Myles Lewis-Skelly

It will be him, Youri,Mainoo,Mount, 4 of them competing for one place(no-8), isnt it too much?

I think we need a proper no-6 to help Andres

If we were bringing MLS in as a defensive midfielder then 100% yes but it it’s as a rotational option or back up at left back then I’d rather use the money on Hall, ideal world we’d bring both MLS and Hall in as they’ve got massive potential but lots of PL experience and Ineos love players with sell on value.

There's no way Arsenal let him leave. This is a complete non starter.

Mind you I am judging this on Talksport which lets face it isn't exactly reliable on transfer information. Will be interesting to see IF his name crops up on the TOTD podcast or Transfer Dealsheet

They are about to sign Guimares for 80 million and that pushes Lewis-Skelly down the order somewhat. They may be willing to sell depending on the offer and the players wishes.

Admittedley it is super unlikely but there is a slight chance.

Not if Arteta sees MLS as a 6. Guimaraes will compete with Odegaard and Rice for one of the 8s.

Based on how Arteta used MLS last season, he is competing with Zubimendi for the #6 spot. Eze to compete/rotate with Odegaard, and Bruno with Rice if he joins. That would be my guess.

You don't expect Rice to line up with Bruno G?
He may. Depends on the opponent if Arteta thinks he needs more physicality in midfield. There are so many games to play this season and fatigue issue for players with little rest due to World Cup.

I completely agree. Also think there may be some games where you potentially use both Bruno and Rice as 8s, City away for example but Rice is definitely not a 6.

Do any Arsenal fans actually think they would sell and is there any truth to him and Ayden's families close?

Not really sure why Rice isn't a 6. He's played most his career as a 6, and said last year he prefers playing as a 6.

And when we got consistency at the end of the season, it was when he was a 6 and MLS played with him.

Maybe he isn't a tempo setting press resistent 6, but he doesn't need to be. That's why we'd have Odegaard and Bruno G next to him to come deep to get the ball too.

Im not his biggest fan but I can see him pushing for a move.

Bruno G kills any chance of him playing in midfield.

Hes their third choice left back, and assuming Rice x Bruno G is the midfield, he’s third or fourth choice CM depending on Zubimendi.

From a PSR perspective he’s be a great player to sell for them.

Would they actually sell to us though?

Any credible source on this? Wouldn't be against it for a low fee.

hed be a great signing because he's what he'd complement our midfielders and he's still very young meaning he wouldnt demand a starting position right away nad wouldnt block completely Santos, Tielemans, Mainoo.

Imagine we signed Bruno G or Tchouameni, the money and seniority would mean that 3 out of Santos, Tielemans, Mainoo, Mount would be benched. Which would kill a lot of momentum for some of the players. This way he could be bedded in and ahve a occasional start as a LB.

I wouldn't say complete non starter

He's 19 and earmarked for the future of their midfield, Guimares is 29 before the turn of the year, Norgaard has been sold and Zubimendi was underwhelming last season.

They will just make him wait a year or two while giving him enough appearances to keep him happy and then he can start to take over when Zubi and Rice are 29 and Guimares is 31.

You don't sell your future stars while you're at the top of the game. If they were struggling I could see it but he's going to be a lot more patient while they're winning the league and Challenging for the Champions league.

You are probably right to be fair

Some teams do sell their young players. For example Chelsea sold Hall, City sold Palmer and Newcastle sold Anderson, we sold Garner and Garnacho. It depends entirely on their business model and what they're trying to accomplish. If selling MLS and signing a player or two like Bruno instead means they win the champions league its job done. They cant sell all of their youth because you need some emerging players, but 1 player? Many clubs do.

Edit - Chelsea with Andrey Santos is another one

Yeah hopefully. I certainly wouldn’t mind either, have a preference for Hall as a LB but MLS’s ability to play in midfield as well would be a real bonus.
Wish we could sign both but leaves us short of athleticism which we are lacking in that midfield area

Can I just remind you all that England tried this midfielder as LB thing in the WC, encouraged to push into CM, young athletic footballer, and it had zero value in an attacking sense and even less in a defensive sense.

And with a much better performing fill-in leftback

Also at 35.98 km/h he recorded the fastest speed at City unlike Lewis-Skelly and I'd also argue that for City the best thing he does is underlapping runs beyond some attackers so that he can pull the ball back or finish himself. He got 5 assists playing leftback. He didnt got them from wide. So he might have been asked to do that for England, but for City he was just as often playing a normal leftback role but making more underlapping runs than overlapping ones with the winger sticking wide.

So differences

1) Pace of a winger
2) Making good runs down the wing, or at least inside - still wide
3) Good crossing and pullbacks after being picked out by teammates making those underlapping runs down the sides and good finishing with left foot and head also getting 5 goals as well as those 5 assists

I think TalkSport are doing guesswork saying he’d be an alternative to Hall. I think if the club are genuinely interested in MLS it will be as a midfielder, and maybe, if they can’t get Hall, he could fill in at LB if/when Shaw is unavailable.

I’d pay good money for him, think his ceiling is very high and he adds both some of the physicality and the technical ability that iur midfield needs. Tchouameni is the only midfielder I’ve seen us linked to recently that I would prefer. I would also think the fact that it seemed like his team offered him to us a few months ago could mean that we may already have the buy-in on his end, unless those matches that Arsenal gave him at the backend of the season convinced him to stay.

He'll be a great options in teams that are already set on a structure and have a core strong 11. We don't have dynamism at Left back and feel Hall is defineitly the first option.

Also I don't understand why would Arsenal sell him for not close to what we will anyways pay for Hall. For 60-65m I think this will not be an appropriate signing.

Arsenal would only sell him because they dont plan on using him. They do have 2 other leftbacks that played a lot more in the league, but he did play a bunch of champions league games. Still thats 3rd choice by number of games. Then in midfield they have loads of players and are adding another player for a big fee. So if they can get 50% of that money back selling their 6th choice midfielder and 3rd choice leftback it could be a great deal for them. The only way it wouldnt be is 1) hes a youth product and its nice to have some of those make the first team and 2) if they planned to actually play him as at least 2nd choice leftback and at least first option off the bench in midfield (4th). Right now he's neither of those, but maybe Arsenal could get rid of a leftback or a midfielder thats in front of Skelly and he could then become that player.

They’re never selling him really. The kid literally just started a CL final and has over 80 appearances for them already. This is just speculation based on Bruno G joining them but they fail to account for Bruno G being almost a decade older than him as well. Having a 19 year old of that quality who can continue to grow and be ready to take over when eventually Bruno G starts regressing is exactly what you’d want.

Plus on top of that they’ve already sold Norgaard to Everton as well which would leave them well short even if they were to sell him. No chance of this happening.
