One Player per Prem Team to Win the League

Haven't done this in a while.

Rules:
-2 Keepers
-20 Players, one per club team
-Pick to win the league, starting today and lasting til the World Cup in Qatar, so durability and flexibility matter, so De Bruyne is a risky choice these days for example with his injuries and your 7 bench outfield players are covering 10 spots so versatile types like James Milner if it were 5 or 10 years ago are more valuable.
-Name a starting XI

Will post mine soon

There is 7 defenders in there. I don't think you need more then that to win the title.
And 11 attackers (wide men, attacking mf, forwards). Who is playing cm for you there because when you factor in 2 goal keepers that's your full 20?

Not Gallagher and maddison is it?

Interesting team, but it won’t be able to challenge Cancelo-less City or even Salah-less Liverpool. I’m not sure if any potential team from that challenge will tbf.

I'm normally of a control possession guy but I don't think you can built the best team that way with this exercise (though I might try an "if I was Guardiola" team later).

Calvert-Lewin (Toney)
Son Salah (Raphinha, Sarr)
Bernardo (McGinn)
Rice Tielemans (Ward-Prowse)
Cucurella James (Trippier, Cornet)
Gabriel Varane (Guehi)
Sa (Krul)

Reasoning:
-It's a team built for the counter attack but the fullbacks and Tielemans and Bernardo Silva can create enough for the 3 goalscorers up top and having a target men helps when teams bunker
-Might bench Calvert-Lewin in some tough games away and play Salah up top with Raphinha on the right
-Sa's numbers are incredible and Wolves don't really have anyone you're otherwise desperate for
-Rice is my 4th CB, Cornet my 3rd striker and wing coverage too. If Cucurella is out and the defensive job looks too tough for him there's Trippier and Gabriel (Guehi slotting in) as options
-Norwich are terrible. I only rate Normann really but I couldn't pick him to backup Tielemans because I wouldn't want to really play them together and Ward-Prowse is more versatile
-Bernardo Silva and attacking fullbacks seemed like the best bet to ensure I keep possession enough. Nobody uncomfortable on the ball. Rice is a risk but I liked the option of being able to go 3 at the back with him and one of McGinn or Ward-Prowse in midfield and just Salah and Son up top.
-I wanted to pick Tierney over Cucurella, but it weakened me at CB. Was surprised how weak the CBs seem now that Van Dijk isn't on another level completely all the time. Also why I went with Varane despite his injury issues, along with not wanting to build my team around Bruno and nobody else at the club impressing me that much lately, since De Gea is creating too many chances for opponents while being the best shot stopper in the league by a mile

Almost picked:
-Janelt (he's probably as good as Ward-Prowse, and I like Broja's running with the ball, but would like to see more), St Maximin (if they hadn't signed Trippier I would have gone with him, though it's tough not to pick Raphinha and Sarr who seem miles above the rest of their clubs with Phillips struggling), Gallagher

Not going to name the players from each team aldo it looks fun. Shaw would probably be a better player in another team of that I am certain

You guys are doing it all wrong. You should take Ederson and Allison from City and Liverpool because that would weaken them significantly. The only way to challenge for the league.

I think I'm probably a full back light, but I thought that Saka could cover there in the worst case scenario. Hopefully Trippier is comfortable enough on the left. Also, I have Trossard starting as a false 9, but the attack is extremely versatile and you could easily bring in Saka or Raphinha and alter it slightly. Toney there as a different type of option.

Not the best CB pairing, but the team could do a job. Maybe go 5 at the back with Rudiger too somehow.

First eleven has an incredible attack, solid centre mid block, attacking full backs and big strong defenders.

A couple of alternative centre back options in the squad along with Trippier who can cover either full back position.
Strong midfield alternatives for rotation, and in some games would play one of them in place of the 2 Central blocks, so don't need a 3rd holding player in the squad.

Two striker options to fill in for Ronaldo at times, or other games support him.
Zaha can play up front if needed at times.

Defensively strong midfield, CBs comfortable on the ball, full backs that can overlap, and an attack that's comfortable with the ball at feet and running at their men. De Bruyne despite having 1 leg is in there as he always makes things happen.

Hardest pick for me was Rice or Antonio, as I'm a big fan of Antonio. But there's lots of good striker alternatives and the midfield alternative is Neves who's good but a different style of player. Kante also would've got in had it not been for a lack of top RBs in the league, and so James has to be in there for me.

If we were taking into account current form / building for the future then I'd get rid of Kane and Dr Bruyne.

Agreed. The best team will be more of a contain-and-counter side. But I can’t see it commanding enough of the ball to secure the dominance required to get to the 90-100 point mark for a title win.

That’s a nice team / squad. As you say Hanley the only eye raiser, perhaps swap Lamptey for Dunk and Hanley for Aarons. But solid squad.

Tried to be balanced but I thought Salah and Kane are key, Martinez is an excellent GK, Livramento and Shaw can offer attacking quality as FBs while Rice & Tielemans can offer cover plus some control with Gundogan as the creative outlet centrally.

Zaha & Salah are very direct wingers who can cut in and attack/shoot while Kane can be the central presence with his ability to score, or bring others into play with his strong holdup.

For the bench, I have DCL & Rafinha as options, with Bissouma and Noergaard as CM/DM options. Tomiyaso is flexible and can cover RB/LB spots.

Can't be bothered to do the full squad, but here is my 11.

Martinez - Aston Villa
Cresswell - West Ham
Coady - Wolves
Gabriel - Arsenal
Lamptey - Brighton
Jorginho - Chelsea
Tielemans - Leicester
B Silva - Man City
Salah - Liverpool
Ronaldo - Manutd (I think this team would have enough possession and work ethic to have him in it - not really any standout strikers this year with Kane dropping off from last season)
Son - Tottenham

I think that would challenge.

Edit: Changed Kante as we are including injury records. He seems to get injured quite a bit now.

The best XI I could think of to play Pep style would be something like this:

Sancho---------------Kane----------------------Salah (Richarlison, Pukki, Sarr)
-----------Tielemans---BernardoSilva-------------- (Moutinho, Fornals)
-------------------------Phillips--------------------------------- (Bissouma)
Tierney----Guehi--Christensen---Livramento (Trippier, Ajer)
-------------------Emi Martinez----------------------------- (Pope)

Emi Martinez is good enough on the ball and sweeping that I went with Bernardo Silva as my City choice since it's hard to find a #8 outside of Chelsea who can really keep the ball and I wanted Christensen because he's so good on the ball. Guehi in for the same reason. Ajer is okay on the ball from what I've seen.

Livramento and Tierney are good on the ball and Tierney can play in a back 3 which Pep used to go to and might have to again without a perfect squad. Trippier chosen because he looked fine as an LB for England and can play the Cancelo role if need be out left.

Bissouma and Phillips fight for the #6 role. Bissouma never gives it away and Phillips plays the role well.

Tielemans is good on the ball and can do the things Gundogan does ghosting into goal scoring positions in attack I think. Moutinho is old but good enough on the ball to fill in for an hour or 30 minutes and Fornals works his ass off and keeps the ball well and West Ham are so Moyes-y the next best choice was probably moving Rice back to CB or picking Bowen and Watford only have wingers so I had Sarr. I considered Kilman for his futsal past and good passing stats, but didn't want to start him and couldn't find a Watford or Norwich player I liked as much as their attackers.

Sancho is out of form but he's quality and St Max gives it away too much I think. Also wasn't sure what United player to pick really. Could have gone Shaw and had Saka and think there's a decent case for that. Salah too good not to pick and I don't think Van Dijk is miles ahead at CB anymore when I watch him; Matip certainly outplayed him the last couple times I've seen. Sarr is a good winger. He's way better on the counter but I didn't like any other Watford players really. Maybe Dennis is the right call on form but Sarr is more proven.

Up front, we know he likes Kane and I did feel like I needed someone who can drop deep and score a ton of goals. Pukki is a poor man's Aguero. Richarlison is probably my backup 9 and backup winger since he's played there and Gabi Jesus has similar qualities and Pep uses him out wide.

Weak spots: Backup left-winger, are the CBs good enough overall.
