Patrick Dorgu | 2024/25 Performances

The left side attack looks much more promising with Garnacho, Dorgu and Yoro. All young players too who will improve.

Definite red. Glad Hutchinson was OK. I've seen players come off a lot worse from tackles like that.

Just the right side that needs work on then.

It is a shame, he has started his United career fairly brightly, yet he had a calamitous back pass and then compounded the mistake by getting sent off 30 mins later.

Pundits and social media will now forever reference the mistake and base their entire analysis of him as a player from that 45 minutes.

His performances from now on will have to be faultless to get even the slightest praise.

It will improve when Amad comes back from injury. Just a shame that a very talented player like Amad seems to pick up atleast one major injury every season.
Jaydon Kamason is the answer. Was brilliant again last night v Arsenal

He can’t do it all on his own though. We need that RWB signing and it’s needs to be a very good one to improve our style of play. Dalot just isn’t good enough

Surprised this hasn't been bumped. Early days and he's young, but I echo some sentiments in the match day thread. Dalot had a some very WTF moments, but overall I thought Dorgu shaded it in terms of bad he was over the whole 90.

Thread has only been open for a few mins

The difference is how long Dalot has had to adjust to this system/ team. Yes Dorgu was very poor today but I can give him some leeway as he’s young and still developing. What’s Dalot’s excuse?

Yeah he is extremely raw. Should be an option off the bench for some games but not a regular starter. Our transfers are hard to make sense of especially in the last years. We need players ready and able to make a difference for this system to work. He isn't there yet. Not even close.

Pretty much. Impressive physicality but not seen much else. But also don't want to slag off a kid from Lecce in his first few months.

Where's the post gone that said it was another 30mil wasted..?

Feel like often he had no option but to kick and run/try and take someone on, so hard to judge him. He overlaps, an immediate plus, let's see if he can kick on into next season.

Absolutely. But he looks so awkward on the ball and obviously has much developing to do still. Which is a bit of a problem as we are a mess especially in the LWB position.

I think he looks a decent, solid, steady player. My issue is that I'm not sure he has a particularly high talent level. When you compare him to someone like Quenda, it's pretty noticeable the difference. Amass for me, looks more talented than Dorgu. However, the latter is obviously far ahead of him physically.

Was he bad? I thought he got into some good areas and made some good runs

Thought his confidence would take a hit with the red card

Isn't as quick as I hoped he would be.

I think he was bad. He lost the ball a lot. Hopefully he does better at Old Trafford.
Fair enough. Different perspectives I guess. I thought he was one of our biggest threats. And has been very bright in general since he joined.

No doubt United will turn him into a poor man’s Alex Buttner within the year mind

He doesn’t look, to me, to be anything like a game changing full back. Maybe he’ll just fit so perfectly into Amorim’s system that he’ll change games that way. But in terms of what he offers in that role, he just doesn’t seem to stand out.

Wasn't great but I don't get the pile on in the match day thread. Honestly, some so called 'fans' on here need to go outside and touch grass.

Do I think he'll become the best LB/LWB in the world? No. We look much better with the balance he provides though, and he's got muscle, something this team sorely lacks.

I think he'll improve, and at worst become a very reliable player, which is more than I can say for some of the other players we have right now.

Didn’t think he was as bad as what others are saying. He had one nice ball into the middle which ended up with a Garnacho chance (obviously went into the side netting), overlapped and created some width, wasn’t too bad defensively either. Wasn’t a perfect game but far better than Dalot

I think overall he's looked promising yeah. I'd be keen to see him linking up with someone more suited to that left sided 10 role.

I don't think he was great but I didn't think he was horrendous either. We do look to have more of an attacking shape with him at fullback rather than Maz, simply because he's got the engine to get up and down the pitch.

His crossing does look pretty abysmal though, so far. Hopefully he can work on it.

Looks a bit overawed. I still like him and if anything, he needs time to acclimatize. Sociedad isn't a slouch defensively but I hope, he will show a bit more adventurousness in the future.

Showed the same issue that dalot and mazr have shown at times as well - when we win the ball back he should be bursting forward.

Same issue all over the pitch with the exception of Bruno - very little urgency going forward.

I thought he stunk. He's good at getting ahead and creating an advantage, you're right on that. But oh my goodness his passing today was a nightmare, to put it lightly. The number of times he gave the ball away was unbelievable. The announcer on the feed I watched couldn't stop commenting on how bad Dorgu's passing was. He sounded shocked.

Also not sure he's put in a good cross for us yet (I think maybe he had one?). Had a couple real head scratchers today.

Does not look first team ready at all. Surprised we splurged so much on him when apparently the likes of Kerkez will be available for around £40 million this summer.

Can we stop signing one footed players. Please FFS it's not difficult.

Couple of times he could have made a simple pass with his right but had to awkwardly force a pass with his left and lost possession.

He does seem to have a good engine in him though.

Physicality is a plus but seems very lacking in technical quality which is a big concern.

He’s come into a struggling team and then picked up the red card which seems to have effected him

Bit of a mixed start but he’s shown flashes of his quality

Give him time but he seems to have caught the bad passes gene that runs through about 90% of our team.

Some over the top takes on his performance.

Technically he was poor, gave the ball away a lot and his control was untidy at times but he's constantly getting forward with pace and power, taking up good positions and making decent decisions in forward areas.

Hard to say what his level is but just by virtue of someone actually running forward in behind at pace, he's a good option for us.

I've calmed down a bit now and in retrospective he he wasn't great but he's a young player with lots being asked of him could see he was tired at the end with Bruno and Casemiro just hammering long balls to him giving him no chance of getting it.

He gets into great positions a lot, but it just highlights the issues I have with a system that utilizes wing-backs.

I'd rather have attackers get into those positions than defenders.

His performance was okay.

Fair post.
