This guy will tear apart in the EPL. His close control and dribbling is so damn good and will be the best in EPL if he makes the switch. To me he is the perfect third midfield partner for Pogba and Matic/Herrera. The guy is a beast defensively and can be a hell of a CM ( also think CM will be his best suited position in the long term ).

Matic/Herrera
Fekir/Pereira Pogba/Fellaini

Note : Scot will be allowed to leave on loan ( my intuition says so ) and pereira will take his place in the team ( if he wants to stay here ).
That's what I'd like to see, too. He has that Iniesta/Isco/D.Silva close control and strength where you just can't get the ball off him the majority of the time.
How deep did he play? as a CM or CAM? I watched some of his compilations and in fact he reminds me M. Dembele with his dribbling and ball covering, with a bit of Sanchez in him too. Probably too good attackingly to be playing deeper but 4 tackles won is not a bad record for predominantly an attacking player
He played how you'd see Pogba play for us really except better, imo. Well, defensively better - Pogba's the better playmaker. In defence, he was deep with the rest of the team where, because he's very strong with the ball and is a good reader of the game, he provided excellent cover, and when they had the ball he'd be the one to build their play up and then eventually move his way into the box.

He's definitely like M.Dembele in that it's very difficult to get the ball off of him, yes. Same with Alexis in that they're in the mould of hard working forwards with excellent techincal ability - like Tevez and prime Rooney who were probably my favourite strike partnership ever because of this.

As for the 4 tackles bit, he regularly wins the ball back which is why I liken him to Tevez (at least the Tevez of United). He's very hard to dribble past because he is so strong, will press opponents a lot, is a good reader of onrushing runs from the oppositions deep players which is why Lyon can get away with playing 2 in midfield in the early season (along with Ndombele being a promising box to box player who covers a lot of ground) because he tracks them incredibly well.

Yeah but @JPRouve is bang on with full backs. A bit like having a car with flat wheels. You are not going to give your engine much of a show if your tires are flat. My point being (it’s early in the morning) the midfield need the full backs bombing forward nowadays as most teams flood the midfield space to give themselves space and also have the option of passing. We currently have neither and it allows teams to condense certain areas that we look to attack in. Mostly midfield and left wing as teams know Valencia won’t do much damage going forward and Mata has to keep cutting back.
But my point is exactly the same 'the system'. People talk about what full backs could do but that's completely different to what's being asked of them. Thursday proved this as the change of they system allowed Tony and Shaw to get forward and Shaw was unlucky not to score. Yes you could argue par DDG, there's an upgrade for all the players in world football but they aren't the problem. We can't win the league when there is literally only one player that consistently scores.

Fekir or Erikson? I prefer Erikson just because he's proven in the league but can't complain if we get any of the two.

Eriksen for me, but he would cost almost double and is two years older

It depends on what you want, a facilitator(Eriksen) or a spark(Fékir). The one thing that could put Eriksen above is that his level doesn't drop against top opposition, Fékir hasn't been tested enough in that department.

Well I mean, Aulas will ream us but it'll be a pittance compared to what Levy would charge us for one of their players, let alone Eriksen.

Wouldn't say double, Fekir isn't exactly cheap valued at £60m

Wouldn't 100m cut it?

What makes you think Eriksen is available? He's Spurs best player probably, they wouldn't sell their best player to us..

I don't think he's available, I was responding to a comment above when someone asked whether we'd rather have him or Fekir.

Very good player but not what we need.
I'll have to disagree with that.We lost a playmaker in Mkh, we have no 10 spot vacant in the squad, he could be an upgrade to Lingard and Mata and Pierera and can play multiple roles on the rw, as an 8 in attacking 433 and a no 10 in 4231. We are not in a position to say that we don't need him if we want to improve on multiple fronts next season in attack and creativity and efficiency in the final third. We not only need more points to catch man city but also more creativity , more attacking intent and ability to play make in the final third against packed defenses and ability to play with more attacking mentality with the ball in possession and not just use long balls to get upfield and let Lukaku drop deep and stifle the attacking play. Would love to see him play that Ozil or Silva or Isco role in our attack.

This season has shown one thing as well that we can't be over-reliant on Pogba next season for creativity because he is not mentally consistent to take that challenge week in week out. We'd be wise to have another attacking playmaker in our ranks as we don't need to play a more defensive 433 against defensive sides who we struggled to break this season. 4231 is also needed sometimes and hed suit us specially when we are crying out for Jose to play better and more entertaining and attacking next season rather than be like a efficient Italian side full of positionally and tactically diciplined midfielders with slow build up play and not very good on the eye but efficient in football. We'd be better off more like Jose's Real madrid side than an efficient but not very exiting Juventus or Roma style team.

I don't doubt his quality or his ability to improve our attack. Its just that he's at his best through the middle where we already have a congested setup and he also adds to the list of our attackers who want the ball at feet and go looking for it at all times. Sure, he can play RW but he'll spend almost all his time through the middle looking to get onto the ball.

his ability to dribble seems exactly what our attack is missing.
Didn't you guys bought Sanchez for the same purpose? Also I think Lingard, Martial are good in that department?

How legit are fekir to Liverpool news? Titles like 'fekir deal 99% done' are floating for sometime and not going down.
He is an exciting player and would be gutted if we don't get him.

Why are you asking that on an Utd forum?

I don't know why you'd be 'gutted' if he didn't go to Liverpool. The transfer business they have done since they got Jürgen Klopp has been excellent, you should just trust the process, if they go for him or not, if they get him or not, they will get players they feel will improve them as they have done each of the 2 summers under him.
I don't even know where Fekir fits on that team. They thinking to change formation to fit him in maybe, Or is the plan to go with a midfield of Henderson, Keita and Fekir? But I honestly don't see why he'd even be a first choice signing for Liverpool. Getting a forward to supplement their front 3, and getting someone who can challenge and improve on Henderson should be more important.

SW usually disappoint.
They disappoint? They just summarise rumours from around the world, do their research where the rumour started and translate everything. As they don't start these rumours, how can they disappoint?

.
It's a relevant question to this thread. If there is more traction in news of him going to Liverpool it's obviously suggesting less chance of him coming here.

Fred will come here, and If Mourinho wants 2 midfielders then it will probably be Savic as the other.

They add their own bias to rumours from abroad and summarize them in the most clickbaity way for an English audience, making spicy headlines about the big PL clubs when they were often barely mentioned if at all in the original article.

What is his best position?

He's being touted on here as one of our midfield 3 - but I;ve always had Fekir down as a striker or #10?

He looks like a very gifted player, but maybe not a good fit for us unless he actually is a CM? He is a central player, we don't play with a #10 very often and he wont replace Lukaku. Playing him wide defeats the point, we already tried countless central players as a RW - guess what - they all cut inside and aren't as effective as they should be

We are not in for attacking players. Willian will be the most advanced player we sign, I'm pretty certain of that.

Nor should we be, we're pretty stocked in attack, we're only missing an RW. it's the midfield and the fb positions that need sorting.

This is true. During LvG's sacking saga, SW kept touting de Telegraaf as a legitimate source and silenced those who claimed otherwise. All because they didn't like Jose (kept casting doubts over Pro-Jose articles). Also, the de Telegraaf articles were written by Marcel van der Kraan, who was LvG's mate and hence had heavy pro-LvG bias -- they were proved wrong in the end.

I'd say SW are good 60-70% of the time though.

I agree, we do sorely need both creativity and width, both of which are lacking at present.

From what I've read, which isn't a great deal, he seems more suited to 10 off the striker. While I'm loath to turn down talented players a firm fit for our right hand side must be the priority for an attacking signing this summer.

He's best as a 10 or second striker. In theory he has the tools to be an excellent playmaking wide man but I'm starting to have doubts as his worst patches of form have consistently coincided with him being deployed on the wing.

He can be played as a CM but it makes the most sense when it's in a 433 paired with two more defensive minded players. His defensive contribution is strong but it's one of an attacker with very aggressive pressing, committing many fouls on the way.

brill thanks.

Based on this then as talented as Fekir is, he isn't the profile we need. We need a specialist RW and specialist CM, no point signing another central player then use him out of position - we already do that too much
