Myles Lewis-Skelly

Good player. But I think arsenal have a plan for him. They tied him down and bought in the same period, they see him as an option for midfield too if I'm not mistaken.

Looked class to me when I watched him, winning a title in a couple of years with 2 hale end boys at the back would be quite funny.

Haven't Arsenal always seen him as a midfielder in the future?

Hes went from being outstanding vs Real Madrid to being 3rd choice left back

It happens looked at Tuanzebe and Fosu Mensha. Lewis-Skelly looked decent to me but their could be a good reason behind his lack of game time.

I doubt there's much in this.

Would be funny if we somehow benefitted from Arsenal's 4 centreback terrorism, though.

I don't see him playing as a LB long term, same way I doubt O'Reilly will continue at LB for City.

Besides we already have two LBs who look more comfortable playing elsewhere.

The kind of link that’s too random and ambitious for there to not be a genuine interest. Graeme Bailey also linked us alongside an ITK back in Feb.

Besides that, I’d 100% try at least. Improves our physicality, brings versatility and depth in both LB and CM (removing the need for a 3rd midfielder this summer) and is technically sound. Has some to work to do with positioning at LB but is still really young and was quality last year. He’s not getting back in that Arsenal team anytime soon from the looks of things and if he’s thinking about moving on we should be front of the queue as long as the price isn’t insane.

I posted this in his other thread. I know he's still young but his stats are rancid; suggests he's a very limited player. Can tackle and move forwards with the ball a few metres. Seems about it. Not sure he really would add enough.

No thanks. He looks technically gifted, but we need more proven quality.

If we are going for inexperienced youth, might as well save the money and give Amass a chance.

You hope he might do a Bale and magically unlock some amazing ability once he's not played at LB.

I’d much rather Lewis Hall but Lewis-Skelly wouldn’t be a bad shout as he’s brilliant on the ball and has lots of potential to improve into a great player.

I'm all for signing him if the price is reasonable e.g. £35-40m and under. He's got some very interesting attributes, is athletic and allows teams to progress the ball in a different way. Would be very complimentary to Shaw if we need a different option for certain games at LB and can also play in midfield.

Not a fan of boosting the transfer funds of a rival by signing a player they have clearly identified as not good enough. In the case of Lewis-Skelly he is not really a left back nor is he a midfielder so in the end he will most likely wind up as a utility squad player somewhere, preferably at chelsea on a bonkers 12 year contract to protect his value. I would far rather we get the best pure left back we can afford and not try to outsmart ourselves.

On the flip side, think of the Arsenal fan meltdown if we pull this off. Arteta already gets a bunch of flak for not providing opportunities to youth players. They have basically doubled up in every single position with senior players who are quite young / at their peak so it's hard to see how guys like MLS, Nwaneri etc. break through.

I feel the same way. If we're going to sign a LB, it should be a specialist. Lewis Hall would be ideal if we can get him off Newcastle but I'm not sure they'd be open to selling him

LB for City isn't really LB though. For Arsenal and us, it really means LB.

I like Hall, he'd be a much better target for LB and I agree I'd rather sign a specialist there than MLS.

Wouldn’t be opposed. Would be a little worried about the over emphasis on ball carrying and progression over ability to pass the ball though

He's played more of an inverted full back stepping into midfield.

I want a full back who can overlap and deliver output in the attacking third.

Remember Arsenal would sign man city cast offs thinking it would improve them? Let’s not do the same

The few times I’ve watched him this season he’s been awful. But nothing suggests that can’t be improved upon.

I said a few mouths ago I thought Arsenal would struggle to hold onto him and Nwaneri. Lewis -Skelly has a good way to go but he’s only 19 and has huge potential, definitely someone we should be interested in for a reasonable fee.

There is difference between what Arsenal did and signing players like Heaven, MLS who are very young.

The only player other than Max Dowman i'd want from Arsenal is Ethan Nwaneri, doing fairly well at Marseille too. I think he could be class in the right right team, don't think he will develop much at the Gunners.

Was the other way around - Arsenal got pillaged and City won their first league title.

I think the reference here is them signing Zinchenko and Jesus and bringing Sterling in on loan.

Ah yeah, Man City reparations. That’s classic Arsenal, like when they signed Silvestre.

We’re talking about getting a very highly rated youngster, nothing like Zinchenko, Jesus or Sterling.
