Non-televised academy matches

Unseen output at his age in the academy during my time paying attention
Can't remember anything like it. Greenwood had a similar record in his first foray to the u18s, but he was exactly 1 year older than JJ Gabriel. Gomes took him a while for him to dominate. You could clearly see he was adjusting to it, and him dominating at early age 16, was impressive at the time compared to our other good u18 players over the years. Shoretire was just solid, and moved up regardless.

Yeah, like Greenwood was excellent and Lacey's quality is exceptional when he's fit but what JJ's doiing at 14 is obscene.
Yeah, I didn't think I'd see someone strike the ball as well as Greenwood with both feet anytime soon but we might have got one in JJ. Then JJ has great dribbling and shot separation skills to add to that, making him absolutely lethal.

Total domination from United both in goals and goal attempts - latest I saw was 11-1 in shots - and that was after 35 minutes

That midfield we have with Bailey, Thwaites and Ibragimov - surely that must be the best midfield we have had at this level when it comes to ball controll and movement. We have had better passers of the ball - but those 3's near-control with the ball is head and shoulders above what we have had before

If he was 16/17 we'd be talking about bringing him into the first team already, it's only his age and stature holding him back.

By next summer he'll have done most of his growing and I imagine he'll be on the preseason tour gearing up towards a debut.

His ball striking hasn't stood out to me as much, at least not the through the laces type efforts that Greenwood was unbelievable at but he's much more rounded than Greenwood was, far better dribbler and has good shot variation.

I don't think we've had a passing metronome quite like Thwaites in decades, he's like the new gen sat nav. I think he pushes this midfield above the Mainoo, Gore, Oyedele. The only competition is the Garner, Levitt, Galbraith one (2 soon to be premier league players? if Galbraith gets promoted)

I think it'll end up being his best asset to be honest, but yeah different techniques.

Pogba, Ravel and Tunnicliffe was pretty good. Gomes, Garner and Dylan Levitt was very good too.

The 2 best striking technicians were Greenwood and James Wilson. They could kick the ball hard and low. Greenwood with the benefit of being able to do it with both feet.

JJ looks like he's more inventive than Greenwood, and better in smaller spaces. Also looks to play with pace with most of his touches, which is also a trait Ibragimov has (who opts to pass quicker as his method).

His ball striking is good but not Greenwood level. However he's a higher volume shooter, i.e he gets into positions that he can shoot more often with his dribbling, pace, positioning and combination with other players.

Latest score is 0-4 - Ibragimov penalty. If we can get one more goal - we will lead the table

This is just absurd.. we have had quite some talents play in the u-18 in recent years.

Mantato, Ibragimov, Obi, Biancheri, Ethan Williams, Lacey, Scanlon but none were scoring at this rate.

This guy turns 15 begin October and scoring at a freakish rate, I really wonder what he was doing in the U-16's last year.

Chido's goal scoring record for Arsenal in the u18 was similar, but that was as someone 1 year older than JJ.

Wasn't it U16 that he was really dominating? Have to say I was expecting more standout performances from Chido since he arrived. Bit worrying that he's apparently removed all reference to United from his socials too.

It's good to see JJ score goals. It raises my expectation of him, but I have watched academy players quite a bit that I know there is simply no point to have too much of it.

He doesn't turn 18 until late November so would have qualified for u16s most of his Arsenal u18

I know that. I was just replying to the poster who asked if it was U16 that Chido was dominating. The answer is no; he was dominating the U18s.

Galbraith is still my favourite central midfielder we've produced since Scholes. Former Northern Ireland manager Ian Baraclough likened him to Xavi and Iniesta and I've always thought the same. The way he turns away from pressing opposition was always satisfying to watch.

I'm loving that he's currently getting some recognition. Swansea fans love him and his Northern Ireland performance against Luxembourg was just heavily praised. I still think he's premier league quality, and Swansea fans seem to think so now, too. Reading their forum, they think it won't be long until a PL side tries to sign him.

I'm hoping that he plays tonight against Germany. He probably won't even see much of the ball but it'll just be great to see him in such a high profile game against top level opposition.

I actually thought of Gomes in that manner. His play for the u19 was that profile. Not surprised that he's succeeding in that role in his first team career.

The one player who always impressed me - even if it was a while ago - was David Jones. There was one season at the end of his United-career when he played a lot in central midfield for our U21s and he more or less completely dominated every game he played. I actually expected him to do even better than he did - but he still had a good career.

Bit of an Ollie Norwood though. Classy player technically and works hard but perhaps not got that extra speed of thought or physical talent to get to the top.

U18's against Burnley coming up on MUTV in 20 minutes. It wasn't on the listings until this morning.

17s have their opening PL Cup game tonight against Blackburn, kicks off in 20 minutes. I imagine Fletcher will be taking these matches.

No stream or live scores so will have to rely on players' social media for any updates.

Lost 3-1.

Not enough goals in this U-18s this year. Hopefully some of them will develop into it as the season progresses. We need a CF like Obi or Biancheri and prolific midfielders/wingers in the mould of Ethan Williams and James Scanlon.
