Can’t believe we are talking about dembele as a viable alternative. No way are Barca allowing a loan move they are desperate for cash, not to save a few quid in wages. Therefore the best we can expect is a cut price deal, I doubt Barca are letting him go for less than 70m. For a lad who has had massive injury problems, hasn’t played in 8 months and has serious attitude problems we are going all out. If we bring in dembele there is no chance we bring in Jadon next year.

I'd be more tempted getting Bale on a 1 to 2 year loan (with Madrid paying half his wages) than going for Dembele.

Even at half his salary, he'd be on astronomical wages, is just as injury prone if not more, and far older.

Christ I can't wait for Bale to retire. It's the only way people will stop suggesting him as a viable option. The man is fecking done!

I would love to see him in the PL and I think an in-form Dembele would work great with Martial and Rashford. BUT his injury record and the last two years definitely don`t help his case. Also be questionable if he can be bought for a reasonable fee, Barca would look like mugs if they sell him for less than 50% of the original fee and even that would be 70m€? No way someone would pay that right now.
The rumour also smells very much like an obvious briefing to signal that Woody will not be held ransom for Sancho.

The guy reminds me of Nani with the way he plays. And just like Nani, he also a confidence player. I think that miss against Liverpool completely shot his confidence + the injuries didn't help either.

I would gladly take him on loan for a year and then decide if we want to keep him or not. But I have this gut feeling that he would fit right in this United side.

But who can buy him besides us? City, PSG, Real. As things stand, Barca have to do a Sanchez on him and cut their losses or they can keep him for another season and hope he will turn it around.

I personally think that the lad needs some time away from all the old egos at Barca and join a more youthful and hungry team to reignite his career.

I think his recent form is clouding people's judgment.

I can imagine people saying the same things about Robben back in 2009, look how he turned it around.

70mil at half what Barca paid for him?

I'd rather cough up and pay for Sancho.

Demebele hasn't settled at a big club, had big injuries and not hit any form since his Dortmund days.

He's also shown attitude issue's.

Doesnt show the required form or level of professionalism Ole wants.

Talent isn't everything. He's not shown anything that suggests he'd be a good signing in 2-3 seasons

Would still take him, I think he’s a very talented player and I trust Ole to make the right decisions. I think his man management has been fantastic and Dembele would fit in so much better here than in Barca.

My main concern is his injury record, I have never heard of a player coming to us and then getting a better injury record. It usually gets worse.
To be honest, since Ole came in, our fitness regimes and general work ethic levels have seriously gone up.

Hence, on the contrary, I think Dembele will be handled well and we won’t have to rush him back since Greenwood is also available (and James).

He’s also still so so young. It’s not like he’s had any career ending injuries. You may correct me if I’m wrong here.

Only loan with option. Which Barca would never go for probably.

Too injury prone for straight transfer risk. This is his last season...

Bale isn't done. He just has zero desire to play for Real. They underestimated just go much.
If he had any burning desire to play football he could have left by now. He’s patently not arsed.

On Dembélé; I can’t imagine Ole would want another player to add to the operating room. The image @MadMike posted is fecking horrifying. Feel for the kid but we are famously shit at getting players fit and firing.

Barca would happily let him go in my opinion. He’s been nothing but a liability for them and it’s clear they’re not handling him well either.

Even if he does regain his fitness, he’d still be low in the pecking order. If Messi Suarez Griezzy are fit they all play. He’d also then have Fati to compete with.

Barca will most likely use this opportunity to trim their wage bill. Also, even if Barca did want to sell him, no one would buy him in his current situation. Not even us. A loan would be compulsory for Dembele to prove his worth. This strategy would also be more beneficial for Barca in my opinion. If they try to sell him now they know nobody will offer north of €50m approximately. But if he does prove his worth, he’ll obviously fetch a lot more and rightly so. If nobody’s willing to pay that they can just bring him back and by next summer Suarez will most likely be gone. Dembele Griezzy Messi would be a decent line up for them. Point is, if Barca did want to sell him, they’d want a substantial return on their initial investment when they bought Dembele and that won’t happen this summer for sure. I may be wording it wrong but I mean, they’ll want at least half or so back on the 150m just like you said. And not 50m.

As for his ‘serious attitude problems’, I think he’s past that phase now. Young players go through it but he obviously won’t stay immature forever. Pogba & Martial along with the young squad will have a positive effect on him.

Erm are you forgetting he wanted to leave for China and Madrid blocked that move?
How could I forget he was denied the holy grail of football! A fulfilling million quid a minute couple of years in the Orient!

Pretty sure he’s just been name dropped as ah “oh look we have other options”

Sancho should be first option but if it just can’t be done then I’d have no issues with Dembele on some sort of loan with an option to buy. If you can get him fit and stay healthy then he’d be one hell of an asset to the team.

I feel pretty confident that we’ll get Sancho eventually and at some point he’ll probably put in a transfer request to wave any fees he will be due.

If I Barca aren't accepting 50m to get a very injury prone player (also on high wages and with 0 impact at the club) out of the door, while also being cash strapped... then they deserve all that's coming to them.

I’d take him on loan but that’s about it. In 5 years time he won’t be at a top club.

That’s his problem not yours. You think he cares about his legacy and what people think of him? He has won everything in Spain and looking for one big payout to keep him and family secure financially then he has every right to do it. Whether that’s at a top club in Europe or in China doesn’t matter.

I'd take him on loan with an option to buy.

Probably only a 20% chance he'd stay injury-free. But if we hit that 20% - What a player!

If Plan A fails, I'd take a risk on that 20% - I'm a romantic.

Ole could be the right managerial personality that could potentially get the best out of Dembele again, providing he's over his fitness issues.

You wanna pay 300k/week at least to get a player on loan?
Do you think Sancho is going to play for free then? It's 108m to Dortmund and about 250k a week minimum to the player on top of the fee. Plus the agent fee.

I am certain the CDM situation will be monitored over the next season. If McTominay doesn't work out in the role then expect this to be top priority next summer.
I suspect it will be Fred that plays in the deeper role.

Fred should be the next in line midfielder to rotate with both Pogba and Matic next season.

I repeat. He has zero desire to play for real again after they screwed him out of a 1m pounds a week salary in china. He is simply punishing them. It has feck all with lacking the desire to play football. He knows he can sit out his contract then go on to play till his almost 40 after. It's not like he isn't fit. He is just getting mod career r and r. He plays well enough still for wales.
