in short: Draft Theme : A variation on the Chain Draft format where geography plays a big role. Your first pick is free to pick from every player that has ever played the sport professionally. Following that, every pick must belong to a nation (see below) that shares a CURRENT political border with the nation of his previous pick.

The Double Penetration Draft
Was watching some good old porn late yesterday and thought of this.
1. Drafting starts both from the front and back (I mean top and bottom of course).
2. Two snakes run in parallel with different pools (say European and non-European footballers)
3. Idea is for both ends of the table to have a taste of early and late picks at the same time.
4. Since drafting would be super fast, could have 16 players with multiple injuries every round.

open the thread scrappy, by the time we get numbers we will be good to go as both semi finals should be done by the end of the week.
watching the teams in the current draft and it feels boring as feck tbh, same old players same old teams. Its a brilliant new concept from scrappy so the drafting process is fresh and fun but we done so many all-time drafts that its just repetition now......we should bin all-time drafts for at least a year and do specific drafts where everyone maybe gets one while the rest of the team is filled with new faces. League/tournament specific, manager specific drafts etc.
We just need more new faces with different perspectives. General Elegancia's team was really refreshing to see for instance.

Maybe a 10-man draft. One player unexpectedly earns a red card so the teams have to make do with 10 men.

Totally agree. Becomes quite formulaic, although I like the way GSTQ has unsettled the normal order here. Would love to get into some fresh player pools, or even revisit some old ones from previous drafts.
I think lots of injuries is the way forward to make things less robotic. You can never really have a fixed plan.
The problem with trying out new faces is you wont find enough interest beyond 1 draft and struggle to fill numbers. The virgin draft that @Invictus run was really fun though. I'd be up for a second edition of the virgin draft. (Basically, anyone who has ever won a draft is blocked). Still not a fresh pool mind you.

We’ve done those SA/Eastern European or tournament-specific drafts that may be fun to revisit with the slight tweaks in criteria/rules.

I quite liked the game drafts (monopoly etc) and also I think the 4way draft we did the once was one of my favourites, made the drafting much more enjoyable.
A reserve draft with one player per country rule would be nice.
I reckon we could go back to the decades drafts but with maybe requirements to have 5 non-European players in each starting line-up.
How about a decades draft with you only allowed one player per EU country and two per non-EU country. So a bit like Scrappy's current one but with a decades restriction and a normal snake.

You can have 5 all time historical greats(retired), and 11 players from today, who have not nominated in either Ballon Dor votings and neither been their league's yearly XIs and BPOTY awards.

We would have 4 groups at the start(4 managers in Bundesliga, 4 managers in Prem, 4 LaLiga, 4 SerieA). Every group can only pick players that played within their league.
First phase of competition would be within the group and 2 winners would then go into the phase 2 where they compete in the "Champions League" against the winners of other groups. In first phase we look at the peaks in the league while in the second phase its a career peak. As some leagues have some advantages reckon its only fair to try and level the things which means that managers that never won the draft will pick first which league they want.

Idea for in match:
Both sides have to submit an additional formation pic with their expectation of how the opposition will line-up. This might make the matches more tactical and reward out of the box thinking

Idea to refresh the pool a bit:
- All players that finished 1-3 in a WC are blocked
- All players that played for either Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, PSG, Juventus, Milan, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munchen, Flamengo are blocked
