Ollie Watkins | United possibly interested

30 is the new 25 so I don’t care about the age.
Maybe Sesko will turn out to be one of the European elite strikers but could also become Hojlund 2.0.
With limited funds I would go for the option that guarantees immediate success.

I'd take him for the right fee but won't be fussed if we get neither as long as we strengthen the GK and/or CM positions.

Can't blame the club for trying and failing to land a CF, and we shouldn't be going for scraps if waiting a season means we are likely to land a better one.

Still hope we are keeping an eye on this situation and not closed those option. Watkins would be a quality addition and his all round game will be really helpful in the attacking build up.

If we can somehow sneak a deal for 40 million plus add ons in the last minute, it would be a great transfer window

Would probably get us 15 goals in the next two season, but after that, who knows? Sesko is more of a gamble, he might only get us 8 goals a season and be a new Höjlund limited by his lack of top class technical ability. Or he develops into a 15 goals a season striker.

That's good news if Villa get him, that means Villa could or maybe need to off load Watkins , and the so called reported £45 million offered by utd could well be on the cards.?
Imo this is a better deal than Sesko. As we need 2 strikers and keeping Hojlund for at least another year makes some sense.
Some how though I could see nobody coming in as well..

I'm still on the Watkins train.

But it's not moving somewhere in some Staffordshire countryside. And there's no-one else on here. And there's no food or drink. And payment facilities are down.

The issue, if Sesko goes to Newcastle, is the price. WH will try to squeeze everything they can knowing he's essentially our last chance to get a decent striker. He's not even worth what they want at this point.

Shame Garnacho never wanted Villa, could have really helped bring down that price for Watkins

I really think Garnacho and Watkins straight swap is a fair deal given their age difference.

Our public or at least perceived public pursuit of Šeško means Aston Villa will stick to their guns and demand an exorbitant price for Watkins now because we’re in a desperate spot. I wanted Watkins over Šeško from the beginning but not at the price Villa are going to demand. I’d rather use our money to get a midfielder which I think is one of our biggest problems and a huge reason for our poor attack more so than a striker.

Wouldn't mind coming back to this if a reasonable sum can be agreed. Probably our best short term option for helping us climb back up the table quickly

Bloody West Ham!

It's one thing trying to sell your own players but trying to sell another club's players is just downright mean

Villa won't be reasonable now, forget about when Sesko goes to Newcastle.

This might become our Lukaku moment when we bid for a striker after we put up a smokescreen for another

We signed Eric when he was 28, teddy when he was 31. I am team Ollie Watkins in this.
Baffling post. Firstly being 2 years off with Cantona's age, and also trying to compare someone like Sheringham who was the classic no speed to lose type with Watkins who is all about pace and mobility.

We still have time. Play hardball with the bomb squad. They either take paycuts, fund their own transfers, or enjoy a season of solo training.
Slightly off topic but who phrased the term bomb squad ? It caught on like fire in this forum

And we did not buy Teddy as our (only) lead striker
