Sounds like OP's love for Mourinho was never lost in the first place so nothing new here. Maybe they had a bit of a tiff for a while.
Way to neutralise the rare positivity on the Caf. Kudos ;)

There are 2 versions of Jose. The winner at all costs, zero fecks given version we saw last night. Or the despondent and defeatest we had in the summer. I know who I want if he's at the helm.

Regardless of how we are starting games (which needs to improve esp against the lower teams), recently hes been making the changes to affect and turn games. And its been mostly his subs getting the important goals / assist or contribution.

Ideally we need to find that balance where we put away smaller teams, and for the bigger teams, thats where we adapt and tactically try and outdo them.

The one thing is, this season, hes seemed less bitter (after the whole summer transfer debacle) and most of his press conferences have been decent to watch, since maybe the newcastle game, its been better to watch (Gonna include Spurs game despite the 3 nil loss)

The one thing is that hes taken out / dropped some of the under performers (eventually) in Lukaku, Valencia, etc. I still would like to see Fred come in for Matic (heck, Fellaini in for Matic wouldnt be the worst thing either).

I used to like him before he came to United... always had a feeling that he wasnt suited for the club but wanted him because of the post fergie mess anyway. Now i know hes definitely not suited to the club, cant stand the football he plays, and even for 80 minutes yesterday was awful and if we didnt get a goal it wouldve deserved loads of criticism. Does a bit of a flukey 10 minutes change that? Probably not. Hes relieved the pressure off of himself, showed he has the support of his players though which is big. Also it is nice to see a cocky and shit stirring Mourinho. I always liked that from him.

Nobody likes it when hes pouty, depressed, blaming his own players, constant excuses, etc.. Go back a month and a bit and he basically said "See, this is why I dont play Martial and Rashford". Now he beats Juve away with those 2. I dunno where I stand with him, the motivated, cocky and confident Mourinho that we see on occasions is great entertainment and I'm sure rubs off well on the players. But I still dont want his football to be the way forward at United. So theres not much he can do to make me think hes the right guy long term. What he can do is make his time here less miserable at least, so hopefully we carry on with that, achieve a decent finish and then part ways normally in the end.

He is a complex character, but your two José's are manifestations of the same person.

He is all about winning and when he knows things are going to prevent that he is honest enough to make his feelings know.

His defeatist behaviour is primarily about managing expectations. Bless him....

Good observation. This is exactly what he is like in my opinion. Winning is the most important thing, no one really cares about anything else.

City will be a step up for me....a massive step up simply because of how they come wave after wave and if anything with each goal scored they push harder. In the period after we went 1-0 down thats the time we were poor and that's the time City would really punish our back line. Matic won't keep with the runners I'd be looking at Herrera and Matic as 2 DMs with Pogba ahead at least until the second half.
Yeah, agreed, makes sense. Anything to disrupt them. I think Herrera should definitely start as he can do a job on either of the Silva’s.

Not really sold on his vision. Not sold on where we would have been had Woodward caved to all his wishes and not sold on his winning style. Still a great manager but i prefer he be great at another club

Bored of toing and froing. Time for real progression. Personally won't be happy if all we see if us improve throughout this season, because that's shite.

We're a fickle bunch, that's for sure.

As far as I'm concerned, as long as the players and manager keep showing the desire, it's much easier to accept their failings. From the manager down, the atmosphere around the club has been much more positive recently. I can get on board with that.

He'll never get us playing the football we want to play so regardless of whether I love or loathe the man, I don't want him here.

Doesn't matter if you love him or hate him. His football isn't the football that fits with what we want to see from a United team. We have become almost a moments team. Or a one half team.
My hope is that he wins every game possible and then part ways in the summer.

I thought this too until a few weeks back, there has certainly been a big change in how we're approaching games now and he's likely trying to work with his other coaches to tweak it and find a balance that works. The idea he'd be trying Sanchez up top seemed unimaginable at the start of this season.
Who knows what the three of them can manage over the course of the season, it's already night and day in just a few weeks.

The old Jose is on the way back, his reaction after the Newcastle game, his anger after the Chelsea incident and now his reaction to the Juve fans :) after last nights game. He is not quite back but he is getting there and shows how much he loves United.

Keep it going Jose.

If he can beat that other Manchester team in their own back yard the Love can turn into a full blown relationship.
shows how much he loves himself.

The longer he stays the more damage in the long run.

Absolutely agreed the recent selections of Sanchez has improved the quality of our attacks and he's done a very good job holding the ball and linking the play. I expect that understanding to get better with more games.
But I haven't seen enough yet to suggest our style or approach is different. We're more effective but the style is still the same. To contain and nullify first and then attack second.

Never had any. So it's not returning or coming into existence. As long as he's United manager he has a chance to prove that he's the right man for the job. My stance on the manager is always subject to change based on peformances. But right now it hasn't.

He's said it himself we're approaching games more offensively this season and while it's not particularly great that he doesn't know why we start games slow he certainly isn't setting the teams up to do it either. Seems like you've made your mind up and nothing will change it which is very short sighted because if he does win every game possible there's a good chance we'll win the league and it would be mental to sack him after that (obviously we're not winning the league)

The season is long, things have definitely taken a turn for the better (regardless of what happens Sunday) so lets wait and see now

I got a kick of winning last night's game but looking at the overall picture - I feel no love returning, just impatience until he finally leaves.

Whoever I bet on
I thought and still do that he is the best manager in the world.

Yes, Pep has been pissing all over the league, but could he do it without a nearly perfect squad? See his first season for an answer.

Klopp's Liverpool are actually playing worse than last season and are slowly but surely starting to be found on. He is very entertaining and a likeable bloke but hos record does not compare to Mourinho's in any way.

I did think the relationship between him and the squad was past the point of no return, but it seems that it is not the case after all...

Relationships are two way streets, and he probably wouldn’t want to slum it with someone who goes back and forth depending on whether or not he’s good enough for them.

This picture is epic.

He seems to have stumbled on the best formation with Lukaku's injury. Sanchez brings so much more movement to us playing up front and we look a million times better. Some of our close one touch stuff around the box last night was great. Didn't always come off, but you could see what we were trying to do.
Really hope he doesn't revert back to lumping it up to Lukaku when he's fit again, we should stick with this now for the forseeable future.

Longer term we should be looking at a midfield/attack of:

Martial, Sanchez, Rashford
Pogba, Herrera, Pereira

We've got semi decent back ups in Mata and Lingard, but a specialist right winger (I think we should have bought Mahrez in the summer) would help massively.
Jose dropped Lukaku before he got injured.

Looks like Mourinho has got his mojo back. Hope he can keep getting the team playing like they are until Christmas and then bring a couple of top players in. I am a little scared that if we get beat on Sunday things might change back for the worst again. But we all expect this now.

At his best he’s brilliant. Unfortunately that’s not really the Mourinho we’ve seen since he came here. Long way to go before I consider him back to his old self but some positive signs.

feck that. Manages an incredible win against the odds, then for some reason decides to be a cnut at the end. I’ve grown to expect his childish shite when we lose, pack it in when we win you tool

If the players still believe in him, he can stay as far as I'm concerned.

Only those privy to the dressing room will know for certain. But from the outside, it looks like they do at the moment.

I was sure that Jose was finished at United only a few weeks ago, but this squad (with its growing confidence) is capable of a lot more under a proven tactical genius.

Jose Mourinho with a bit of fire in his belly is still a winner.

Well it never left to start with.

Even if at one point decide that his time here is up and he should leave for the sake of the club, I'll still love him as a manager as long as he's away from facing us.

The style is fine, the problem is he hasn't gotten it to work fully. Hence it has been a lot of terrible football. If the style is the same but we're being more effective and its winning us games, it means the style works. Im not convinced he'll turn our season around or anything, but I know for sure I've seen Mourinho teams play a lot better than what he has managed with us so far. We never even counter-attack which I think is weird, if we could do that effectively then I would have less of a problem with giving the ball up and defending with a lot of bodies. If we could combine all the things we're trying to do, with the things we seemingly have given up on then we could be a real force. He needs to sort his signings out too.

Mostly indifferent to Mourinho, except that I love his bits of humour at times and that we want the same things for this club, so he is cool with me. Win against City and Liverpool in the league both legs, and win us the CL this season and then i'll love him!

Yep; want him proper motivated, don't care what the motivation is.

He is at his best when he backs himself into a corner and creates an us vs. the world mentality

It's the case of if he was at any other club (and when he has been) and we all sit there and think 'what a massive twat' he is but he seemed to have lost it a bit here and now it's coming back. The swagger and the nigglies and the general dickishness, he's been emboldened of late and we've responded on the pitch.

Dickhead Mourinho is by far the best Mourinho and we definitely need more dickheads in this side. Herrera is one but aside from that only really RVP in the last decade or so.
