Our signings under INEOS...

It's come to a point where I am now looking forward to who our new CM and RWB signings will be in the upcoming transfer window. Thank you INEOS for making that happen. No more Weghorst, Ighalo non-sense. No more fancy names. Just good technical and physical players who will get used to PL.

We could do with a RWB to back up Amad, but a LWB is a far greater need.

It's literally just taken us to acknowledge the two simplest principles of recruiting for the PL...

1) Players must be physical / athletes first
2) You massively reduce the risk of getting the first bit wrong if you sign players from the PL

Getting Onana out the club is just as important as signing Mbeumo or others. It can be tempting to hold on to a keeper costing 50m but I'm very pleased they quickly got rid.

That Amad cannot be trusted to be fit. One game per week is okay, but when games come thick and fast, we know he collapse. Real shame mind you, but we need someone on that side. Considering we signed Dorgu, I doubt we will splash the cash soon on the other side.

Disagree. Amad is a terrific RWB. We need another one as his understudy/compete with him though. However, the biggest issue is the left side. Dorgu is fine as depth. He's young and learning. We need an Amad level player on the left to balance out the threat that we have on the right.

Amad is proving to be great at rwb.

The wage bill isn’t the reason we have financial issues. It’s a deflection that some fans are happy to go along with.
In a round about way it is. The Glazers are the main reason for financial issues and the fact tgey don’t put their hand in their own pocket like most other owners. They hobble the club then expect it to finance itself. Possible if we are run well but not after the TenHag nightmare we’ve got to recoup as much as we can and part of that is making sure the wage bill is correct. In order to be able to make he correct investments.

I wonder why Amorim doesn't try Amad at LWB?

To me, it makes more sense to have a right footed RWB providing the overlap to left footed Mbeumo.

There have been a few times that Amad has killed time in a move, so he can use his stronger left foot, when a right footer overlaps and squares without hesitation. This one he runs around the ball to take a shot with the left, rather than square to Case for a tap in....

I think generally, the signings under INEOS have been a major upgrade to some of the overpriced garbage we signed prior.

The Zikzee signing was a weird one, as he never looked a fit. Ugarte was questionable too because of quality. But i would give them some slack there as it was early days and im not really sure the structure was really in place with Ten Hag and Ashworth not being totally trusted.

And i feel that we have not got the best of Maz due to the system change under Amorim.

I will say though, that 3 wins later and the narrative has completely changed on the Caf. INEOS were getting slammed prior for not buying a CM and instead concentrating on the forward line.

Amorim has some theory about playing his wingbacks inverted. He explained it when they asked why he started Dorgu on the right side in his first game. He prioritizes the ability of the WB to cut inside and take a man out vs ability to put a cross-in from the natural side.

Yeah, but I think now we have a striker who is excellent in the air, we should look at providing more crosses for him. Would make us less predictable too

Yes, for sure. Also, need to see more players trying to run into the box to support Sesko and spread out the defenders.

I'm finally starting to have some faith in the team again. It's not least because of the signings of Cunha, Mbeumo, Yoro, Lemmmens and Sesko. It's starting to look like something now.

The next step is to reinforce with a LW and a CM

Dalot is a brilliant squad player who can play in several positions , but it's a sign of weakness when we start him as a LW. I could imagine a player type like Anthony Gordon in that position - who has good capacity both ways.

In addition, we need to start thinking about a replacement for Casemiro and we need to have more depth in midfield anyway. Here I think Elliot Anderson would have been my dream signing.

I’m convinced we wouldn’t have gone near him if it wasn’t for the release clause. We needed another striker and he was a relatively no-lose punt that wouldn’t eat up too much of our budget.

He’s not worked out, but we’re not going to take a major hit on his fee and he’s not cost us huge sums in wages/need them subsidising to leave. There’ll never be a 100% hit rate on transfers, and that’s fine as long as the deal doesn’t shackle the club with irredeemable amortisation (eg Antony) or untouchable wages (eg Sancho)

By squad player I mean a substitute who can sometimes start less important matches. Dalot has never been good enough to be a regular starter. So I think bottom line is that we agree. I just tried to be diplomatic…… we also need all-round bench players like Dalot ;)
