Kepa’s a flat out travesty. They bought Morata for £60mil , he was trash & they got £50mil back plus whatever the initial loan fee was; that’s damn good negotiating.

All teams have their poor transfers; low release clauses or not identifying Werner & Ziyech looks good business & leaves them with funds, potentially, for a Havertz.

We’re saying Sancho or nothing wining will be north of £100mil; so yes we’re obsessed with paying top dollar.
They're definitely good value for money but literally anybody could have bought them for the same price, it's not the same.

Let's see if Chelsea manage to get Chilwell for a great price.

Champions league or not will have a big impact but I'd be very surprised if we spent as much as last summer net. There is a £100m hole in the accounts.
When does the summer transfer window open?If we have to win the EL to qualify for next seasons CL,then we may have to wait until the third week of August before finding out if we have qualified for next seasons CL...

True or not, we will see. If he wants to keep the expectations low, the prices low or he hasn't got a clue yet or even if we really don't have some decent amount of money this summer, is anybody's guess.

If we want to close the gap, we have to buy IMO, there is no way around it. Going into the season without a top class RW would be fatal. We don't have to buy 5 players, but one or two good/great players for the starting eleven and competition is a must. The rest is nonsense.

I don't think it has been confirmed but i suppose they will factor that in to when it will. Serie A's opens on the 1st September.

Can be read in two ways. Sounds ominous as it's the 27th of June. Ole must know by now how much he has to play with.

Could be a "don't get your hopes up" message to fans or the club are playing down transfer funds so clubs wont bleed us dry. Hope it's the latter
He’s hardly going to come out and say we have xxx million to spend, thats not how you do business because we’d be cleaned. I’d rather we buy smart rather than the big names because that has never really gone well for us.

At least he's a bit more savvy than Woodward usually is:

I think Ole is playing his cards close to his chest here. He has probably got 2 versions of who he wants coming in, depending on Champions league or not. It may all be built around 1 big player coming in, Lets say Sancho if we qualify, and perhaps a £50 mill player. Or maybe lets say Grealish and a £30 mill player if not. We will get one 'big name' in I'm sure and spend at least £100 million gross with some if not all of Lingard/Periera/Smalling/Rojo/Jones hopefully Sanchez moved on.

We've a good enough squad now that we need to let them play together more. We can add to the squad next year if Ole thinks its neccessary.
Thinks it's necessary??? Have you seen the points difference. We need a lot more than just letting them play together. A RW is essential, another CB and a couple of reliable squad players are needed now. Chelsea are making moves, so will Spurs. We've had enough fecking around. Next season will pretty much put us close to 10 years without a league challenge or a run on the champions league. Absolutely unacceptable for a club like is.

Ah yes a clueless Woodward quote, as soon as he came calling clubs increased the value of their players.
He also made us a powerful bargaining chip for players, agents and clubs to use this club in contract and transfer negotiations that have nothing got to do with us. Its basically if you don't give in to our silly demands we will call United because they give stupid money to anyone. Our fecking goalie makes more than some of the best players on the continent. Woodward has made us a joke in the football world.

We will and I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see both them come in if Grealish can be got for around the 40 mark. This club need goals and lots of them. Goals take the pressure away so if De Gea/Maguire feck up like against Spurs we know we have enough up front to make that mistake meaningless.

Having us go out and publicly declare we have lots of money has seen us get ripped off constantly by teams that put an extra 10-15% on any fee and players that don’t want to play for us for their wages so Ole is saying the right thing.

Regardless of whether Chelsea didn’t spend anything last year I don’t believe for a second they’re in a position to spend £100 million more than us in the transfer window and having spent £55 on Werner and apparently £70-£80 million on Chilwell on top of whatever Ziyech was (£40 million ?) I don’t see how they can spend that during a pandemic yet we can’t.

I think in a worst case scenario it’ll be just Sancho as it’s clear to everyone he’s our number one target and has been for about a year, with Dortmund wanting up to £100 million it’d make zero sense to boast about how much money we have.

Do you really believe that?
Of course. I really dont see why not. De gea is still a great gk. Maguire is solid for a cb. AWB is one of the best, Lm is sorted with martial and rashford. cm is nicely sorted with matic, fred, pogba and bruno. Shaw as a rb is decent enough to do good. St position is good aswel. Rm is the only position left that needs to be filled. Another cb to partner maguire would be great. Teams have won the PL with far less. I'm not going to start saying everyone is shit.

Agree. Under Fergie we averaged around 2 goals a game most seasons. We concentrated on attack, you score 2 we score 3 and much more often than not it came off. Since Fergie our goals scored is very poor and obviously has dictated our league position. Even though there has been a marked improvement in playing style since February, we have still only scored 48 goals in 31 games, and 12 of those goals came since Bruno arrived, coincidently in only 6 games!

Plus three managers on the trot who would rather play the opposition then play for ourselves. Van Gaal believed that we only really needed one shot on target and we should score it and then pass the minutes away. This club has always been about attack and it's why people get pissed at a supremely talented Martial, 15-20 goals a season in all competitions from a first team United striker is unacceptable.

I guess the transfer fund depends very much on our final standing. If we somehow squeeze ourselves into top four this season, I don't expect the board would invest a lot to the team, just like the pattern from previous years.

13/14 (1) - 75.33m
14/15 (7) - 146.09m
15/16 (4) - 53.93m
16/17 (5) - 137.75m
17/18 (6) - 152.9m
18/19 (2) - 52.15m
19/20 (6) - 142.02m

Not entirely sure why people don't understand that there are some pretty big concerns ahead.

- We're not sure when the next season will actually start and if it will have consequences in terms of income from the tv deal
- We're not sure when crowds will be allowed back into the stadiums
- We're not sure if we will be in the CL next season and even if we did have a spot we wouldn't be sure if they have to change the format, if crowds are allowed in, the consequences for revenue
- We're not sure how long the next season is going to be, given that it will be starting later than originally planned and they have to squeeze in the Euros

If they don't spend the fans will turn on the board real quick like they started to at the start of the season as with no or minimal investment it's another season of no chance of a title challenge and hoping to make top 4.

This is the same Ole who said Smalling & Sanchez had United futures and how Alexis was going to prove the haters wrong, then loaned him out within a week...

He’ll know exactly what he has to spend this summer, you think he’s a daft as Woodward is to go out and say, “Yeah we’ve got about £200m to spend” or some nonsense like that?

Solskjaer was cheekily asked by Norwegian TV channel Viaplay about the chances he will sign someone from Dortmund, he replied with a grin: "I'm good at math, but I can't answer that question. There are many good footballers on many teams."

United legend Solskjaer was further quizzed about his transfer plans and revealed he has held positive conversations with Ed Woodward and the Red Devils transfer crew over their strategy in the market.

Please don't take this as knee jerk reaction but the game against Norwich is a living testament of why I don't think its gonna happen.

A- Sancho is good but not that good. Sure his stats are amazing but so were Kagawa's, Dembele's and Mkhitaryan's. So what we're buying here is potential not a player who will drag us to success like a prime Cristiano Ronaldo would do
B- Our season's campaign is long and our strength in depth is crap.

Honestly I'd rather see us act smart this summer. If Dortmund can't be reasoned with the fee then we should arrange a deal with Sancho for next year now and work around sorting other issues. Meanwhile we can sell the dead wood and add a couple players in on the cheap. I'd be happy if we target players like Salisu/Sarr for CBs, Torres/Buendía as RW, VDB/Grealish as AMC and Florentino Luis as DM. Don't forget that the covid crisis had hit small clubs hard. We should definitely exploit that.

Why weren't we in for Werner at that price? Surely we could have done with some competition to Martial. No offence Odion. Also I am not into blowing 110 mils for a single player in this virus scenario. We still need a quality DM/ deep CM and Arthur is moving to Juve? I think if by some miracle we get CL then moves will happen.

The lack of ambition from the board has been pretty evident and I think they will be satisfied with a top four finish, just like previous years.

Werner's on something like £270k a week at Chelsea. We aren't going to spend that sort of money on wages for a back-up striker.

What are you on about? First of all, the season is not over and he is already on 19, surely he is surpassing 25 I reckon. Secondly how many strikers in the league have scored 5 more goals than him? I would say none. Considering the lack of creativity and injuries and his first full season playing as a striker I would say he has done a great job.
The reason why we are skint of goals is because of Pereira, Mata and Lingard and the lack of goals from other parts of the team and not be cause of Martial and Rashford who both have paid their dues.

Why would it be a coincidence that our attack improves after the return of class players ? For the majority of the season our strikers have been playing in front of a central midfield consisting of Fred, Lingard and Pereira.

A) We didn’t sign anyone bar Kovacic last year and made other sales
B) We’ve sold Hazard and Morata for combined fee of around £140-180m
C) We had CL football this season, you didn’t
D) We are likely to get CL football next season
E) We have an army of excess players to sell, i’ve listed them before but £100+ comfortably
F) Our revenue doesn’t take as big a hit as yours on matchday revenue being as your stadium holds a lot more fans
G) Our net spend over the past 5 years is a fraction of yours

all of this combined means i wouldn’t be surprised to see us spend more than you, this season anyway.

To answer another poster i think Werner was rumoured to be on £190-200k a week

Exactly. Somehow they've convinced themselves none of that will have any impact. We also spent £50m+ in January on Bruno.

Those games against Norwich will always happen. Even united lost to Portsmouth with the best players in the world and stopped us getting the treble in 08. It happens. But the way united won is what people should be looking at. United dominated at the end and won ugly. That’s how good teams do it when things get hard. This teams isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. They drew to Liverpool and beat City 2 or 3 times this season already and they have a miles “better” squad.

Yeah Sancho won’t be the instant fix but it’ll be a damn sight better with him then Lingard or mata. Adding a couple of cheap better players will be easier said then done. Ole is probably only looking to buy 2 players when united obviously need 3 players to bulk the squad better. United probably won’t do well next season in the CL or whatever but the league performances will improve to at least be more of a threat.

You honestly think someone that scored 29 league goals and over 40 G+A in a top league is a “back-up” to any of United’s current strikers. If you had signed Werner, none of your current starting options will stop him from the first 11.

I see we're getting the excuses in early so.
Covid 19 recession isn't a valid and honest reason? I honestly don't know what the feck is then!

All clubs have been affected! TV revenue is there but obviously match day revenue is a loss.

We've no idea currently how long this is going to go on for either.

We don't have a bottomless pit of funding and our charitable efforts and fact we continued to pay all staff full wages through the lock down also need to be considered.

Honestly, whether you say you have a lot to spend or little to spend will make no difference in transfer negotiations. Manchester United's financial statements are available for all to see; it will give anyone a good idea of how much money they have.

Besides, that isn't even needed with Manutd. It is obvious they are one of the richest clubs in the world; any team is going to ask for a massive amount from them regardless.

---------------------------------------------------

I think we will probably spend £100m or less. If we sign Sancho, I would not be surprised if it is the only signing we make, unless we sell Pogba.
It isn't about what we currently have, its about forecasting for the future.

All clubs have lost match day revenue so there is a considerable dent in earnings to forecast for going forward. Share price has dropped a little as well... I'm sure there are lots of issues to consider like this when going into a transfer window and telling Ole he has X amount to spend.
