Feel free to add, but I thought it would be useful to have a running list of events since Moyes has started, and that he has been faced with. You might not agree with all of them but for me I've broken them down into positive/not so positive sections, and they can of course change.

    Arguably Positive
    • Says Rooney not for sale and good relationship
    • £12m Baines bid (at this price I would suggest represents value)
    • Positive steps in making Giggs and Neville coaches (maintain the knowledge and experience of success)
    • Zaha will get chances (looks like a player that could make a difference, makes sense to use him)
    Arguably Not so Positive
    • René Meulensteen not convinced to stay on after so much positive talk about him from players over the last couple of years.
    • Eric Steele not convinced to stay on after so much positive talk around De Gea and learning Spanish. Possibly upsetting the apple cart in an unnecessary way.
    • No conversation to be had over renewing Rooney's contract, adding risk to us losing him at a stupidly low value, similar to what happened with Berbatov.
    • Failure to convince Scholes to be a coach straight away. Completely fair point that Scholes wanted a break and knowing Scholes no one would have changed his mind. So it goes on this list, but not a biggy.
    • Statement of unlimited budget (great to give the fans something to be excited about, but bound to slow negotiations for players if the other club feels we have plenty of funds to pay more!)
    • Singha All-Stars 1 - 0 Manchester United. May just be a pre-season friendly and the first of them and may have been with a lot of younger players, but this was Moyes first game in charge and as such it would have been nice to get a win and show a statement of intent. Instead we went out with a whimper and just a couple of players showing glimpses of potential. However, potential is often not enough when what we really want is quality ready to get first team starts (see point below!).
    • ThiagOFF! Yes there may be the Pep factor, but there are always factors and you have to convince someone why they should sign for you and no one else. Thiago looks far more ready for our first team than any of our young midfielders.
For new people reading this thread
This is not supposed to be a critical assessment or a reason to beat Moyes with a stick, it's supposed to be a general view of how things are going week to week with this being an ongoing thread, not a point in time thread.

By all means debate what is positive and what is not, for example new coaches could be a good or bad thing depending on how you view it.

I guess you could call this a thread of, here is something that has happened and here is how I would have done it differently or how I think things could have better panned out. Sometimes it will be speculation and sometimes hard facts, thus please take it in context of what is mentioned.

    Positive.
    • Adnan Januzaj, the kid has buckets of potential, and more than that he was showing it vs Singha. I wouldn't be surprised if he made a few appearances under Moyes. Can see him become popular with Moyes if he gets his chance.

Wow lots of intellectual responses here. Moyes is our first new manager in 26 years. Is it really such a big deal to look at the detail of his contribution as he progresses as manager here. Ferguson survived risks of being sacked in the early years because of a lot of great work behind the scenes so why not look at Moyes the same way. At least that way if it came to poor results we could look at the wider picture of what he is trying to achieve.

Maybe if you had put together an intellectual thread then you would have got intellectual responses.

In fact, I'd say the responses you've had have been far more intellectual than the OP.

When you list failing to keep staff, that he most probably wanted to get rid of in order to stamp his mark on the club amongst the "non positive" attributes, you're off to a controversial start. Then we move onto the loss in the friendly where you moan about the young players that Moyes didn't sign, or develop. And the Thiago thing, which has all been based on speculation and we may never have even been interested.

    Not a great start.

Points taken on board, maybe an element of controversy in here, but I'm only relaying what others have said in various threads. As the headings say "arguably". I said this for a reason as you can argue either way, some may argue the coaches Moyes has taken from Everton are better for example. I never said anything along the lines of "my opinion" or "this is fact".

By all means argue however you want, even argue that points shouldn't be raised at all, but calling me a "retard" and "lacking IQ" is frankly more of a self reflective attack that has no weight!

If you want to get down to intellect by all means write down your results in education, or the salary you earn, or your key achievements and by all means you can all have an educational dick measuring contest, but I'll leave you to that.

While I don't quite agree with the points listed in the OP and also the the timing of your analysis, I will support you one thing. People here have become trolls, have started treating this forum as their best friend's facebook page.
If one does not agree with your points, just discuss it or give yours. If you don't think the thread has any point, stay out of it. There are many other threads, go post there.
People just come, laugh and say stupid and sarcastic things. It's a forum with tens of thousands of members, even if you don't like a thread, there is a good chance atleast 10 might, don't spoil it for them.

Good post. Some people here seem like they were bullied and mocked when they were kids, hence they resort to an online forum to seek revenge or feel good about themselves. Just safer here isn't it?

This forum starts to look like a communist event. Stand straight in line otherwise you are out. I have always thought that Redcafe is the best footboll forum around, open minded, sometimes intellectual and full of different views. But something has happened. I don't want to hang out posters but some of the comments in this topic is embarrassing. If you don't see this then you are blind.

Nobody want's Moyes out. It's a stupid suggestion. But after 20 years of more or less stability we have a new manager, this create questions. I always knew that the day Sir Alex stepped back would be painful. It's part of the drama being a new manager for United to receive critical questions, that people will compare and that we will see problem arising. Every one of us was ready for this so why is it such a surprise?

David Moyes has an extreme mountain to climb. He knows it and we understands his situation and that he will make mistakes, some small and maybe some bigger ones. It is forbidden to have views and discuss this? Is it forbidden to be critical of the obvious? Are we so afraid of failure that we don't see the elephants in the room even if we run in to them?

I think everybody in this forum want's Moyes to succeed. It's sad that there is no room to discuss his pros and cons, even if it is only two weeks since he started.

yeah...I agree, the trolling, usually from guys on here who seem to consider themselves to have some sort of superior status on the forum, has got worse. I've said some really daft things on here..usually on the spur of the moment, which I don't excuse, but certainly doesn't warrant the sort of insults that just wouldn't be so forthcoming face to face.

It's perfectly fine to discuss his pros and cons. But when one of the cons is basically "Failed to convince man who wanted to spend more time with his family to not do that", it's a bit pointless. Add that to the fact he's only been in the job two weeks.
