NBA 2025-2026

Wemby ain't a bad player. There is feck all you can do against him.

Very hard to see past OKC though. I felt that they were in second gear for the entire game and still won by 30-something.

OKC can be beaten.

Spurs have already won four straight vs OKC this season, so I know we're a terrible matchup for them, and I fancy us in a series vs them.

If it weren't for Wemby and Castle injuries for 12 games (which we still won most), we'd potentially have taken no. 1 seed from OKC too.

But I like it this way. Spurs don't get talked about much on forums, on social media. All the noise on big market teams or the trendy names, it keeps the pressure lower for us.

Spurs made a diabolical decision throwing the last regular season game, they could’ve avoided Denver in the second round but apparently weren’t even interested.

But yeah, if they both get to the WCF, it’s a true coin toss for me. They’re the Thunder’s true kryptonitr so far, would be a great series. Denver also definitely not without a chance against them as shown in previous years.

I beg your pardon?

Yes. The Lakers are the Lakers. Maybe the Knicks. That's all Sportscenter and Stephen A speak about

But the Spurs are one of the most talked about teams in the league in general. Mostly due to Wemby, but there is a lot of talk of how good your team is. They're a good watch anytime they come into town, either in Brooklyn or at the Knicks

Unlike in football, "good" and "bad" matchups in NBA really are a thing. I am pretty positive that Spurs will beat OKC. But Denver and (probably) Boston are really bad matchup for this Spurs. Denver's slow basketball doesn't suit Spurs, Wemby has a problem with guarding Jokic and, in potential big final, they would be up against Boston who is excellent team and will be much fresher than teams from West.

Also there is Wemby's fitness issue. During the season he played 30 minutes average. For playoffs he will need to play at least 35 per game. Even more.

Cant stand Cavs fans but Cleveland surely is a dark horse this year. Seems like they're kicking into high gear at the right time. With Harden fit again they have a scary lineup. Almost makes me wonder if it's better for the Pistons to go out in the first round rather than lose against that lot. Almost

The Wemby jerk-fest was the most talked about thing in NBA media and social media after SGA's free throws attempts.

The Spurs were interested, just thought they can do the job without Wemby but the rest of the team had an awful night. It happens. They also have this attitude we will go through anyone so I don't think they are that much down about their route.

You could also argue that the Nuggets made a mistake going for 3rd seed not avoiding the Wolves. They will maybe win the series but it will take its toll on them.

You could be right but I just don't believe Harden/Mitchell when going gets tough.

Hardest path to the Finals imo. Now the Wolves (dropping Game 2 likely means a long series here), then San Antonio, then very likely OKC in the WCF. They'll be exhausted even if they get there yeah, although I think both them and SA have what it take to overcome OKC.

It definitely looks that way.

What was Murray thinking with that long two attempt at the end of the game, when Nuggets needed a three?

Wemby first unanimous DPOY selection since the the trophy was created.

Can't look past him for the next 5-10 years in seasons he meets the games played threshold.

True - though his style of play doesn't seem sustainable for that long vs say a Jokic. If he does - scary for the rest of the league.

Let's see if the "global" NBA will figure out a way to show SA

Probably doesn't help San Antonio has one of the smallest TV markets in the league.
My comment got cut. :(
I originally wrote „Let’s see if the global* NBA will find a way to show a San Antonio game before 3am French time.“

That rockets offense is criminal.

Free win for the Thunder in the next round if they even get past the Lakers.

At a risk of jinxing it, but feels unlikely at this point that they win 4 before we win 2. I also read reports earlier that Luka could be back for Game 3 but seems like he's still in Spain?

We might be able to at least make things interesting if Luka is healthy (and rested) for a second round series but even then I can't really see it, OKC will be rested as well given that they'll likely have a sweep in R1.

Vintage LeBron though, imagine putting up 28-8-7 at age 41 in a playoff series :nervous:

I change my mind @RobinLFC

Keep 7 game first rounds
Still not convinced, those Game 3s at Portland/Minnesota/Philly would even be more interesting and must-win for the higher seed if it's a best-of-5. The longer the series, the higher the odds for the lower seeds to overcome a better team 4 games out of 7.

Good win for my Blazers and encouraging to see Scoot thrive. I haven’t given up on him yet.

After reading up on it.

That's almost a month for Luka then? Extremely high re-injury risk when getting back into it at playoff intensity with a recent hamstring injury.

Stating the obvious but we really need to win at least one game in Houston.

Being 2-0 to the Lakers without Luka and AR is really embarrassing.

Udoka is fecking shit coach who can't coach a real offense. He thinks he's better than he is and that 1 season in Boston males him walk around Houston like this roster should be grateful to him he's coaching them. Fire him. Feck off back to being someone's assistant.

Also not getting real point guard at the deadline is biting us big time. Amen and Reed have benefited from more reps but we really should have tried to get Jrue.

I think that is an even bigger issue than Udoka. Very hard to see teams doing well without a point guard, unless they have a big man who is a point guard in disguise (like LeBron or Jokic).

Saying that, it is still embarrassing. If Luka returns for the next game, it is gonna be a sweep.

And LeBron is still a freak

See above, he'll be out for the series unfortunately.

We do. His name is Sengun but Udoka doesn't really know how to utilise his skills set as a creative big.

Didn't want to shit too much on the Rockets as the Lakers were impressive but that was really horrendous all around. Everything looks off, offense, defense slightly better but the Lakers still beat them on effort... even team chemistry looks fecked up when you are watching them throughout the game. Just don't look as a team. It reminded me of that sequence against the Wolves in the regular season when Sengun made the monster block at the buzzer to send the game to OT busting his lip on the floor with not a single one of his teammates coming to him or acknowledging it. They seem way off in everything they do.

No matter how good OKC actually is, it’s the absolute worst kind of basketball. I hope they lose and I hope they do so not by playing bad, but by being given a taste of their own medicine. Make believe fouls all over the place - even offensive fouls on the Suns! I hope the Suns players go _hard_ and really physical in garbage time in the eventual knockout game (4?). Make the fouls actually hurt really bad , and properly pay back with interest for the neymaresque baiting going on. Might as well foul properly and with intention at this point, because the foul is given no matter what.

Yeah I never really watched a full game with OKC until yesterday and I can def see how frustrating it must be to play against that. I dont even like Phoenix and even If was a fan of them the longer the game went on - just to stick it to OKCs shenanigans.
