Reckon Sky are paying them for the hype.

Neville and his opinions, morons galore Merson, Redknapp etc etc. the more sh!te they come out with the better fir Rupert

It would depend on the manner of the contact between the defender and Amad.

If you get the ball when making a challenge it is not a foul unless the challenge is careless, reckless, or uses excessive force.
Why is the nick relevant, nicking the ball doesn't give you licence to barrel a player over. Nick or not, that is still a clear foul and therefore a penalty.
It’s clearly a penalty.

The spirit of the penalty rule is that a defender impedes another player from continuing a football move.

The nick on the ball is inconsequential. Amad still had a chance to complete a football move after the nick of the ball, then he was fouled. Taken out really.

You cannot go through the player fouling him, then touch the ball. Penalty.

1v1 against the goalkeeper, the goalkeeper gets a small touch on the ball with his hand, but then obviously fouls the pursuing player, impeding him from collecting the ball. Penalty. We’ve seen this always given.

The only time when touching the ball is not a penalty is when the defender slides in, significantly changing the flight of the ball, out for a corner or throw in, and then the pursuing player runs into the defender. That is not a foul because the defender has a right to make an attempt for the ball, and after the successful attempt, the attacking player runs into the defender.

It would be like if a pursuing defender got a toe on the ball, kicked it forward into the path of the attacker, then pulled the attacker back by the shoulders. Penalty.

Which one is the old demon?
Rupert. The spawn are still classed as imps, though they might have graduated by now. Sad to say, I am old enough to remember the demise of the Daily Herald in Manchester (dad was in the newspaper business) which was replaced by the Sun and printed in London. The Daily Sketch, another Manchester publication, went the same way, but not to Murdoch. Sorry for the long-winded answer to a simple question.

Oh, him. :)

I remember both Herald and Sketch. Overshadowed by Mirror and Express. I worked at a printers on Elsinore Rd, Old Trafford for 8 years. Handy for the ticket office but a dead end job. I earned more doing 2x shifts at Withy Grove than I did for a week at my permanent job. All got a bit much and then along came Eddie Shah and big Rupe to make my decision easy. At least the Guardian still going strong.

FFS please don't bump this thread 2 days before an important away game. I thought we'd lost already.

He of Messenger fame. A dyed-in-the-wool Thatcherite who always seemed to me a little boy in short pants trying to show off to the big boys. Is he still alive?
My dad was a process engraver and, for a while, Father of the Chapel. If memory serves, they had their own union but he retired before the shit hit the fan having put in 30 + years. A few years after he quit, Wapping happened. A lot of his younger colleagues, men he had trained, were unceremoniously dumped onto the dole queue.
