Our next five Premier League games

Sorry to be controversial but why are we looking at the next 5 games ? We have a group of 3 and then another long break. Would it not be more sensible to consider the 3 games ?

Personally I’d take 7 points from them and be ecstatic.

Everyone would’ve snapped your hand off for that record.

I am slightly concerned about the lack of tempo to our play last night though. I don’t think all of it can be put on the fact west ham were in a low block. Hopefully not a sign of things to come.

The 5-in-a-row has only become a thing because of the hair dude. Win against Everton and last night becomes a decent point. I'd happily take 4 wins from 5 for the rest of the season

Last night became a decent point at the final whistle due to the Chelsea slip up, which was a shocker from 2-0 up.

Likely the new caretaker manager will be in for city, and we're back to one game a week for all of these apart from West Ham which is mid week after Spurs.

Mbeumo I think will be back for City game, Amad for the Arsenal game.

City have a midweek EFL cup away semi final vs Newcastle before our match, Arsenal have a midweek away match vs Inter before ours (but they'll probably prioritize the league match as they're fine in the CL).

  • City (home) - win
  • Arsenal (away) - loss
  • Fulham (home) - win
  • Spurs (home) - win
  • West Ham (away) - win
Gotta be positive... But I think it's doable. The 5 after that though probably something like 6-8 points from that set of 5 (everton away, palace home, Newcastle away, Villa home, Bournemouth away).

Actually looking at all the remaining games, my guess is we end between 62-66 points. Shame we really bottled December's nice fixture list.

Actually just did a game by game predictor til the end of the season. Had Arsenal top on 86, City 2nd on 83, Liverpool 3rd in the low 70's and then Villa, Chelsea and United all very close in the mid 60s before a small gap to some others below. I can see it being a really tight finish, decided on the last day for who finishes 4th and 5th again. Definitely think Villa will drop off a good amount, but they have a healthy lead.
So I had us on 12, we got 13 (though once we beat Arsenal I was saying probably a draw vs West Ham to balance).

Lets try again:
  • Everton (a) Feb 23 - draw
Tough game, tough to predict. Could go any way to be honest.
  • Palace (h) Mar 1 - Win
Easy win. Palace have their 2nd leg conference league game before this (but probably not a problem with rotating as it's a shit Bosnian side).
  • Newcastle (a) Mar 4 - loss
Midweek game for us away to Newcastle where we always seem to get battered, feels like the obvious first loss for Carrick. Snap your hand off for a draw sort of game.
  • Villa (h) Mar 15 - win
Bounce back big win. Villa have a Europa League round of 16 game on Thursday before this, and the previous week play Chelsea. Villa will struggle with the short turn around and United at home will push to respond after Newcastle loss.
  • Bournemouth (a) Mar 20 - win
Similar to Everton, hard to predict. I'd assume we win one of the 3 away games, lose one of the 3, and draw one of the 3.

So 3 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss. Where the win/draw/loss plays out from the away games, no idea. Minimum I see us getting from this block is 7 points, max is 10 though. Key is to beat Villa which I think we will.

Accurate. Only mixed up Everton/Bournemouth games which would be the draw and which would be the loss..

Last 7:
Leeds home - win
Chelsea away - loss
Brentford home - win
Liverpool home - win
Sunderland away - win
Forest home - draw
Brighton away - flip a coin

Last 2 matches won't matter so our level will drop vs Forest while they might be desperate for points for survival. Then the Brighton game being away, again, could be anything and no idea in any direction.

So probably 68 points or so by the end

I share your fear of Chelsea away. We've really struggled in our last 4 away games against West Ham, Everton, Newcastle and Bournemouth - so I'm going into every away game expecting to drop points now. Chelsea will be really up for it and play a fast pace game that we always seem to struggle with. We're also historically terrible at Stamford Bridge. On the flip side we might get more counter attacking opportunities than usual in that game which could suit us, but our poor away form will likely count for more than that.

I would like to see what Chelsea's form actually looks like going into it though and how much momentum they have, there's a big difference between going into that game if they've drawn Everton and City and the mood is negative, compared to if they got wins against Everton and City.

The absolute worst case scenario is we mess up vs Leeds, Chelsea win both their games and they have a chance to go above us if they beat us at Stamford Bridge which in that scenario I feel they almost certainly would.

We absolutely must win 3 home games at least out of the 4 remaining as I don't trust us to pick up wins in away from home.

It's not so much I fear going there, I just think Chelsea will be desperate for it while it doesn't mean much to us even if we lose it. Sometimes that motivation makes all the difference.

The last 3 away games went exactly as I expected and predicted - 1 win, 1 draw, 1 loss. If anything I think we were a bit unlucky with how they panned out. It's pretty much par for the course of how a top 5 club does away from home. If we were better away, we'd be a title challenger but obviously we aren't there yet.

Not concerned at all though, I think we'll wrap up CL football before the forest game and the last 2 games will be glorified friendlies.

All 7 of our final games are very winnable, except for the Brighton game. Danny Welbeck will score with every touch of the ball he has, and then pull down the pants of every United player on the field.

At least he did a job for us against Liverpool, stopped them gaining ground after the Bournemouth game.

Hopefully come our time to face Brighton the champions league will be secure and any goal he scores against us is just absorbed into the abyss on our end.
