At the beginning of the window or let us say 5months ago, No one knew Neymar would be available, Madrid made a play for and signed Hazard a player who plays the same role

If around January, Perez knew Neymar might be available, I am sure he would probably rethink the Hazard signing
When fit and ready to play, he is a much better player than Hazard and much more marketable. Most Madrid fans will dread having that Neymar with their rival

Barca lining up Messi Griezman Neymar vs Hazard Jovic Benzema/Bale favors Barcelona a lot

Yeah agreed. I think even up until as recently as a month or so ago, no one dared to think Neymar could be leaving psg.

Plus Chong on a season loan should be enough.

Nope he isn't, he's been a pro so far and that is with him wanting to leave. Was he disruptive at Barca and Santos, yeah well indirectly, there have been stories of money fraud and tax evasion linked with him and his camp since he mvoed from Brazil to Europe. The man doesn't arrive without bagages off and on the field. I think he even got his coach fired at Santos because he was complaining about lack of playing time. He is a huge baby and one a club like United that's trying to rebuild itself, has to avoid at all costs, despite his incredible footballing ability. Neymar comes with too much bagages

The step back he took at Barca was necessary because he was new and was in the process of learning, once he found out he wanted to be the main man of a team, he engineered his move to PSG. Now do you think if he ever goes to another club, he'll turn back into a "normal" player who won't try to be the center of attention ? I highly doubt it as he is obsessed with the Ballon d'Or.

It's pretty senseless for any other club to debate the value of signing Neymar because he's going to go to Barcelona, if he leaves PSG.

I'm not convinced he will be a great signing for Barcelona, as they weren't short of attacking quality last season, and still managed to throw away the semi-final versus Liverpool almost entirely due to just absolutely dreadful defending. And they looked pretty shaky at the back in the first-leg, and only really won 3-0 because of Messi.

So if they were bad at the back last season, with Messi, Neymar, Griezmann and Suarez all supposedly playing in the same team, none of whom offers anything defensively, they're going to be like Newcastle under Kevin Keegan. Busquets, de Jong, Roberto and Alba are going to be knackered by the end of the season, that's for sure.

I personally don't see how they can play all four in the same team, and I think they'll be forced to rotate, and have one eye on Suarez moving on in the future, possibly at the end of next season.

Neymar is comfortably better than those players when he’s fully fit and firing.

He’s a couple of levels above mbappe still. Also, as marketable as pogba is; neymar is still more marketable. He has a wider reach.

He’s been the best player in the world at various periods of time (while Messi has been injured/Ronaldo not 100%). Hazard has never been top 3.

If (and it’s a big “if”) Neymar wants his Ballon d’or, he simply can’t afford to play in the same team with Messi. His only chance is to become the leader in some other team

Whatever the case, not a player needed at Utd.

    a) we havent got the defence to warrant a Neymar.
    b) cannot afford him

No, as it is near impossible to reach such heights in a non-competitive league. Currently it’s either La Liga or EPL

Real went in on Hazard too early. Had they waited a bit more and seen these developments, I feel they would have signed him over Hazard.

Maybe someone had a word and told him not to anymore. I mean you either continue to toughen up or you try 'protect' yourself.

I really don't think he is the type of player that United need. He strikes me as a spoiled baby who sulks when things don't go his way. Personality is every bit as important as ability.

If United could broker a deal that saw Sanchez going the other way, I'd be all for signing him. He's a bit of a cockwomble but he'd attract a lot of attention that would give other players more space, he's really creative and he's got unpredictable flair.

My main concern would be his diving, as it wouldn't be tolerated and he'll be targeted by opponents and referees, but if it didn't work out we could easily move him on in a year or two to one of the big teams in Spain - his value is unlikely to decrease significantly. He could easily become the talisman that we need and that we've missed for a while.

Personality is as important as ability? Says the ex club of Mourinho.
I don't really think United are in the position to be turning down one of the worlds best 5 five players, regardless of their on/off field shenanigans.
It's not like you haven't had players of questionable character before. Everyclub has/ had them, United are not exempt.
Cristiano's serial diving didn't stop you idolising him.
    Neymar would instantly improve Untied.

Ronaldo despite his diving was a strong player, who was able to overcome constant fouling. Neymar is weak willed & cry's like a baby if he is touched, & sulks when things don't go his way. He would make us a laughing stock.

Neymar is a great player, but I don't really want him back in Barcelona. Aside from the fact that he left the club on the back door, actually suing us for loyalty money after leaving for PSG, he has also had 3 major injuries since then, two of them on the same metatarsal. As good as he is when he is fit, I simply don't have any confidence that his foot will not become a chronic issue in the future. In this case, spending upwards of 200m and 20m+ in wages on him could be a financial disaster for us. We are on a slippery slope as it is.

Regarding the last reports saying that we have offered PSG a choice of two players + 90m, I think they are bull. If it were to sky sources we would have signed Willian two seasons ago for 70m. They have no sources inside Barcelona. Bartomeu is an imbecile but I think even he is not that stupid to make that kind of offer. There is also the fact that it was reported a few days ago that we have offered Cout, Rakitic + 40m and now we go straight to letting them choose the players + 50m more? Doubtful.

Sometimes I genuinely ask myself whether Manchester United fans want our club to return to her glory days. A lot of us fans are like the proverbial beggar that is so selective and picky.

My bad, that was indeed very confusing. I meant best dribbler. I also understand why that post triggered Tostao now.

Pogba polarizes, you've got fans who criminally underrate him and some who absolutely adore him. Especially during United's run of good form you read some incrediblly over the top stuff about him in here. I think it's also quite obvious that his general attributes are loved by most English fans. There are few football cultures around the world that value strength, dynamic, power etc. as much as the English does, IMO it's fair to say that this is at least a commonly agreed perception and not a mere assumption as suggested by roonster. British fans admire and respect players like Bernardo Silva, Iniesta or Xavi but they truly love their box to box midfielders dragging the ball across the pitch before launching 20+m shots on goal and playing quarterback like passes to the strikers - and Pogba's the reinvention of that.

He signed for God's own team, and gets his hero boost from God's Evil Right Hand Florentino

I am actually not all that sure. A year ago yeah, we would have dropped Hazard like a sack of potatoes the moment we had an inkling neymar was available. This year though...i dunno, it feels like for whatever reason Flo dropped his interest on him in favour of Hazard...

I guess the reason is Zidane and i agree with the French. I would also prefer Hazard, because of his character and his style of play. He fits better in Zidanes Diamond. Looking forward to see Mbappe at Real next summer.

in those 20 minutes a few years back where the Glazers were supposedly going to sign a "galactico every season (is there a Manchester term for that ha ha), this would be it. today: not a chance and I'n not sure I'm terribly upset by the idea

I'm confident that a £150M signing of Hazard will prove much better value for Madrid than a £200M+ signing of Neymar for Barcelona

If anything, if PSG can get Demebele, Countinho and cash then they will be absolutely laughing

“Eden’s a top player. A player of high quality and, like Neymar, Eden has the quality to be in the top five,” Marcelo was quoted as saying by El Chiringuito TV.

“Hazard is impressive. You can’t compare them, but Neymar is better for me,” said Marcelo.

No? I mean, we've been after Hazard in earnest long before Zidane came back. I don't think he had anything to do with it

    Also, Zidane's diamond?

    1. He's Brazilian, been friends with Neymar for years, while Hazard is just a new teammate.
    2. Of course Neymar is the better player, but he's got twice the price, wages, and comes with a thousand times more baggage that the club will have to deal with 24/7.

PSG don't need Neymar to carry on winning Ligue Un by 30 points each season.

They wanted Neymar to help win the Champions League, but having to play week in week out in such an uncompetitive domestic league really hurts them. They don't appear to be any closer even with Neymar. Take the cash and be happy you've undone a grotesquely expensive mistake.

I can confirm that he was the reason the Santos coach, Dorival Jr., was given the sack, albeit lack of playing time wasn't the reason. One day Neymar threw a ridiculous tantrum at him during a match and things went downhill from there. Brazilian media sided with Neymar and the opposition coach, René Simões, was famously quoted after that match saying that "we're creating a monster". That quote is well reminded in Brazil even a decade later, since Neymar's overprotection by the media, his camp and the national team staff proved detrimental to his character.
Fun fact: around that time, Santos made a dossier to the Brazilian Football Confederation complaining about the number of fouls he received. René Simões replied that they should make a dossier on how often he dove. Sounds familiar?
Long story short, Neymar was raised like a special snowflake. He's unable to look himself in the mirror and face criticism, because everytime his attitudes are questioned, people rush to close his eyes and ears and tell how special he is and how everyone is wrong. In a sense, I feel a little sorry for him because he could have reached for the stars and be remembered as one of the goats. Instead, he'll go down as a great gifted player with an UCL title on his resume. That's a very successful carreer, but it falls short of what he could have been.
He's still young enough to make a push for his peak, but if he doesn't fix his attitude (I have no reason to believe he will), then I think he'll go through the infamous Brazilian decay.

PSG knocked out Chelsea in 2016 yes,
before the unreal PSG/Manchester , the last 10 confrontations between BPL vs L1 in CL:
-6 wins for the L1 club,
    -2 wins for BPL club.
    -2 draws.

    L1: PSG, Monaco, Lyon
Bpl: MU, City, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal.

I like MU, but the arrogance of BPL fans has no limit
