Looks good. Maybe Matic for Fred but i'm fine with it. Give this defensive pairing another shot. You're our only hope.

The new signings will be playing in the Carabaro Cup, apart from Cavani as Woodward request that his our star man now after taking the #7.
Yikes I really hope you’re wrong here. I have a horrible feeling you might not be :nervous:

I think we will do well defensively against Newcastle.

Lindelof will have a point to prove. Maguire will be desperate to make amends for last game. AWB I feel will improve as we progress into the season and I hope Telle has a flying start. All guesswork but I'm thinking positively.

Excellent! We need some positivity around the club now. Everyone - players, staff, supporters - collectively seem down and that's not helping on the pitch. Even Ole, Mr Positive, has looks less upbeat of late and I'm thinking that's due to the lack of support he got from the board this summer and being surprised by it.

We'll probably play 5 at the back. I remember when we were destroyed by City, we went to Everton the following weekend and went very defensive and compact for a few more games

Think Ole will play like this for a moment while we regain fitness and confidence.

To be honest, the likes of Pogba and Maguire shouldn't play, but we all know that they will...

What I would like to see (knowing that there's PSG 4 days after, Cavani in quarantine and Pellestri (who's that guy))

I just don't want to see Maguire in defence. He should be dropped like any other player would be.

Ah when you wake up and think it’s match day today and then realise it’s international week, as bad as we have been it’s still preferable to watching England!

If the team don’t hit the ground running and look lethargic then we’ll know that Ole has lost the dressing room.

We need an instant response to that Spurs result. We need to absolutely hammer Newcastle to remove the doom and gloom.

Hard to get an instant response after an international break tbh

Very true. But I do hope we hit the ground running. We are so languid in our approach and there is no excuse for it. This is a good group of players and we should be comfortably beating teams like Newcastle.

I like that. Pogba as a DM has not been very productive of late. The backroom pass does not work. Better let Pogba drift out wide and try his passes into the box instead (in effect, 4-3-3). Bicky at the far post. Fred + VDB also gives better protection for the fullbacks.

Matic is static, its like having an extra CB in front of defence. McT offers nothing upfront in terms of creativity. On the other hand Pogba best games with Juventus came as that of a left sided mezzala ie a CM who helps on the flank too. VDB is hardworking and better defensively then Pogba is. I am sure he can do the same on the right.

Meanwhile Greenwood and Rashford would need to cover the STK role while also help their respective wing. This fluid system can easily switch to a 4-5-1 or even 4-6-0 when defending to a 4-4-2 or even a 4-2-2-2 when attacking.

Think we need to go back to basics with the amount of goals we have been shipping in and go with a more defensive, mobile and hardworking side.

For as long as I can remember, this has always been one of Sky's first-pick fixtures. OK, we are not the draw we once were, but that's usually their excuse for showing it: we might get tonked.

Now, suddenly, it's a PPV game. Black marketeers! We now know talks about PPV have been going on for ages - they are just taking us for mugs. Absolutely no way, I'm paying for this.

I presume it will be the commentary on the radio, and i'll just have to tell myself it's like an old-fashioned Saturday 3pm kick off. No more money for the pirates

Makes more sense that formation. Maybe try Williams instead of AWB on the right. Matic can drop between the centre backs while the wing backs push forward. Attacking we'd have Bruno pogba and Donny playing behind the 2 strikers. Never happen but I like it

Yeh if Martials out then it gets our best players in a lineup that works. Telles able to attack down the left with Matic dropping in.
