised when we get turned over by Barca.... what a joke.

Have a little faith judge Ole on next year not the leaving of this one

I don't know why people actually think this is so absurd? Because he lost once against Sevilla? Stupid.

People seem to be talking about the PSG result like it was an immense performance. No, it was not. It was a lucky game, where Lukaku pretty much won it for us. We didn't create really any opportunities across the two games.

I don't think it is far fetched to say that we could have qualified against PSG regardless of the manager, considering the performance.

Could we have beaten Barcelona? Possibly. You cannot say either way because he was not manager when we played them.

All we know is that Solskjaer was manager and we went out with a whimper in the second leg.

In all likelyhood PSG would have beaten us if Mourinho was in charge so the question is moot.

You can't develop tactics to cope with Young and De Gea's mistakes, before the first goal we were by far the better side, then they settled and we lost confidence. The only thing you can attempt to fault Ole for is the players mental fragility, but considering not one of the players was signed by him it's hardly his fault.

No Mourinho had burned all bridges when he left. There was no coming back. And I suspect we would have been flattened by PSG

There is still 3rd 4rth to play for in the league that was way out of our reach when Ole started so let’s see....

Crap original post, a couple of throw away statements yet this seems to warrant a discussion. If you truly believe Jose would have got us through, but some effort into your thread ffs.

It's absolutely absurd because it's taking a two-legged tie view, without taking into account the bigger picture. The players were done playing for him. He was done since last summer, but Ed sent him out as a lame duck manager, and Jose, with his stupid rhetoric dug himself deeper and deeper with each passing week. Playing McTominay at the back to make a point, dropping Pogba to make a point.

We'd most likely be closer to the relegation zone than top 4 if Jose had stayed, let alone challenging for top 4 and making a CL 1/4 final.

We were picking up points at a level of 1.53 per game under Jose this year. Extrapolate that out until now, and you've got 50 points. 16 off top 4, 19 off relegation zone. So, not too far off. And bear in mind there really was a good likelihood things were going to be worse in the 2nd half of season than 1st, given that the players had given up .. that's why it's absolutely absurd.

Yeah the man who couldn't get past the mighty Sevilla would have beat Barca at their home for sure.
