1-1 at halftime in a game where we could have been 3-4 goals up if our players knew how to shoot :)

Williams gave us the lead in a goal that may go down as an owngoal. Williams put in a low cross, keeper came off his line to stop the cross, but a defender got there first and cleared the ball straight back to Williams. He hammered the ball towards the near post and the ball went in off the goalkeeper who was trying to get back onto his line. Impossible to say without a proper replay if the ball had gone in if the keeper hadnt touched it.

Newcastle equalized after some sloppy defending from Nolan. He left his winger who ran free down the left, Nolan then chased him back but threw himself to the ground to block a cross. The winger easily pulled the ball back and found Munda in the box who curled it brilliantly into the top corner from 13-14 yards out. That was the kind of composure that our attacking players lacked - Murray, Williams, Berry and Wheatley together had 7-8 efforts combined that all went wide or over the bar. Only Aljofree had a decent attempt at goal - but his volley from a corner was saved by the keeper.

Oyadele once again very good - and defensively is one of the best central midfielders I have seen at U18-levels - he is so composed on the ball. Ajofree and Jackson have both been very good defensively - going forward we have looked good until we try to shoot. Berry and Fitzgerald are really good on the ball but too lightweight in duels .

2-1 Berry - great shot from 20 yards - finally a good strike from a United-player. 8 minutes left to play. Subs Musa and Lacey have really helped United

Norkett the victim of a gliding tackle straight to the jewels - that one hurt just by looking at it. He seems ok after a while :)

Ruud ftw
Really should have won that, had so many promising positions but Murray and Berry in particular were guilty of picking the wrong option or just not executing technically.

Oyedele superb again though. Mainoo, Gore and Oyedele as CMs in that second-year group is an embarrassment of riches.

Shea Lacey is supposed to be a big talent and his touch and technique is immaculate for a kid his age. It'll be interesting to see how he develops in the coming years.

Will be good for Oyedele to train with Casemiro a bit as he grows into his role etc - a lot to learn from. Played well again today.

We definitely need a striker, Berry and Williams look like the two most dangerous players in the team

Yeah we lack a striker - and the team is too lightweight going forward.

Fitzgerald showed a lot of nice touches - but in a duel he was basically pushed off the ball. Berry has something of the same problem. The one player who actually impresses me the most in this team together with Oyedele - is Aljofree. For such a young player he looks incredible composed. He is fairly tall, he has good pace, good on the ball and very composed. He could go far.

And then we have our own TAA - James Nolan. He looks so dangerous going forward - and the opposite defending. He is simply too aggressive - and gets caught out of possession several times in each match

I suspect they are best because they're the oldest players on the pitch. Nothing wrong with Aljofree, but there is a reason he is playing U18 when younger players are playing U21.

Could be many reasons for it - As you say maybe the coaches feel for instance Fredricsen is a better choice. But Aljofrees way of playing, imo would fit Erik Ten Hag's United better than any of the other central defenders we have around his age.

Yeah I kind of like his long-range passing.

He looks like a player who could receive the ball and pass it out of defence - something I wouldn't trust players like Mengi, Bennett or Fish to do
