Having us go out and publicly declare we have lots of money has seen us get ripped off constantly by teams that put an extra 10-15% on any fee and players that don’t want to play for us for their wages so Ole is saying the right thing.
Regardless of whether Chelsea didn’t spend anything last year I don’t believe for a second they’re in a position to spend £100 million more than us in the transfer window and having spent £55 on Werner and apparently £70-£80 million on Chilwell on top of whatever Ziyech was (£40 million ?) I don’t see how they can spend that during a pandemic yet we can’t.
I think in a worst case scenario it’ll be just Sancho as it’s clear to everyone he’s our number one target and has been for about a year, with Dortmund wanting up to £100 million it’d make zero sense to boast about how much money we have.
A) We didn’t sign anyone bar Kovacic last year and made other sales
B) We’ve sold Hazard and Morata for combined fee of around £140-180m
C) We had CL football this season, you didn’t
D) We are likely to get CL football next season
E) We have an army of excess players to sell, i’ve listed them before but £100+ comfortably
F) Our revenue doesn’t take as big a hit as yours on matchday revenue being as your stadium holds a lot more fans
G) Our net spend over the past 5 years is a fraction of yours
all of this combined means i wouldn’t be surprised to see us spend more than you, this season anyway.
To answer another poster i think Werner was rumoured to be on £190-200k a week
