USA beat Belgium and we sneak past Mexico

Wouldn't write the Germans off. England can, if they show up, beat Mexico but that's not an easy game. USA/Belgium is a pick 'em (home advantage, a very functional US side, and usually US teams have good mentality in tournaments which translates on to the pitch)

Wouldn't surprise me to see Germany beat France (despite the results so far).

My pick from the start was Brazil as I think Ancelloti+Brazil in a tournament should not be taken lightly.

I think the USA might actually beat Belgium if that’s the draw. Belgium are really flat from what I’ve seen.

Mexico vs England depends on how much of a factor home advantage is and the whole stadium altitude thing. Will Mexico sit back and defend in a low block?

Honestly can’t see beyond France or Argentina winning it. I’m hoping we see some major upsets as that always keeps things interesting. but so far we haven’t had a proper shocking result.

I’d love for Morocco to be the first African nation to lift the trophy but it may be a stretch too far for them.

England gets to the QF vs. Brazil. They have enough quality and Tuchel’s pragmatic approach will be good in the knockouts.

If Nagelsmann sticks with Kimmich at right back, I won't be surprised we will go out against Paraguay.

Kimmich and Pavlovic with Goretzka add backup played a strong season with Bayern. No idea why Nagelsmann thinks Kimmich is better at right back (which he clearly isn't) and Nmecha and Pavlovic, who never played together before, can dominate midfield.
This worked against Curacao but that's it.

Also not sure whether Holland will beat Morocco. Brazil vs Japan will be interesting too. I have the feeling Brazil suits the Japanese as they are more technical than physical strength.

Yep think USA will beat Belgium. Also Mexico to knock England out.

Good calls; both of those I considered, and hopefully we get through.

We just can’t underestimate playing at the Azteca, at altitude, against the home team. Particularly given how little rest we have had compared to Mexico. I think it will be super tough, but hopefully they attack us like Croatia did, and it plays to our strengths.

The way I see it too. Of course there will be a surprise or two in there. Ivory Coast for starters...England maybe? Not sure how much of a surprise that would be though.

Argentina have an easy run until the quarters....and even then it still isn't the most testing half of the draw after that.

France's run would likely include Sweden, Germany, Holland & Spain. Pretty easy to slip up there.

Mexico might not even be there. Ecuador are a better team, and are just as used to playing at high altitude. It really depends how much home advantage helps Mexico. Ecuador would also probably be an even worse opponent for England, because they can defend very solidly if required.

I'm a bit amazed that people are writing Belgium off against the USA. Has the USA ever won against Belgium in recent history? They beat USA 2-5 in a friendly that was not even 4 months ago

Mexico’s record at the Azteca is insane, plus the humidity etc = I think they’ll beat England.

my guess for QF:
France v Netherlands
Spain v USA
Mexico v Brazil
Argentina
v Colombia

bolded are the SF teams
hard to guess thereafter

They haven't looked particularly good, though.
Home advantage will be huge but they won't be able to do what Ghana did.
I think it could be a high scoring game.

I think USA are more likely to beat Belgium than Mexico are to beat England. As underwhelming as England have been, Belgium have been worse, imo. And England will look better against a team playing attacking football, which presumably Mexico will do. Agree with pretty much all your other predictions though.

I think it’s the home advantage and the morale aspect than anything else that I think will play in the USA’s favour. Belgium look like a team that know their time is up as a serious powerhouse (that is probably as true 4 years ago as it is now)

From the QF’s, not so sure. Colombia could beat Argentina. Morocco vs France is going to be a very good game.

We've never lost to Brazil, and we won't do it now either.

Who is we? Norway? The issue is i dont think there were many games between you, so if you havent lost in 3 games, that doesnt mean much.

Pft!

Well England are winning the whole tournament so I reckon that's a little off. Otherwise maybe

Think we beat Mexico and Switzerland scrape past Colombia

People on here seem very very sure that the USA is going to brush past Bosnia. They've been mediocre, but they did knock Italy out of the qualifiers and they can just play underdog.

Also, Mexico could very easily lose to Ecuador, who were pretty impressive against Germany, and who are used to playing at altitude.

As for Belgium, if we somehow manage to make it past Senegal, I'm pretty confident we beat whoever comes out of the US/Bosnia game. After that, it's over for us, bar an incredible off day for Spain/Portugal.

We'd do well to get past Paraguay, nevermind France

England shouldn't be scared of Mexico. They aren't good at all.
They'll play in Mexico City at a higher altitude and heat. England have been lucky so far with the temperatures and i think that could cost them vs Mexico or maybe Ecuador

To answer the initial post I think Norway will get through

If Ecuador have a good day and play like against Germany, they have a good chance of going through. The Azteca wont worry them, as they play in Quito in high altitude as well. I am surprised how many dismiss Ecuador, they had a good world cup actually so far, while Mexico had no opposition.

I could easily see Mexico going out vs Ecuador. Also fancy Norway against Côte d'Ivoire, just not sure if they made a mistake resting the whole team against France. Confidence might have taken a hit still.
If these are the draws, can see us (Switzerland) in the quarter finals.
