Non-televised academy matches

U17s play Stoke in the PL Cup tonight:

Osuchukwu

Helafu
Emsden-James
Ngwashi
Plunkett

McEvoy (c)
Shah

Brown
Ibrovic-Fletcher
Gabriel

D. Nkoto

Subs: Irving (GK), O'Brien, McCormack, Watson, Carrick

2-0, Brown.

Watson has replaced Plunkett after 25 minutes. Hoping that was planned and Plunkett hasn't suffered an injury on his return.

Stoke have got one back, 2-1. O'Brien has also come on for Ngwashi.

U18s 1-0 up against Boro at half-time in the P.L Cup. Goal scored by Lusale in the 43rd minute

Finished 2-0, Lusale also scored the second. Pretty much through to the QFs now.

16s drew 2-2 in their PL Cup game against Boro. Not sure what the result of their first one against Brighton was.

There is a match soon. Shame the cost cutting from the club has virtually killed off this forum.
It's ridiculous. If every U21 and U18 match was broadcast on the club site and MUTV, you'd think the club would end up making a net profit...not to mention all the other intangible benefits of building a connection between supporters, the academy and the next generation of potential superstars.

It is so disappointing how they have slipped on this. A lot of fans love watching the next generation of players coming through and become invested in certain of them. These days you don’t even know if a game is going to be shown or not.

I’m surprised they haven’t identified MUTV as an area they can grow - most organisations seem to love the idea of a platform they can get people to subscribe to, but for most people the youth matches are the only real reason why you’d pay for MUTV.

Some good news - City are losing at home to Liverpool with just minutes of injury time to play. Match ended 3-2 Liverpool

U16s at the PL National Tournament over the weekend. Drew both of our opening group games against Sunderland & Wolves 0-0. One group game left tomorrow, against Fulham, but pretty much out unless we win & get lucky with other results.

I know Kai Rooney is still injured & potentially a couple more, so struggling for goals without.

Lost 2-0 to Fulham and then drew 0-0 to Forest before losing on pens.

Is this the equivalent of what they’ve won the last two years or something different? Isn’t that usually towards the end of the season?

No, it’s not.

Each age group usually has 1 or 2 tournaments a season that take place across a weekend with shorter matches. This is one of those.

Then each age group also has one tournament that takes place across the whole season. At U16 level that’s the Premier League Cup. However, the U16 tournament is much shorter than the U15/U14 equivalents.

While in those you play each team home & away, with the top 2 from each group making the knockouts, in the U16 tournament you only play each team once with only 1st place qualifying.

United have played 2/3 group games so far. They drew with Boro & then I’m not sure how their game with Brighton ended.

Gotcha, thanks!

we seem to be lacking strikers at U16 or U18 level. Bradburn and Rooney getting injured doesn't help.

17s play Burnley tonight in their final PL Cup group stage fixture.

Impossible for us to qualify however as Blackburn have won all 3 of their games and only 1st place makes it through.

1-0 win.

MUTV have both the U21's and U18's scheduled today at the same time (noon UK). How's that going to work?

Just seen that Spurs are actually streaming both their u18s and u21s at the same time today. Also noticed recently that Manchester City have all of their academy matches available to watch on demand.

It’s a shame other clubs receive so much better coverage.
