Omar Berrada | Man Utd CEO

It’s not overriding someone if it’s not their decision in the first place. It’s taken on this whole narrative now like Berrada made some unilateral decision with people just completely ignoring the logic of how these decisions are actually made.
Who sacked Ashworth?

He should be sacked too. Why did he rush to appoint Amorim last season? I always felt we should have taken our time. But again, I feel our CEO got hoodwinked by the Amorim to City links and decided to act fast.

How many times have the City links rushed us into a disaster ?

The appointment hasn’t worked he needs to pull the trigger then look at himself and wonder if he’s got the ability to do this job.

Amorims his man. The first managerial appointed of his tenure appears to be a complete disaster. I guess we’ll see how ruthless Jim really is, we seen how quick he got rid of Ashworth.

Definitely needs to recognize his mistake (and maybe resign?). He ruined Amorim's career by forcing him to sign with us midseason and he showed his completely naivete by hiring a manager who stubbornly plays a formation not suited to our squad.

Why should he resign? Don't be dramatic. Amorim destroyed his career himself by being stubborn with his tactics. All this could have easily been avoided.

For the amount of ridicule the idea of hiring Southgate got, there's no way it could have been this bad.

Ashworth has the last laugh.

Amorim can take responsibility for his own failures

I've been behind Amorim, but I do wonder what this place would've been like if Southgate came in last season and we finished 15th. It's a different mood when nobody wants you to get the job to start with

He signed a coach who is one dimensional with his tactics. Liverpool spoke to Amorim and decided not to hire him because they didn’t have the squad for his tactics. So why did Berreda hire him as we certainly didn’t.

People going in on the CEO for an appointment is wild.

He made a bad call for the right reasons. At the time almost everyone was happy with the appointment and that we weren't going to waste another season like we did with Ralf.

There is no guarantee something will work. I'd rather fail taking a chance that let things pass you by.

The feck is wrong with you lot? Everyone has gotten an appointment wrong. The key is to quickly correct.

Just fyi - from what I read, thats only one potential reason. Another one has been reported, that when Ruben was in contact with Liverpool that his representative still organized some meetings with Spurs (iirc). That irked people and thats why that didn't happen. The notion that Pool decided against him because of the formation is a little naive though isn't it? I mean, this is the formation that brought him his reputation, it brought him into contention at clubs like Liverpool. I'd say, it is a bit far fetched to act as if they just realised his formation midway through the talks.

He should not be making the appointments. Surely you leave that in charge of the footballing side. Hughes and Edwards appointed Slot, not the CEO. So why is our CEO making footballing decisions? He’s not qualified to do that and he’s never done that at City. So why here?

Because his formation required a lot of personal change for them and they weren’t willing to spend that money. Liverpool have a good structure with Edward’s and Hughes. They play 4 at the back across all levels, so didn’t want to change that for Amorim. We should have done the same, but our CEO with no credentials decided to hire his own man.

The story was that they talked to him and he told them he was going to play his system (3-4-3 formation + all the other stuff that goes into making a system) or nothing and he wanted to be backed in the market to make it possible. Pool thought that was too big a risk -- every managerial appointment comes with risk and you can't have an unproven manager dictate this much about the squad direction.

Hyper specialist. Of course. Lets just repeat it as often as we can, so we can finally believe it. But sure, we suffer, because our players are just fine, just dragged down by the unsound and exotic expectations of 3-4-3-Amorim. Like being able to keep the ball, pass the ball, run permanently, not be a push over.
