Teams no one outside LA likes doing well: all LA teams. Stafford still a traitor. Though him I like ok, his wife less so. Still not sure if getting Goff in exchange was the smart move in our situation. That last min loss to SF bc of a stupid coaching decision will haunt us for years if they don't make up for the collapse last year.
 
Aaron Donald is suggesting he might come out of retirement now as well so the Rams can have two helmet wielders instead of just one. I almost regret that fortuitous bust...

They were already SB favourites before all this. Adding Garrett AND Donald on top is just ridiculous.

Only things that’d make me pause are the special teams looking suspect and Stafford’s age. He’s still great, but at this point there’s always that risk he just hits the cliff overnight.

I think the biggest concern is not Stafford‘s age per se, but his back injury. One unlucky hit and the Rams are toast.

Russell Wilson has officially retired. Shame how his last few years went, was such a great player to watch in his prime. Still miss seeing him scramble around the backfield for ten minutes with half a dozen 49ers in pursuit before throwing to an open Doug Baldwin.
 
He really suddenly fell off a cliff. He also wasn’t just a scrambling ad-hoc QB, either. Wonder what ultimately causes it.

I think the biggest issue was he didn't adapt when teams started playing more and more cover 2 against us starting mid 2020 season when he had that insane start to the season. His biggest strength (aside from the scrambling) was his moonballs, he was an absurdly good deep passer, this one is my personal favourite. But his biggest weakness was taking the short, underneath throws that he needed to keep drives alive when facing cover 2, he'd just hold the ball too long and get sacked because he couldn't scramble anymore.
 
It is very funny that the state of Indiana will be home to two NFL teams and New York won't have a single one.

And it’s not like he hadn’t declined prior to his injury. His most dominant days were already in the past before that. His trajectory reminds me a lot of Rodgers.

I wonder if his “decline” was linked in some way to roster issues, but you’re right he wasn’t his usual invincible self prior to the injury.

Rodgers was a backup for three years, had a losing record in his first season as a starter, didn't win his first (and only) ring until his 6th year in the league, and won half of his MVPs aged 37 or older. None of those are even remotely comparable to Mahomes' trajectory, perhaps the style of play is comparable (deep threat/making things happen to underneath/checkdown stuff) but that's about it imo.

I mean the way Rodgers declined. Rodgers had a few years from 2010 to about 2015, when he was playing on a level nobody in the league even came close to. Mahomes was similar, basically from his second season as a starter onwards. And both started to decline after a few years at the top, without any reason known to the public. They were both still very good and among the best in the league. But they somehow lost this uniqueness, that set them apart.

This might well be a part of it. But when watching him, I always feel he has lost a bit of what made him so special, regardless of his support. As if he’s now so set in his ways, that he lost this improvisational talent of his. I think at one point these QB‘s become so powerful within an organisation, that they can make many decisions for themselves and can demand to play in ways that they like. Which can hinder them a bit.

That's fair yeah but I don't think he necessarily "lost" it, I think it's a multitude of factors such as defenses adjusting, having more tape on him, more conservative gameplans, different OC, ... Rodgers was still brilliant deep into his 30s albeit perhaps in a different way than in the early 2010s. For me Mahomes is still up there with arm talent and improvisation despite what he's shown the last few seasons, I think he can still get close to that 2018 level. Find it hard to believe you suddenly lose "it" or that deep ball ability when you're only 30 years old.
 
Can someone with a lot more knowledge than me tell me if the Commanders have improved in the offseason?

Hopefully Daniels will be fully fit for the whole season. Are they expected to challenge their division again?
