This Thursday against Lyon is our 6000th game, obviously excluding friendlies and testimonials.

We have 2872 wins, 1410 draws and 1617 defeats.

10460 goals scored and 7308 against.

Not sure how this ranks against other clubs but seems a good achievement to note.

Let's hope for more success in the next 6000.

1600 of those defeats have come in the last 4 years I reckon.

Wonder how many I’ve been alive for.

What percentage of those 1617 defeats have been since the start of last season

If Arsenal win the the ucl this year which is most likely they would be 2 behind us. That is crazy to think they would be that close. They got more chance getting 3 before we get the one

Is this purely since the club adopted its current name, or does it include the Newton Heath era?

You’re missing a good hundred games somewhere.

When was the 1st game, who were the opposition, and what was the score?

Our first competitive game was likely as Newton Heath LYR against Blackburn Olympic in the Lancashire cup in 1882/83 where we lost 7-2. (Previously we played mostly against other railway worker teams or friendlies).
