Haaland requires the midfield to have a very good game, cause even the close games that City had he was meh, and has mostly showed when his was dominating the opposition, which most of the time were inferior teams that were underdogs against City.

There is no excuse for any of the giants of the game to not have scored more than they have outside of ability for the period. 25 games to 30 goals is twice the scoring rate of Benzema, and almost twice the scoring rate of the best player to ever play the game.

Honestly, if my team is looking for a goal I want someone to just hoof it at Haaland and let him run at it. Going by numbers alone, that has a significantly higher chance of giving a positive outcome than hoping that Mbappe does something on his own.
There isnt an argumen against Mbappe being a significantly better overall player, technical ability, agility and playmaking. Just like there isnt an argument that Haaland scores the goals regardless of team he plays for, be it Salzburg, Norway, City or wherever.
Haaland doesn't need to be Messi. He can't play football that is what my eyes tell me. He can be discussed as a future great striker by the trajectory he is going, but not in any GOAT debates.
The only striker in football history that can be in GOAT debates can be R9 and that's it.

What this discussion also shows yet again what a "freak" Messi was in his prime. As good a Goalscorer as Haaland and you can even argue better if you look at the repertoire and difficulty of many of his goals. And outside of Goalscoring he's not even remotely a match to Messi.
