NFL 2026 | The LA Rams are All - in!!

Rondale Moore has passed away, sounds like a suicide :( Damn, man. RIP.

Contract made zero sense at the time and even worse now. They gave a QB coming off a major injury - an Achilles tear at that - who was turning 35 in August a deal that guaranteed $90m which included a $50m signing bonus. They also were found guilty of tampering and levied a $250k fine (big whoop) and lost a fifth round pick. This decision is surely in the top 5/10 all-time bad NFL free-agent contracts, up there with Haynesworth and Watson.

Don't need to look much further than your own team if you're talking all-time bad contracts with what you paid your CBs Bland and Diggs, and Zeke's contract before that ;)

I think the all-time bad label is one that we can put on it in hindsight, but at the time it was a (very) high risk, high reward gamble, which obviously didn't pay off, but one could've argued at the time that Cousins was a borderline top 10 QB in the league and his mobility wasn't that important to his all-around game. Not trying to defend the Falcons here, but I remember at the time it was moreso described as a gamble rather than immediately "all-time bad contract" territority, unless I'm way off the mark here with how I remember it going down back then.

I still don't think he's entirely done for in the league either. Would possibly do a better job in Minnesota than JJ next season.

The key bit is these mentions weren't free agent contracts, they were rookie extensions. Those contracts may be bad but they wouldn't crack a top 10, just a reason to slam Dallas which there are dozens to pick from. The worst FA signing for Dallas would probably be Joey Galloway, although he was acquired in a trade it's really more a sign-and-trade under the franchise/transition tag nonsense; contract was outrageous and they gave up two first round picks. Brandon Carr would be the next one up, disaster contract though did start 80/80 games in his five years. Mike Vanderjagt was a disaster signing, didn't finish his first year before being released. Greg Hardy was a terrible mistake but only for one year so no carryover to future cap years; I thought it was a terrible, unnecessary gamble considering his off-field stuff. Gerald McCoy was released before his first contract year began but they had an injury waiver clause and the team got out quite cheap.

*Zeke still performed at top tier level the first year of his extension before falling off and was not coming off major injury concern. I wouldn't have given him that extension because I value money elsewhere over RB but I also would have drafted Ramsey over Zeke in 2016.
*Diggs tore his ACL in September after signing his extension, but coming off consecutive PB selections; debatable contract but he wasn't coming off a major injury.
*Bland's extension was terrible as he was coming off a major injury, wasn't an immediate necessity, and he was going into a scheme not applicable to his best ability. This seemingly points to a massive oversight with the Dallas front office when evaluating coaching hires and contract management.

Steele's extension was the worst for Dallas in recent memory, didn't make sense at the time. He wasn't good, is more a turnstile than a competent tackle, was coming off ACL + MCL injuries, and it wasn't necessary. Utterly bizarre personnel decision.

Nothing anyone with 2 eyes didnt already know. The rodgers int against baltimore should have stood.

Also got the likely td catch in the same game wrong.

This is after admitting the call on pittsburgh missed was also wrong.

So 3 wrongs calls in the 1 game all for pittsburgh.

Same game as the 'three step' ruling, in case anyone forgot. Which they continue to defend, as far as I'm aware.

They previously admitted the mistake on a penalty on a FG which gave a fresh set of downs leading to a TD.

All favouring the Steelers.

One of the biggest screw jobs of last season

Scouting Combine
Scouting Combine day-by-day schedule is as follows:
  • Thursday, Feb. 26 (3-8 p.m. ET): Defensive linemen, linebackers
  • Friday, Feb. 27 (3-8 p.m. ET): Defensive backs, tight ends
  • Saturday, Feb. 28 (1-8 p.m. ET): Quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs
  • Sunday, March 1 (1-5 p.m. ET): Offensive linemen

The tape hasn’t been kind to some pass rushers today. Not a surprise in Bain’s case but still not great for them.

Doesn’t apply to the monsters Florida DT Banks or LB Sonny Styles though. The latter looks almost as much a sure thing as S Downs. Whatever they’re feeding those guys in Buckeye land it’s working.

Dallas is still fecked. They're gonna have to hit on every draft pick this year. As much as I like Pickens, keeping him to then pay him a hefty price is gonna hurt and make them basically the Bengals - all offense, no defense. Minnesota also look fecked.

Conversely, if I'm running the Chargers, Commanders, Patriots, Rams, Seahawks, or 49ers, I'd make all effort to go for it this year (and next perhaps based on how 2026 turns out) and spend some money on extensions and free agents. Commanders need a healthy Daniels though and hope he doesn't regress ala RGIII, Mac Jones, and Stroud in recent memory.

Niners have a lot of holes, need to get a decent haul from Mac, draft well and hope we stay healthy.

Jets

Their dead cap is 2/3 their active spend

And almost 1/3 the entire salary cap

Imagine how bad you must have fecked up to reach that situation.

Some of the single player cap hits are utterly mental. Not least the massage pervert.

I’m loving the Love rumors of going higher than expected, even as high as the Titans. Whatever keeps him away from KC.

They could still get a cornerstone defensive asset or a WR1 there, as that’s sort of the hinge point of the draft which is annoying.

Combine is over, trades are happening and we are fully into the off season

Pickens already tagged by Cowboys

Looks like Pitts will get tagged as well

Hold up. Two bar patrons were telling me last night that Bad Bunny had terrible ratings and reviews, I recommended they look up real facts. Blah blah from them. Funny that.
